18-years old Ilinca Maria Băcilă comes from a family of musicians and studies music since she was 7 years old. At the age of 5, Ilinca had dysphonia, and her vocal cords were not united. Now, however, the young singer from Cluj-Napoca can boast a special voice. In 2012, aged 13, she competed in "Romanii au Talent" as a member of a 4 girls band, reaching the live gala stage. In 2014 Ilinca stunned jurors from 4th season of "Vocea Romaniei" with her yodelling talent. She competed in team of Loredana Groza. During the show she has performed "I Want to Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart" (Patsy Montana), "Counting Stars" (OneRepublic), "It's Oh So Quiet" (Betty Hutton / Björk), "You & I" (One Direction), "He Taught Me How to Yodel" (Taylor Ware), "Mi-am pus busuioc în păr" (Maria Tănase) reaching the semifinal of the competition. Then, she participated in the national tour alongside her mentor and has collaborated with several cultural institutions within the country: Iaşi Philharmonics, Romanian Opera from Cluj and Drama Theatre in Braşov. She kept herself in public eye releasing cover versions on her Youtube channels and also released Yodel tutorial video.

25-years old Alexandru Ionuț Florea, a singer and actor from Constanta, has been performing at private parties, in pubs or at charity shows. Alex says he inherited his talent from his father. "I never sang professionally but loved music, was fond of music, I just did not know where to start,". Through an acquaintance he reached Mihai Trăistariu, who referred him to a music school, and then he took three years of the Popular Arts School, under the guidance of Theodor Radulescu. Immediately after high school he started studies on Faculty of Journalism, but then quit it to go to acting. Now Alex is studying to get his master's degree within Ovidius Arts University- Theatre Section, in Constanta. Florea competed in X Factor 2014 in Over 20 team of Ștefan Bănică. During the show he performed "Here Without You", "You Give Love a Bad Name", "Numai Una", "Bed of Roses", "Let Me Entertain You", "One". He was eliminated in 2nd week. Alex has demonstrated his versatility by participating in the Voice of Romania in 2015 in team of Maris Moga. During the show he performed "Bed of Roses" (Bon Jovi), "Crazy" (Aerosmith), "I'd Do Anything for Love" (Meat Loaf), "Banii vorbesc" (Holograf), "Atât de singur" (Talisman). He was eliminated on the stage of duels. Alex also has a rock band, "Electric Fever".

Mihai Alexandru is one of the most famous and successful composers of Romania, who competed in Eurovision national finals 10 times and won numerous awards alongside established artists. Composed by Mihai Alexandru and Alexa Niculae "Yodel it!" is a track that combines elements of pop rock, hip hop and yodelling. "Mihai Alexandru contacted me one day and told me that he wrote a song with yodel and, as no one knows anyone who does yodel in Romania, he would to work with me", recalls Ilinca, confessing that the idea of performing at the Eurovision appeared much later, only after the song was heard and liked by some people. "We gave it to listen to friends and they told us it would be a good idea to go with it in the competition. We thought, however, that is was not complete and that is when I called Alexandru".

"I think that the combination of such diverse styles (rock, rap, pop and yodelling) make the song so special. Our song brings something new and fits well with this year's slogan: "Celebrate Diversity", and Alex and I will give everything we can to be worthy representatives of our country. The song itself brings a new element of yodelling to the Eurovision. Our show will be full of energy and joy and we would stand noticed among many ballads"

Besides the most desired trophy, an original creation made by the artist Dan Divrician, the winner of Eurovision Romania has received a 5.000 euro check, an amount specially awarded for preparing the show from the international Final stage. "We thank TVR for all the support. We have the opportunity to continue this beautiful dream with the help of Romanian Television. We thank the viewers who have voted us and we do hope to make them proud. We will represent in Kyiv all the ones who were in the Eurovision Final this evening", have declared Ilinca şi Alex Florea, the winners of Eurovision Romania, in an emotional speech.

"I am sure that the two youngsters will represent us beautifully in Kyiv and we will “yodel” together in this Eurovision family. We have ahead of us a difficult and busy period in which we will prepare the Kyiv show. I am very pleased with the entire organisation on the one hand, and, on the other, I am happy that TVR’s studio has been full of emotions and joy – I think this is the most important thing. I am glad the viewers back home have voted in such a great number, 31.694 votes", has declared at the end of the evening Iuliana Marciuc, the general producer of Eurovision Romania.

Mihai Alexandru studied cello at the George Enescu Musical High School and afterwards he went to the Ciprian Porumbescu Conservatory. Member of the Union of Romanian Composers, Mihai won many prizes for the numerous hits that he composed. Mihai is also a member of many important national and international juries. The composer started at the age of 20, as a member of the famous band Iris. After he met the singer Nicola, and launched hit after hit throughout the years. He has participated more than 20 times in national selections for the Eurovision Song Contest in Romania and Switzerland.

Alexa Niculae is a Romanian singer, songwriter and presenter. Alexa took part in Star Academy in 2005 and Megastar in 2006. In 2009 she performed two songs at the national selection for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. In 2010, Alexa took part in the national selection again, with the song Baby, composed by Mihai Alexandru. In 2013 and 2014, she continued to collaborate with Mihai Alexandru on the songs What is Love and Letting Go, performed by Renee Santana, the niece of the legendary artist Santana. In 2017 she won the national selection in Romania, this time as a songwriter in collaboration with Mihai Alexandru with the song Yodel It!, performed by Ilinca and Alex Florea.

- What are the three most interesting aspects about your entry?
- We are full of energy, good energy, I might add. We love to sing and bring smiles to people's faces. As we are performing, we are always trying to share the positive vibes and the sheer joy of being on stage with the public. We love the fact that our song is very diverse, we combine rock, rap and yodelling to express ourselves and we believe that shows how much we love music. All music.

- What are the three most impressive facts about you?
- I (Ilinca) am the only yodelling artist in Romania, doing it since I was very young. Alex is very versatile and I love his voice. I sing opera as well and Alex is also an actor.

- Do you have a (lucky) routine before you go on stage?
- We try to tell jokes and get ourselves in a happy mood, because we generally are happy people. And we use palinka as well! (laughs)

- Why is the Eurovision Song Contest important for you?
- We are very proud to have been chosen to represent our country in such a prestigious competition.

Ilinca and Alex Florea think they have a good chance to win the Eurovision trophy. They want to have an explosive and memorable show and are confident that geopolitics will not create problems if the song is good enough to pass over such a barriers. In an interview to Ziua de Constanta they highlight they are happy that their track fulfils motto of this year's international competition, "celebrate diversity". Ilinca promises that choreography for their performance will be eye-catchy, and for that they want to create a special movement to mark their performance, such as in "Gangnam Style" or "Waka Waka".

"Initially, I had to go to represent Switzerland with Timebelle band with this song. I remained, however, in Romania to perform with Alex and Timebelle eventually entered with a different song and a different Romanian singer, but also qualified to the contest this year", she reveals. Although she and Alex are almost neighbours, they have never met before the project. "We really hoped to win in Romania, also because a great feedback from all ratings, sites and blogs, it gave us a boost, more confidence and we were able to perform it as well as we could, although there were certain elements that have occurred in our show that were a little discouraging", said Alex Florea.

Both Alex Florea and Ilinca are satisfied with the relationship so far with TVR team and hopes that this cooperation will continue to be a good one, in order to win the Eurovision. "The concept of our show must belong to us, we should not be forced to do something that will not represent us. It's very important to be in a team where communication exists and you feel good, because otherwise discomfort is seen on stage", "says Alex. They both can not wait to go on tour to promote the song (their appearances are confirmed for Amsterdam, London and Madrid, but more stops are considered) and believe in their chances to get the trophy.

Alex has already studied acting in the Ovidius University and thinks it helped him a lot, gave a great input to his personal and artistic development. Ilinca wants to study acting as well, but has not yet decided what University she will join in. They are looking forward having joint projects after Eurovision as well, but will pursue their solo careers, because they think they have much to offer as solo performers.

Preselection

Romanian broadcaster TVR has started accepting entries for the national Eurovision preselection Selecţia Naţională Eurovision 2017 on 20 December. Complete regulations were released on 19 December and are available here. Submission deadline has been set on 22 January 2017.

Songs can be mailed or delivered directly to the Registratura TVR (Calea Dorobanţilor nr. 191, sector 1, Bucureşti) on CD with mention "National selection for the Eurovision 2017" written on the envelope, or can be sent electronically to the eurovision.romania@tvr.ro. Submission should also include so called "karaoke" version of the track, without lead, but with backing vocals; written agreement between songwriter and artist allowing to participate in the national preselection; signed authorization from copyright holders; lyrics of the song and translation into Romanian; copy of the ID card of the songwriters and performer; contact details; proof of payment of participation fee in amount of 200 lei (44 Euro) for each entry submitted.

For the first time in the history of Romanian participation in the Eurovision national selection jury will decide on the semifinalists in a special TV show. The artists will perform songs live in TVR studios in front of the jury on 29-29 January. Entries will be judged by 5 member jury, of professionals having no interest in any song, songwriter or performer that can affect their impartiality in the voting. Jury will be voting by giving points from 1 to 10 to the participants, judging entries by the following criteria: a) music form, development of the melodic theme, consistency of melodic and rhythmic elements to provide a proper musical construction; b) arrangement of the song; c) inventiveness and originality of music theme; d) stylistic diversity of music in the contest; e) quality of the vocal interpretation.

The Eurovision Romania National Selection has drawn 84 songs in the race for a ticket to the Kyiv's stage. Local stars, like Lora, Mihai Trăistariu, Florin Chilian, Maxim, Ianna Novac, Tavi Colen and Emma, Tudor Turcu, Nora Deneș, Cristina Vasiu, Teodora Dinu or Ramona Nerra, but also foreign composers – Swedish, British and American – hope to represent Romania at Kiev's contest which will take place in May. Several projects produced by Marius Moga and Adrian Sână will also enter the competition.

The counting and the checking of the envelopes with the already registered songs took place at TVR's headquarter, where the documents were opened in the presence of a authorized notary. The registration period for the national stage of the contest has closed on Sunday, January 22nd 2017. The same as last year, the participants whose files do not meet the criteria imposed by the Regulations, had at their disposal 2 more days in order to complete their files properly. For the first time in the history of the National Selections the auditions will be broadcast from Sunday, February 5th on a daily basis, till Saturday, February 11th on TVR2, TVR HD, TVR Moldova and TVR International, starting from 20.00 hrs.

Luminita Anghel, Paula Seling, Ovi Jacobsen, Adrian Romcescu and Andrei Tudor have formed the jury of Romanian preselection. Read more about jury members here. Semifinalists will be announced in a live show on Sunday, 12 February starting from 20.00 hrs on TVR HD, TVR Moldova and TVR International. It was revealed that Lora would have qualified with "I Know", but since she has withdrawn, stand-by entry by Zanga has qualified. Lora's withdrawal has started legal dispute as according to the rules in the case artist withdraws from the National Preselection without force majeure reason, he will have to pay fine in amount of 100,000 Euro. However, representative of performer stated that she has withdrawn before semifinal and was never formally announced as qualifier. TVR has informed that singer is still invited to attend the semifinal show and fulfill contractual obligations, and in case of her non-attendance situation will be considered by the legal team of the broadcaster.

The first gala of the Eurovision National Selection will be hosted by Ioana Voicu and Dan Helciug, and the band of the programme „Pianos Confrontations” on TVR 2, will accompany the artists throughout the live moments of the evening. In a show full of colour, elegance and good music, broadcast live from TVR's Studio 3, the viewers will have the chance to see the best competitors from this year's Eurovision, (as they were designated by the professional jury), together with stars from TVR and from Eurovision Romania. The 15 semi-finalists will take the stage and will be introduced by artists, who, along the years, have represented Romania at the Eurovision, such as - Elena Gheorghe, Luminiţa Anghel, Monica Anghel, Paula Seling, Cezar Ouatu, Marcel Pavel, Ovi and Dan Bittman – and by TVR stars such as: Mihai Constantin, Raluca Arvat, Marina Almăşan, Mircea Radu, Costin Deşliu, Stela Popa, Iulia Zgripcea, Radu Tudor and the coordinator of the Eurovision project 2017, Iuliana Marciuc.

On Sunday, 19 February, starting at 20.10, TVR 2, TVR International and TVR HD and broadcast live concert from Berăria H "Eurovision – sHow-!" - A special event in which the 15 semifinalists will meet with fans and friends for an evening on Eurovision music. Artists will perform songs from their own repertory, but also songs, which along the years, have won the Eurovision Song Contest trophy.

Selection semifinal will be held on Sunday, 26 February, 2017, and the final on 5 March broadcast live from Studioul Pangratti, in Bucharest. Top 10 entries to qualify from the Semifinal to the Final will be chosen by 100% Jury voting and National Selection winner will be chosen exclusively by the public, through the televoting.

Iuliana Marciuc and Bogdan Ghiţulescu and producers of the national preselection for the Eurovision 2017. Shows will be directed by Aurel Badea and hosted by Dan Helciug. Iuliana Marciuc will also lead Romanian delegation to Kyiv.

Ovidiu Anton, the winner of the National Selection 2016, comes back on the Eurovision Romania stage. The artist will have an electrifying recital on February 26th, in the semi-final of the competition. He will sing, together with Anton band, the latest songs and also the hit that brought him the Eurovision Romania 2016 trophy: Moment of Silence.

"I am glad to have this recital within the Romania Eurovision National Selection together with my new band ANTON", has declared Ovidiu Anton. "I do it in the first place for the Eurovision fans who have always supported me and for all the Romanians who stood by me. We will sing some of the new songs we have been working at in the last 6 months. "Anton rocks on"”, has the winner of the National Selection 2016 said

ABBA cover band ARRIVAL and guests from Switzerland, Spain and the Republic of Moldova who will represent their countries in Kyiv, performed during show final.

On 21 September, Irina Radu, president and general manager of the Romanian Television public broadcaster informed EVZ.ro that Romanian broadcaster has submitted preliminary application to take part in the Eurovision Song Contest, having in mind that it would be possible to withdraw without a financial penalty until 10 October. "Personally, I wish that the EBU will allow us, if we pay participating fee, to be allowed to participate", she highlighted.

On 14 October it was announced that Romanian Television and the European Broadcasting Union have reached an agreement to enable broadcast by the Romanian public television of the Eurovision Song Contest and the next two Football World Championships: 2018 and 2022.

The issue of the debt of TVR is already several years old and has culminated in the disqualification of the Romanian broadcaster from the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest. Since currently TVR has reached a sensible financial stability its management started negotiations with representatives of the EBU. It was decided that historical debt (approx. 10 million euros) will be paid out in the next three years and also fees will be paid for the rights for the competitions already contracted by the broadcaster up to 2022.

"I find it essential to fit the current income of the broadcaster and not to build castles in the sand, as it was done in the past. We do not want to go through times like that where we were taken out of the Eurovision contest or lost the European Football Championship 2016. We want to return to the state of 10 years ago and we count on this agreement", said Irina Radu, President and CEO of TVR

EBU has accepted that the current management of the broadcaster demonstrated transparency and the professional approach. In addition, the EBU will support TVR by a high-level advice procedure, which will be carried out by the European professionals free of charge, EBU mission visited Bucharest in the end of October.

Iuliana Marciuc, head of the Romanian delegation in the Eurovision 2017, informed News.ro news agency, that the Romanian Television did not have to pay the fee for the contest this year, worth 130,000 euros, as the amount was deferred after the exclusion from the competition held in Stockholm in 2016.

Помимо желанного приза, который создал художник Дан Дивричян, победитель национального отбора получил денежный приз в размере 5 тысяч евро, которые предназначены для подготовки к международному финалу. "Мы благодарим TVR за всю поддержку. У нас появилась возможность жить этой прекрасной мечтой при помощи телевидения Румынии. Мы благодарим всех зрителей, которые проголосовали за нас, и надеемся, что они будут гордиться нами. Мы будем представлять в Киеве всех тех, кто был здесь на финале национального отбора", заявили Илинка и Алекс в своей эмоциональной речи победителей.

"Я уверена, что эти молодой человек и девушка прекрасно представят нас в Киеве, и мы вместе с ними будем "йодлить" в этой семье Евровидения. Теперь нас ждет напряженный и сложный период подготовки к шоу в Киеве. С одной стороны, я очень довольна всей организацией, и, с другой стороны, я рада тем, что студия TVR была переполнена радостью и эмоциями - я думаю, что это самое важное. Илинка и Алекс Флоря считают, что у них хорошие шансы завоевать главный трофей Евровидения. Они хотят продемонстрировать взрывное и запоминающееся шоу, и уверены в том, что геополитика не создаст проблем, если песня достаточно хороша, чтобы преодолеть подобные барьеры. В интервью Ziua de Constanta они подчеркивают, что рады тому, что их трек соответствует слогану конкурса "уважайте разнообразие". Илинка обещает, что хореография номера будет броской, и они хотели бы создать какое-то особенное движение, чтобы выделить их выступление, такое, как было в "Gangnam Style" или "Waka Waka".

Они с нетерпением ждут возможности поехать в промо-тур с продвижением песни (их выступления уже подтверждены в Амстердаме, Лондоне и Мадриде, но будут рассмотрены и другие остановки), и верят в их шансы завоевать главный приз.

Алекс уже изучал актерское мастерство в Университете Овидия и думает, что это ему очень помогло, сильно повлияло на его личное и артистическое развитие. Илинка тоже бы хотела заняться актерским мастерством, но пока не выбрала в какой университет поступить. Они с радостью готовы к совместным проектам и после Евровидения, но будут уделять первоочередное внимание сольным карьерам, поскольку считают, что у них еще есть много, что они могут предложить как сольные исполнители.

Михай Александру изучал игру на виолончели в музыкальной школе им. Георга Энеску, и после этого продолжил получение образования в консерватории им. Киприана Порумбеску. Член Союза Композиторов Румынии, Михай завоевал множество призов за песни, им сочиненные. Михай также входил в состав важнейших национальных и международных жюри. Свою карьеру композитор начал в возрасте 20 лет в составе известной группы Iris. После этого он встретил певицу Николу, вместе с которой на протяжении многих лет выпускал хит за хитом. Он принимал свыше 20 раз участие в отборах на конкурс Евровидение в Румынии и Швейцарии.

Алекса Никулае - румынская певица, автор песен и продюсер. Алекса принимала участие в проекте Фабрика Звезд в 2005 и Megastar в 2006 году. В 2009 году она исполнила две песни на национальном отборе на конкурс Евровидение. В 2010 Алекса вновь приняла участие в национальном отборе, с песней Baby, которую написал Михай Александру. В 2013 и 2014 годах, она продолжила сотрудничество с Михаем Александру над песнями What is Love и Letting Go, которые исполнила Renee Santana, племянница легендарного Карлоса Сантаны.

- Каковы три наиболее интересных аспекта вашей песни?
- Мы переполнены энергией, положительной энергией, надо заметить. Мы любим петь и приносить улыбку на лица людей. Когда мы выступаем, мы всегда пытаемся поделиться позитивными вибрациями и радостью от пребывания на сцене с нашей публикой. Нам очень нравится то, что наша песня разнообразна, мы совмещаем рок, рэп и йодль для того, чтобы самовыразиться, и мы верим, что это показывает, насколько сильно мы любим музыку. Любую музыку.

- Каковы три наиболее впечатляющих факта о вас самих?
- Я (Илинка) - единственная исполнительница йодля в Румынии, и занимаюсь им с раннего возраста. Алекс очень разносторонний артист и я обожаю его голос. Я также пою оперу, а Алекс - актер.

- Есть ли у вас какой-либо счастливый ритуал перед выходом на сцену?

Национальный отбор

Телевидение Румынии начинало прием заявок на участие в национальном отборе Selecţia Naţională Eurovision 2017 20 декабря. Правила отбора были опубликованы 19 декабря и доступны здесь. Крайний срок приема заявок установлен на 22 января.

Песни должны быть отправлены по почте или доставлены напрямую в Registratura TVR (Calea Dorobanţilor nr. 191, sector 1, Bucureşti) на CD диске с пометкой "Национальный отбор на Евровидение 2017" на конверте, или отправлены в электронном виде на адрес eurovision.romania@tvr.ro. Заявка должна включать в себя инструментальную версию песни с записанным бэк-вокалом, соглашение между автором и артистом, позволяющее участвовать в национальном отборе, подписанное разрешение от всех владельцев авторских прав, текст песни и перевод на румынский язык, копию удостоверения личности авторов песни и исполнителей, контакты, подтверждение оплаты взноса за право участия в размере 200 лей (44 евро) за каждую поданную заявку.

Впервые в истории румынского участия на Евровидении, национальное отборочное жюри будет выбирать полуфиналистов национального отбора в специальном телешоу. Артисты представят свои песни на кастинге в студии TVR перед жюри 27-29 января 2017. В состав жюри войдут 5 профессионалов, которые подпишут свидетельство, о том, что никак не связаны с участвующими песнями, артистами или авторами, так чтобы это могло повлиять на их беспристрастность в голосовании. Каждый член жюри оценит каждую из песен по шкале 1 до 10 учитывая следующие критерии: 1) музыкальная форма, развитие мелодической темы, согласованность мелодических и ритмических элементов для создания надлежащей музыкальной конструкции, 2) аранжировку песни, 3) изобретательность и оригинальность музыкальной темы, 4) стилистическое разнообразие музыки в конкурсе, 5) качество вокального исполнения.

84 композиции примут участие в борьбе за билет в Киев. Среди исполнителей как местные звезды: Lora, Mihai Trăistariu, Florin Chilian, Maxim, Ianna Novac, Tavi Colen and Emma, Tudor Turcu, Nora Deneș, Cristina Vasiu, Teodora Dinu и Ramona Nerra, так и иностранные авторы из Швеции, Британии и США, все из которых надеются представить Румынию в Киеве в мае. В конкурсе также участвует ряд проектов продюсеров Marius Moga и Adrian Sână. Подсчет и проверка заявок проходили в штаб-квартире TVR, где документы вскрывались в присутствии нотариуса. "Я благодарю всех тех, кто отправил заявку на участие в конкурсе за их доверие, и мы уверяем их, что все наши усилия в эти дни нацелены на подготовку прослушиваний, которые пройдут с 27 по 29 января. Как мы и делали каждый год, мы предоставим в распоряжение участников технические условия наивысшего уровня. Мы будем транслировать прослушивания в записи в рамках серии программ на TVR", говорит Юлиана Марчук, продюсер национального отбора

Люминица Ангел, Паула Селинг, Ови Якобсен, Адриан Ромческу и Андрей Тудор станут членами жюри румынского отбора. Список полуфиналистов будет объявлен в специальном шоу в воскресенье, 12 февраля в 20:00 местного времени на TVR HD, TVR Moldova и TVR International. Было объявлено, что Лора была в списке финалистов с "I Know", но поскольку она отказалась от участия в шоу, ее заменила первая песня из списка ожидания - Zanga. Отказ Лоры дал старт правовому спору, поскольку согласно правилам отбора, в случае если артист отказывается от участия в нем без форс-мажора, он обязан заплатить штраф в размере 100 тысяч евро. Представители же исполнительницы отметили, что она отозвала свою заявку еще до полуфинала, и никогда формально не была объявлена его участницей. TVR сообщило, что приглашает певицу все-таки выступить в полуфинале и выполнить контрактные обязательства, а в случае неявки, ситуацию рассмотрит правовой отдел телеканала.

15 полуфиналистов будут представлены артистами, которые сами когда-то представляли Румынию на конкурсе Евровидение - Еленой Георге, Люминицей Ангел, Моникой Ангел, Паулой Селинг, Чезаром Оату, Марселом Павелом, Ови и Даном Биттманом - и звездами телеканала TVR, такими как Михай Константину, Ралука Арват, Марина Алмашан, Мирчя Раду, Костин Дешлиу, Стела Попа, Юлия Згрипчя, Раду Тудор и координатор проекта Евровидение 2017 Юлиана Марчук.

В воскресенье, 19 февраля в 20:10 местного времени, TVR2, TVR International и TVR HD покажут в прямом эфире концерт из Berăria H "Eurovision – sHow-!" - специальное мероприятие, в рамках которого 15 полуфиналистов встретятся со своими друзьями и фанатами в вечере музыки Евровидения. Артисты представят как песни из собственного репертуара, так и песни, которые были победителями конкурсов Евровидения разных лет.

Полуфинал отбора пройдет в воскресенье, 26 февраля 2017 года, а финал 5го марта в Studioul Pangratti, Бухарест. Лучшие 10 песен, которые выйдут из полуфинала в финал будут выбраны 100% голосованием жюри. Победитель национального отбора будет выбран 100% голосованием зрителей.

Юлиана Марчук и Богдан Гицулеску станут продюсерами национального отбора на Евровидение 2017. Режиссером шоу станет Аурел Бадеа, а ведущим - Дан Хельциуг. Юлиана Марчук также возглавит делегацию Румынии на конкурсе в Киеве.

Овидиу Антон, победитель национального отбора 2016, вновь вернется на его сцену. Артист представит мини-программу в рамках полуфинала, который состоится 26 февраля. Он выступит вместе со своей группой Anton и исполнит свои новые хиты, и песню-победительницу прошлого года Moment of Silence.

"Я рад тому, что мы выступим в рамках национального отбора вместе с моей новой группой ANTON", говорит Овидиу. "Прежде всего я делаю это ради тех фанатов Евровидения, которые поддерживали меня, и всех румын, которые были со мной. Мы споем несколько новых песен, над которыми мы работали последние 6 месяцев. 21 сентября, Ирина Раду, президент и генеральный директор Румынского общественного телевидения сообщила EVZ.ro о том, что румынский вещатель подал предварительную заявку на участие в конкурсе Евровидение, учитывая то, что будет возможным снять ее без финансового штрафа до 10 октября. Лично я надеюсь, что ЕВС допустит нас, если мы заплатим взнос за право участия, мы должны быть допущены до участия в конкурсе", подчеркнула она.

14 октября было объявлено, что Румынское телевидение и Европейский вещательный союз достигли соглашения о допуске румынского общественного телевидения к участию в конкурсе Евровидение, а также к трансляции двух предстоящих Чемпионатов Мира по футболу: 2018 и 2022 годов.

Вопрос о задолженности TVR поднимается несколько лет и его кульминацией стала дисквалификация румынской телекомпании с конкурса Евровидение 2016. Поскольку в настоящее время TVR достигла достаточной финансовой стабильности, ее руководство начало переговоры с представителями ЕВС. Было решено, что исторический долг (ок. 10 млн евро) будет выплачен в течение ближайших трех лет, а также будут оплачены взносы за соревнования, на трансляцию которых уже были заключены договоры, вплоть до 2022 года.

"Я считаю необходимым соответствовать текущему доходу вещателя и не строить замки на песке, как это делалось в прошлом. Мы не хотим еще раз пройти через то, когда мы были дисквалифицированы на конкурсе Евровидение или лишились чемпионата Европы по футболу. Мы хотим вернуть вещателя в состояние 10 лет назад, и очень рассчитываем на данное соглашение", заявила Ирина Раду, президент и генеральный директор TVR

ЕВС счел, что текущее управление вещателя продемонстрировало прозрачность и свой профессиональный подход. Кроме того, ЕВС будет поддерживать TVR с помощью процедуры консультаций высокого уровня, которые будут проводиться европейскими специалистами бесплатно. Миссия ЕВС посетила Бухарест в конце октября.

Юлиана Марчук, глава делегации Румынии на Евровидении 2017 проинформировала новостное агентство News.ro, что Румынское телевидение не оплачивало взнос за право участия в конкурсе в этом году. Сумма в 130 тысяч евро была перенесена на этот год с прошлого, когда Румыния была исключена из числа участников Евровидения 2016 в Стокгольме.
