Alex, aged 35, from Welwyn Garden City and Bianca, aged 26, from Beckenham in Kent will be flying the flag for the United Kingdom in Vienna. Electro Velvet's debut song ‘Still in Love With You', an up tempo electro-swing track written by David Mindel and Adrian Bax White, was selected from hundreds of entries following an open selection process.

Born in Welwyn Garden City, Alex Larke's passion for music began at the age of 15 when he received a copy of the Oasis album (What's The Story) Morning Glory. From that moment on, Alex was transfixed and from then on knew that all that he wanted to do was play guitar, write and sing. Alex is currently lead singer for tribute group The Rollin' Clones, one of the biggest Rolling Stones tribute shows in the world. Alex has toured the UK and internationally and absolutely loves every minute of being with the band, the music and performing as Mick.He has recently worked with Big Beat pioneer Cut La Roc on his album Larger Than Life, which also featured the talents of Ice-T collaborator, Donald D and Snow Patrol frontman, Gary Lightbody.

Outside of performing, Alex has taken all the musical experience he has gained over the years and used it to educate the next generation of budding musicians, working part-time in a primary school, teaching ukulele and recorder. Last year, Alex was privileged to work in a special needs school with children and young adults with profound to severe learning difficulties. He found it to be one of the most incredible, rewarding and fun things he has done in his life.

"I feel incredibly privileged and humbled to be representing the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, for this massively historic 60th anniversary event. Larke is scheduled to appear with "The Rollin' Clones" on the several concerts in March - April, including Devon, Ollerton, Swindon, Leicester, Somerset and Herefordshire.

Bianca Nicholas was born in Beckenham, Kent and from an early age was interested in the performing arts. At just five-years-old, Bianca played the lead role in the Cannes Film Festival award- winning short film, ‘Is It the Design on the Wrapper?' and in her early teens, she appeared alongside Johnny Depp in the Hollywood blockbuster, Sleepy Hollow. But at 15 Bianca decided she was determined to follow her true passion, music. Her career started when she was granted a wish by Starlight Children's Foundation to do a top recording studio in London with a number of cover singles for a special CD. Bianca went on to sing at a string of high-profile charity events which has seen her duet with Will Young, tour with Classical Brit winners ‘Blake' and perform for Princes William and Harry as well as the Duchess of Cambridge. Bianca also sang at the turning on of the Regent Street Christmas lights in 2011 where she performed her debut single 'Hold On To Your Dreams' which was a top 100 single and number 1 on the iTunes Vocal Chart - a huge achievement for an unsigned artist.

The single re-entered the vocal chart at number 2 in 2013 when the Heart FM Breakfast team played the song on air as part of their ‘Have a Heart' charity appeal and more recently, Bianca appeared on The Voice UK in 2014 and despite she was not chosen, her blind audition with "One" by U2 has now amassed over 250,000 views on YouTube. Since The Voice UK Bianca has kept busy with gigs and live session radio performances. All of which has led to her representing the UK alongside her friend Alex at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015.

Bianca also has cystic fibrosis, an inherited disease which causes the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system, to become clogged with thick, sticky mucus. Symptoms of cystic fibrosis include a troublesome cough, repeated chest infections, digestion problems and poor weight gain. The illness requires rigorous physiotherapy and medication. Each day, Bianca has to spend up to 20 minutes doing breathing exercises and takes between 30 and 40 tablets as well as using nebulisers and inhalers. She also has to inject herself each morning with growth hormone. But she hasn't allowed her illness to blight her passion for music. "My therapies and treatments are time-consuming and sometimes my illness get me down, but I find that singing really lifts my mood and cheers me up", she says.

"I am so proud to have been chosen to be a part of the world's biggest song contest. It's such an honour to represent the UK, especially in its 60th year too! I have never been to Austria before, and I can't wait to get out to Vienna and do my best, and I hope to make the UK proud!"

David Mindel has had a successful career in song-writing, working with the likes of Olivia-Newton John, Barry Manilow, The Shadows, John Travolta, Mud and Musical Youth to name but a few. Following a successful song writing career, David embarked on a new chapter - writing and recording some four thousand TV and radio commercials, including penning the themes for BBC One's National Lottery and Euromillions TV shows. Adrian Bax White is a classically trained multi-instrumentalist whose eclectic music career has spanned pop to fusion jazz with everything in between. Adrian has worked with a multitude of singers from multi Grammy award-winners such as John McLaughlin and Narada Michael Walden to underground indies such as Blue Orchids and acid jazz godfather Lonnie Liston Smith.

ESCKAZ.com had a privilege to meet UK ESC 2015 representatives Electro Velvet, who were attending the "Eurovision's Greatest Hits" show and asked them a few questions about their contest preparations. "It feels phenomenal, we're incredibly proud, humbled and looking forward to this opportunity. We can't wait to get there", say Alex and Bianca about the participation in the upcoming show. The duo is also happy for being invited to become the special warm up act for the "Eurovision's Greatest Hits". "It is really inspiring to see the past winners, and may be we can get a few tips from them".

At the contest the British duo of Alex Larke and Bianca Nicholas will be performing "Still In Love With You". They say they have been acquainted for almost a year doing some bits and pieces together, getting along well straight away and are a good friends now. "The name Electro Velvet came about because the song is the rough with the smooth as there is the roughness of the electronic and the smoothness of the velvet. Also you can notice that EV can stand for Eurovision abbreviation as well, so this will remain as tribute to the contest that have united us in a duet", explains Bianca. "We have a mutual friend of us, David Mindel, whom we were looking to do some songs together with anyway, and suggested this song which he has written some years ago to us and we absolutely loved the song, and he said he is going to enter it to Eurovision, which sounded even better, we jumped on a chance, recorded the song, filmed a video of us singing it and entered all information in the preselection process. And now we're here", performers describe the history of their song. After being chosen, the duet had to record a more professional music video than the one they have submitted originally. "The contrast with the self-produced video was huge, we were just blown away, so proud to be working with so many people. It was a phenomenal day of recording, just watching all those people working was mind-blowing for us".

The hardest thing next was to keep things quiet for a while: "Those were the hardest six weeks of my life, when I had to keep the things secret. All those excuses, going to London for the shopping, but returning back with nothing bought, it was enormous difficulty. We were very relieved when we finally can inform friends and families, and they were over the Moon", says Alex. The duet is impressed with the reaction their song has received so far. "There was a big divide, but then the song has really made people talking, it is collecting views on Youtube, quite a few more than the other entries this year".

"Eurovision is one of kind of events that have own rules and how the things work. You don't know what's going to win, Conchita was a shock win last year. She wasn't bookies favourite, people weren't expecting her to win, but still she managed so. Her victory came as a pretty unexpected, but I always loved her, I'm really big fan of her, so I'll probably have a big fan moment meeting her later today", says Bianca. The British singers have already listened to the other competing entries in ESC 2015 and have few things to highlight. "Guy Sebastian has a really good song, because there are many ballads this year and he has an upbeat one, he is definitely a contender", says Bianca. "PKN are my favourites, because I grew up with the punk music, Sex Pistols and all that, and that's a good one for me. I also used to work with special kids, and I think they bring really positive influence", adds Alex. The duet that plans to keep working together after Eurovision as well, is more united in selected their favourite Eurovision entry ever - "We both like Gina G, it's one of the most "Eurovision" songs, it's upbeat, poppy, catchy, has every needed element in it".

Electro Velvet says they don't know the winning recipe, but think UK will eventually win the competition once again one day. "We're trying something different every year, this time we're entering a genre that UK has never entered before, and we hope one year UK can do it, and hopefully it will be this year". Are they looking for the victory themselves? "Well, you enter it because you want to win it. But what we can personally do is to work as hard as we can to give our best performance in the night. And just enjoy it", says Bianca. "Yes, as long as we know that we've done our best, put in all the work that we possibly can, so hopefully the rest will fall into it's place as well", adds Alex. Speaking about the stage presentation for the big night they only promise: "Wait and see, it's going to be really wonderful!".

BBC has announced the return of the BBC Radio 2 Eurovision pop-up digital radio service to celebrate the best of the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 and complement programming of the annual singing competition on BBC Radio 2 and TV networks BBC One and BBC Three. Tune in to Radio 2 Eurovision from Thursday 21 May by visiting the pop-up digital radio at bbc.co.uk/eurovision, on DAB Digital Radio and listen via the BBC iPlayer Radio App and UK Radio Player.

The digital radio pop-up service, which launched for the first time last year, will offer Eurovision fans the most comprehensive coverage of the song contest to date, kicking off on Thursday 21 May through to Sunday 24 May with a mix of live shows, interviews and musical treats in the 60th anniversary year of the famous competition. The pop-up service will feature shows hosted by Paddy O’Connell, Scott Mills, Sara Cox, Ken Bruce, Steve Wright, Maria McErlane and Sir Terry Wogan, who famously presented the UK TV coverage of Eurovision on BBC One from 1973 to 2008, with his cutting commentary and deadpan one-liners a signature of Eurovision nights.

Radio 2 Eurovision will air from midday Thursday and Friday and 10am across the weekend until midnight each day over the four-day transmission that will have listeners dancing under their disco balls. On the day of the final on Saturday 23 May, two shows will be simulcast with Radio 2. BBC One Eurovision host Graham Norton’s morning programme will air on both networks between 10am and 1pm bringing the nation all the buzz and build-up to the evening’s main event live from this year’s host city, Vienna. Then from 8pm the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 goes live, bringing fans all the action from the Austrian capital as the singing spectacular gets underway.

BBC has released few images from filming of the first part of British postcard for ESC 2015.

The duo behind the UK's Eurovision entry have welcomed criticism of their song, "Still in Love With You". The Guardian called the track "nightmarish", while The Independent branded it "instantly forgettable". But singer Alex Larke told the BBC: "I like the fact it divides opinion. It's better than everyone having apathy for it. The video's had something like 300,000 views already which is crazy. And any publicity is good publicity. 180m people are still going to tune in and watch it on the night, and we're so proud to be taking part."" Bianca Nicholas, who shares the vocals, added: "There's a lot of ballads this year, so our song will stand out. It's also the 60th anniversary year, so it's a party song for a party year. I think we're different and we're really looking forward to it." Larke described it as a "Marmite song", while Nicholas pointed out that "a party song" was "really fitting" as Eurovision celebrates its 60th anniversary. "You enter a competition because you want to win and that's what we're going to try to do. We're going to work really hard – all we can do is our best and just enjoy it,", says Bianca.

The duo, who go by the name of Electro Velvet, did not exist before Eurovision, although Larke said he had been "looking to write some songs with Bianca". The song was written by David Mindel, a jingle writer whose previous credits include the theme tunes for National Lottery Live and Jim'll Fix It. "We'd been together for a few months before it came to Eurovision. We were going to be writing some songs together, then our mutual friend David Mindel got in touch and said ‘Guys, I've got this song, do you want to sing on it? We're going to enter it into Eurovision.' We loved it and jumped at the chance and that was it. We're well acquainted – don't worry...". The pair will head over to Austria later this month, and say it's a relief not to have to keep their involvement a secret anymore. "It's been a very long six weeks", admits Alex. "I don't think either of us are very good liars either,", laughs Bianca. "You can't keep doing ‘all day shopping trips' and not come back with anything. It was quite a challenge".

Preselection

Once again, UK entry for Eurovision Song Contest 2015 will be selected internally. However, this year BBC has invited interested artists to submit their entries in form of a video recording. Submission period run from 6 October to 7 November 2014. In addition to the submissions they received from the public, the BBC also considered entries from record labels and the BBC Introducing platform. A panel of experts was due to listen to all entries by 14 November 2014 and inform shortlisted artists no later than 21 November 2014.

UK Eurovision entry will be revealed on the evening of Saturday 7th March, at 22:25 CET, straight after The Voice, on the BBC Red Button service, bbc.co.uk/eurovision and Eurovision.tv. Head of delegation Guy Freeman explains that there were 200-300 submissions received, all of them were reviewed by a panel of about dozen experts, and about 12 entries made it into the initial shortlist.

"Last autumn, we opened the sparkling Eurovision door to anyone who wished to submit a song and performer for consideration as our UK entry for the 2015 Contest. The result of that open submission process was a very impressive collection of songs, of every conceivable type, that came in from a huge variety of amateur and professional writers and performers. Thank you to everyone who made the effort and got involved. Some of the submitted songs were easily good enough to be commercial tracks straight away and others had clear potential, so it wasn't hard to draw up an initial shortlist of interesting contenders. What we did next, was consider the strengths and weaknesses of each song in detail, with the realities of the Contest foremost in mind. We also gave the shortlisted writers an opportunity to come back with any further suggestions or refinements which they thought would really maximise the impact of their songs. Ultimately, one song stood out as having both instant impact and real memory staying power"

Симптомы муковисцидоза включают в себя тяжелый кашель, частые бактериальные инфекции, проблемы с пищеварением и плохое прибавление веса. Заболевание требует строгой физиотерапии и приема лекарств. Каждый день, Бьянке приходится тратить до 20 минут на дыхательные упражнения, принимать от 30 до 40 таблеток, а также лечиться с помощью распылителей и ингаляторов. Она также должна вводить себя каждое утро гормон роста. Но она не позволяет своей болезни негативно сказываться на ее страсти к музыке. Она не была фаворитом букмекеров, люди не ожидали ее победы, но все равно она смогла этого добиться. В преддверии 60го юбилейного конкурса Евровидение, который пройдет в этом году в Вене, британская телерадиокомпания BBC приглашает всех желающих проголосовать в опросе за звание любимой песни-победительницы Евровидения всех времен. Голосование продлится с 11 утра 13го апреля, и у вас будет неделя - до полудня в понедельник 20го апреля - чтобы высказать свое мнение.

Ведущий BBC Radio 2 Кен Брюс проведет отсчет лучшей 20ки победивших песен начиная с понедельника, 18го мая. Победителя - самую популярную песню-победительницу всех времен - он огласит в пятницу, 22го мая, когда выйдет в прямой эфир радиостанции из Вены. На онлайн версии радиостанции, Radio 2 Eurovision, можно будет услышать отсчет Топ 40 песен.



BBC объявило о возвращении онлайн радиостанции BBC Radio 2 Eurovision, которая будет дополнять регулярные программы о конкурсе, выходящие на BBC Radio 2 и телеканалах BBC One и BBC Three. Радиостанцию можно будет слушать с четверга, 21 мая по адресу bbc.co.uk/eurovision, на цифровом радио DAB, а также посредством BBC iPlayer Radio App и UK Radio Player.

Radio 2 Eurovision будет вещать с полудня в четверг, пятницу и с 10 утра по выходным до полуночи каждый день своего четырехдневного эфира. BBC опубликовало несколько фотографий со съемок открытки Великобритании для Евровидения 2015.

Дуэт, получивший название Electro Velvet, не существовал до Евровидения, хотя Ларк и говорит, что он "планировал написать с Бианкой несколько песен". Конкурсная композиция была написана Давидом Минделом, известным как автор рекламных радио роликов, и тематических песен для Национальной Лотереи и программы Jim'll Fix It. Национальный отбор

В очередной раз, песня Великобритании на Евровидении 2015 будет выбрана внутренним отбором. Однако, в этом году телекомпания BBC пригласила заинтересованных артистов подавать заявки в форме видеозаписей. Период их приема продлился с 6го октября по 7е ноября 2014 года. В дополнение к заявкам полученным от публики, BBC рассматривало также заявки, предоставленные звукозаписывающими лейблами, и принятые через платформу для молодых артистов BBC Introducing. Экспертное жюри должно было прослушать все заявки до 14го ноября 2014 года и уведомить артистов, отобранных для дальнейшего сотрудничества, не позднее 21 ноября.

Песня Великобритании на Евровидении будет впервые представлена публике в ночь с 7 на 8 марта, в 00:25 Москвы, сразу после эфира программы "Голос" на BBC One, посредством интерактивного сервиса "красная кнопка", а также сайтов bbc.co.uk/eurovision и Eurovision.tv. Глава делегации Великобритании Гай Фримен объясняет, что было получено 200-300 заявок, все они были прослушаны жюри из порядка 10 экспертов, и около 12 песен были выбраны в первоначальный короткий список.

"Прошлой осенью, мы приоткрыли сверкающую дверь Евровидения для всех тех, кто желал подать заявку на участие в Евровидении 2015 в качестве автора или исполнителя. Результатом этого открытого процесса подачи заявок стала собранная весьма впечатляющая коллекция песен каждого возможного стиля, которые поступили как от профессионалов, так и от авторов и исполнителей-любителей. Спасибо всем, кто приложил усилия и принял участие в процессе.
