16/02 Delivering News First! A week ago ESCKaz has revealed that band Kvatro is the most likely candidate to represent Russia at the Eurovision 2009 in Moscow, however, apparently they were still looking for a suitable song to enter the national final.

Today, Swedish singer Mans Zelmerlow (a favourite to represent Sweden himself) has announced that he has written a song for a Russian national selection. It is very likely, that his song will be performed by the band Kvatro.

"It is great song", said Mans about the song he wrote together with Aleena Gibson. "It 's super exciting". According to Mans, he would not miss a huge opportunity to represent Russia as a songwriter in the contest taking place in Moscow. "My song has already created a big buzz there, and organizers aim to give it to the band, sort of Russian Il Divo". Meanwhile, Mans himself is performing at the demo version.

Неделю назад ESCKaz сообщил о том, что группа Кватро в настоящее время рассматривается как самый вероятный кандидат, чтобы представить на конкурсе Евровидение 2009 Россию, однако, на тот момент казалось, что у группы до сих пор нет подходящей песни для конкурса.

Сегодня шведский певец Монс Зелмерлев (сам являющийся в настоящее время фаворитом шведского национального отбора) объявил о том, что он написал песню для отборочного тура в России. Весьма вероятно, что именно эта песня будет исполнена группой Кватро.

"Это великолепная песня", говорит Монс о своем совместном с Алииной Гибсон творении. "Я очень рад этой возможности". 16/02 Today, Le Soir newspaper has revealed identity of the Elvis who will represent Belgium at the Eurovision 2009. It is Patrick Ouchene, 43 year-old Elvis Presley lookalike from Brussels, member of rockabilly band Runnin' Wild, who also was member in The Domino's scoring minor hit "Je Suis Swing" and The Million Dollar Sunrise - an act featuring Runnin’ Wild’s Koen as Johnny Cash, Mario as Carl Perkins and Patrick Ouchene as Elvis plus Marcel Riesco (Truly Lover Trio) as Roy Orbison.

He is also Manager/Organisator of several summer festivals in Belgium, with multiple artists and bands from all around the world, since 2003 with the A.S.B.L "ASK4", also producing a workshop to initiate kids and teenagers to the Rock'n'Roll world and the History of Music.

The song author is said to be Jacques Duvall (aka Eric Verwilghen) (worked with Lio, Alain Chamfort, Etienne Daho, Jane Birkin, Marc Lavoine and on the latest release of Runnin' Wild "I Dressed In Black Today"). The theme of the song "Copycat" is a game on this double identity (Elvis and Ouchene).

"I'm excited by a new project!!!", says website of the singer, who has been congratulated on his Eurovision participation by visitors of the site. Site of the band Runnin' Wild hints on some event in Moscow on May 2nd - which likely is departure date for Belgian delegation to Moscow.

16-17/02 Delivering News First! Ukrainian jury still hasn't announced it's decision on the finalists of the national selection. ESCKaz expects that after EBU has expressed it's interest in preselection (Eurovision coordinator Svante Stockselius is currently in Kiev), several artists that have broken regulations will be disqualified from the competition. Announcement of the list of finalists is expected to take place on Wednesday, 18th of February, at 14.00 local time at the NTU press-conference.

Also, it has been announced, that on the same day, 18th of February but at 12.00, two hours earlier, independent press-conference, devoted to the "demonstration of several breaches by First National Channel of the preselection regulations" will take place. It will feature singer Anastasia Prihodko, who performed during semifinal 2007 song, translated in Ukrainian, with prerecorded backing vocals and length over 3 minutes, Elena Mozgovaya, ex executive of NTU and Igor Goncharenko, producers of ART-Music company now working with Anastasia.

Meanwhile, due to the delay, the national final seem to be rescheduled as well, it will take place on 8th of March in Ukraina hall, featuring several Ukrainian previous ESC entrants. Tickets are already available for purchase.

National semifinal will be broadcast on 21st of February, 17.30 CET, preceeded by a documentary devoted to one of the participants of the national selection, GODO'

Украинское жюри до сих пор не объявило своего решения о выборе финалистов шоу. ESCKaz полагает, что после проявленного со стороны ЕВС интереса к отбору (координатор конкурса, Сванте Стокселиус находится в настоящее время в Киеве) ряд артистов, нарушивших регламент, будут дисквалифицированы с отборочного тура. Официальное оглашение списка финалистов произойдет в среду, 18го февраля в 14.00 на пресс-конференции НТУ.

Также, объявлено, что 18го февраля, в 12.00, на два часа ранее пресс-конференции НТУ, состоится независимая пресс-конференция, посвященная обнародованию неких "фактов нарушения Первым Национальным телеканалом регламента отборочного тура". В ней примут участие певица Анастасия Приходько, исполнявшая на отборе песню 2007 года с новым текстом на украинском языке, длиннее 3х минут и с записанными бэк-вокалами, Елена Мозговая, бывший организатор нац. отборов НТУ и Игорь Гончаренко, продюсеры компании ART-Music, работающие сейчас с Анастасией.

Тем временем, из-за задержки с оглашением финалистов, видимо перенесена и дата финала национального отбора. Он пройдет 8го марта во дворце Украина, в качестве гостей на нем выступят ряд бывших представителей Украины. Билеты уже поступили в продажу.

Полуфинал национального отбора будет показан 21го февраля в 19.30 Москвы. Предварять его будет программа, посвященная одному из участников национального отбора, GODO'

13/02 Irish RTE has announced the list of 6 finalists of the national preselection. A song "I Wish I Could Pretend" written by Latvian 2003 ESC representative Lauris Reiniks, now withdrawn from Latvian preselection, is believed to be favourite for the juries in the first voting round. Jury panel involved: Eurovision winner Linda Martin, Mark Crossingham from Universal Ireland, choreographer Julian Benson, Eurovision Commentator Larry Gogan, and Diarmuid Furlong from OGAE Ireland.

13/02 ESCKaz's Anton Kulakov will be one of the persons behind Russian language radio "NeKlishe" (No Cliche) to be launched today, on 13th of February of 2009. This radio-station will also produce Eurovision specials, including news, talk-shows, history section and etc in partnership with ESCKaz.
First "Eurovision.ru" show will be aired on 13 february at 22.00 Moscow time. On 14th february at 22.00 Moscow time – "Eurovision Countdown", show about all preselections that will take place on that evening (Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Spain, Poland, Lithuania, Armenia, Moldova).

12/02 Delivering News First! The Land of Fire announced the launch of the Eurovision duet of AySel and the author of her song Always. In the second ESC semi-final on 14 May in Moscow, young AySel will compete for the victory in Eurovision with the experienced songwriter and artist Arash by her side.

The decision to create the duet of AySel and Arash was taken by the 7-member jury of the Azerbaijani national final for the ESC 2009. This decision was heavily influenced by Arash’s own statements, which he made when his song Always won the Azerbaijani national selection to represent the country in Eurovision 2009. Arash was adamant that he is not only a songwriter and composer, but also a successful singer, and that is why he would like “to be on the Eurovision 2009 stage, and not just on its backstage.” This sincere acknowledgment of the author of Always gave the start to the Eurovision duet from Azerbaijan.

“This idea came to us already at the first audition of Arash’s song,” said Farhad Hajiyev, one of the jury members. “His song is about love, beautiful and pure, and love is always about two people! When in an interview Arash expressed his desire to perform for Azerbaijan, we arrived at a firm decision that our country will be represented by this romantic duet - AySel and Arash. Moreover, Arash has some Azerbaijani roots, as you may know!”

The popular songwriter and singer makes no secret that he has long been interested in the Eurovision Song Contest. In addition, one of the decisive factors for him was the offer to sing in duet with AySel.

“Performing with AySel was important for me, since I wrote Always specifically for her,” said Arash. “It is my sincere desire now to make our duet into something special for Eurovision 2009.”

Before announcing the duet, the Azerbaijani national jury made a somewhat unusual decision: to record a working version of Always performed by AySel and Arash. It is the song, they believe, that is the most important factor for a good result, let alone victory, in Eurovision.

“I was a little nervous,” said AySel after the recording. “Not about meeting Arash, just about the outcome of the recording. My worries proved to be groundless! We spend 48 hours in the studio, almost entirely; we changed and tweaked the song endlessly. The result of all our work you will hear very soon! What concern Arash, I am impressed by his professionalism as well as his open and friendly personality and charm.”

The work on the song continues. Tentatively, the presentation of Always by the duet of AySel and Arash is scheduled for as early as the end of February. The Azerbaijani representatives are currently negotiating with some of the best European directors. The intention is to create not just a Contest act but a true 3-minute Eurovision show under the same name – Always. According to Adil Kerimli, Head of the Azerbaijani Delegation, the work on the show is expected to begin by the end of this month, and its presentation will tentatively take place in mid-March in one of the European capitals.

Страна огней объявила о создании евровизионного дуэта AySel & Arash. 14 мая в Москве во втором полуфинале "Евровидения 2009" юная AySel вместе с опытным исполнителем Арашем - автором победившей в азербайджанском нацотборе песни Always - будут бороться за победу для Азербайджана.

Решение о создании дуэта AySel & Arash приняло жюри азербайджанского нацфинала "Евровидения 2009" в составе семи человек. Поводом этому послужило заявление самого Араша после того, как его композиция Always была признана лучшей в ходе национального отбора на участие в "Евровидении 2009" от Азербайджана. Уже тогда Араш намекнул, что он является не только автором и композитором, но и успешным исполнителем и "поэтому ему бы очень хотелось быть на сцене "Евровидения 2009", а не за кулисами". Столь откровенное признание автора песни Always стало решающим сигналом для создания евровизионного дуэта от Азербайджана.

"Эта идея возникла у нас еще во время первого прослушивания песни Араша, - заявил один из членов жюри Фархад Гаджиев. – Ведь его песня о прекрасной и такой чистой любви, а ведь любовь это всегда двое! Когда сам Араш в своем интервью заявил о желании выступить за Азербайджан, мы окончательно утвердились в том, что нашу страну представит этот романтический дуэт - AySel & Arash. Тем более, как известно у Араша есть азербайджанские корни!"

Популярный автор и исполнитель не скрывает, что сам конкурс "Евровидение" уже не первый год представляет для него большой интерес. Также одним из решающих факторов для него стало то, что в дуэте ему предложили спеть именно с AySel.

"Важным момент для меня было то, что я буду выступать с AySel, ведь именно для нее я писал песню Always, - сказал Араш. - Теперь мне хочется, чтобы наш дуэт с AySel стал чем-то особенным и для "Евровидения 2009".

Прежде чем официально огласить о создание дуэта национальное жюри Азербайджана приняло слегка нестандартное решение – записать рабочий вариант Always в исполнении AySel и Араша. Ведь именно песня, по их мнению, является важнейшим фактором для хорошего результата и тем более победы на "Евровидении".

"Я немного переживала, - сказала после записи AySel. – Но не относительно нашего знакомства с Арашем, а лишь по поводу результата записи. И как оказалось зря! Мы 48 часов почти безвылазно провели в студии, все время что-то изменяли и дополняли в песне. Что же получилось в итоге, вы услышите уже совсем скоро! А относительно самого Араша то я поражена его профессионализмом, впрочем, как и личным, чисто человеческими качествами".

В данный момент продолжается работа над композицией. Предварительно презентация песни Always дуэта AySel & Arash назначена уже на вторую половину февраля. В данный момент азербайджанские представители ведут переговоры с лучшими режиссерами-постановщиками Европы для того, чтобы создать не просто конкурсный номер, а настоящее трехминутное шоу для "Евровидения" с аналогичным названием Always. Как заявил глава азербайджанской делегации Адиль Керимли, работа над постановкой шоу должна начаться уже в этом месяце и его презентация состоится ориентировочно в середине марта в одной из европейских столиц.

Шоу 14го февраля будет проходить в формате, аналогичном самому Евровидению с такой же системой голосования (жюри и СМС), грин-румом и пресс-конференцией победителя по его окончанию.

EBU has published accreditation guidances and list of official hotels for Eurovision 2009 in Moscow.

The accreditation starts from 12th of February and will end on 20th of April. It is run on the Eurovision Family website. There are several changes, compared to the previous years.

This year, only P (press) and F (fan) categories will be granted. According to the EBU guidances P accreditation will be only provided to media which are available to the public in sales outlets, through publically accessible radio frequencies, television channels or internet sites. The media outlet should be registered at the Chamber of Commerce, or should be legally established otherwise. Publishers, marketing personnel, sub-editors, staff of the publication's secretariat, advertising agency representatives, public relations agencies, students, fans of the Eurovision Song Contest, internal magazines of companies, trade magazines, and newsletters (or representatives of) one of the participating artists can never be accredited as press. However, at the sole discretion of the EBU's acting Head of Press, and where the quality and circulation criteria justify their consideration, such publications may be eligible for accreditation on a case by case basis.

Also, it is specifically noted that accreditation should be submitted only:
- Via the delegation of the country where your passport was issued
- Via the delegation of the country where you are legally residing
- Via the delegation of the country the media outlet you represent is registered
- Via the EBU if you come from or reside in a non-participating country

P accreditation will provide access to:
- access to the Press Working Area, Interview Area and the Press Conference Area;
- access to a designated area inside the Arena during Open Rehearsals;
- access to a designated area inside the Arena during at least one of the Dress Rehearsals of each event;
- access to the EuroClub, opening- and afterparties.

There will be limited number of 430 F (fan) accreditations available. Unlike press:
- fans will have access to Fan Area rather than the Press Working Area
- fans will have access only to the first press-conference of each delegation
- access of fans to opening- and afterparties will depend on the capacities.

VISA: If required, a special form to obtain a single entry visa to the Russian Federation will be sent to each applicant by email, within 10 working days after the application was approved, by the Visa Department of the City of Moscow. With this form and the required documents, you can apply for visa at the embassy or consulate that you filled in on your application. The single entry visa will be valid from 1 May to 30 May, 2009. ЕВС опубликовал правила аккредитации и список официальных отелей на Евровидение 2009 в Москве.

Аккредитационный период начинается 12го февраля и продлится до 20го апреля. Заявки на аккредитацию принимаются посредством сайта Семья Евровидения. По сравнению с прошлыми годами, в процессе аккредитации произошел ряд изменений.

В этом году будет существовать только 2 категории аккредитаций P (пресса) и F (фанат). Согласно требования ЕВС, аккредитация категории P будет даваться только тем СМИ, которые зарегистированы в Торговой Палате или другом уполномоченном органе. Издатели, маркетинговый персонал, редакторы разделов, работники секретариана, представители рекламных и пиар-агентств, студенты, фанаты Евровидения, внутренние издания компаний, торговые журналы и новостные рассылки (или представители) участвующих артистов не имеют права быть аккредитованы как пресса. Однако, по решению Главы Прессы от ЕВС, если качество и распространение данных изданий подтверждают их значительность, подобные публикации могут быть рассмотрены и решение по ним будет выноситься в каждом конкретном случае.

Также, в этом году особенно отмечено, что заявки на аккредитацию будут приниматься только:
- через делегацию той страны, где выдан ваш паспорт
- через делегацию той страны, где вы легально проживаете
- через делегацию той страны, где зарегистрировано СМИ, которое вы представляете
- через ЕВС, если вы гражданин или житель неучаствующей страны

Аккредитация категории P обеспечивает:
- доступ к Рабочей области Прессы, области Интервью и залу Пресс-конференций
- доступ в специальные зоны в зале конкурса во время открытых репетиций
- доступ в специальные зоны в зале конкурса во время по меньшей мере одной из генеральных репетиций каждого концерта
- доступ в Евроклуб, на вечеринки открытия и закрытия

Всего будет выдано весьма ограниченное количество в 430 аккредитаций F (фанат). По сравнению с прессой:
- фанаты смогут иметь доступ в Фанатскую зону, а не Рабочую область прессы
- фанаты будут иметь доступ только к первой пресс-конференции каждой из делегаций
- доступ фанатов на вечеринки открытия или закрытия будет определен в зависимости от вместимости мест их проведения

ВИЗА: При необходимости, специальная форма для получения однократной визы в Российскую Федерацию будет выслана Визовым Департаментом города Москвы по e-mail каждому аккредитованному лицу, в течении 10 рабочих дней после утверждения его аккредитации. С помощью этой формы и других необходимых документов вы сможете подать заявку на получение визы в посольстве или консульстве, указанном в вашей заявке. 10/02 Elvis for Belgium to Moscow? Promotional campaign for the Belgium Eurovision representative has started today with teasers, sent out to the press by the person named "Elvis" and stating that "Rock'n'Roll legend will reprsent Belgium at the Eurovision 2009", uploaded to Youtube by "Leopold The Cat", character for the Russian cartoon.

It is known, that Belgian act for the contest has been chosen a while ago, in autumn, though it's presentation will take place only in early March.

Fans suggestions for the candidate now includes Belgian Elvis impersonator Elvis Jr. aka Franz Goovaertz, real Belgian rock-n-roll legend Arno Hintjens, Erik Goosens, singer of Leopold III band, who have tried out for Eurovision 1993 and Alec Mansion, singer for Leopold Nord & Vous, author of Belgian 1987 entry. It should also be remembered that RTBF broadcaster represents Wallonia, French speaking part of Belgium.

Известно, что исполнитель, который представит Бельгию на конкурсе, был выбран уже достаточно давно, еще осенью, но его презентация пройдет только в начале марта.

Фанаты уже сделали несколько предложений по поводу того, кто может скрываться за этим: это известный бельгийский двойник Элвиса Элвис младший или Франц Гуверц, настоящая бельгийская легенда рок-н-ролла Арно Хинтьенс, Эрик Гусенс, солист группы Leopold III, которая пробовалась еще на Евровидение 1993 и Алек Мансион, певец Leopold Nord & Vous, автор Бельгийской песни на Евровидении 1987. 10/02 Recording company BMG and MTV Hungary have spread press-release, stating that Katya Tompos has decided to withdraw her entry, because of the heavy schedule of the actress.

"I realized that the preparation for the Eurovision Song Contest requires more energy and time than I could devote to it. Therefore I decided to withdraw from performing at the Song Contest and rather dedicate myself wholly to theatre"

MTV is facing an unexpected situation as it presumed that those candidates submitting an entry have automatically made the intention to participate in the Song Contest and automatically accepted the strict rules of the EBU which were clearly included in the call for applications. MTV regrets the decision of the performer, but has stated that there are more "worthy" songs in the 105 received by the national broadcaster.

Now, the professional jury of MTV will meet again within few days to nominate new entry from the received submissions. This time broadcaster plans not to make immediate announcement, but to contact first selected artist, throughoutly to check whether the song is meeting all criterias and get confirmation that artist is ready to accept plan for the contest preparation.

"Я поняла, что участие в Евровидении требует большей энергии и времени, чем я могу посвятить ему. Поэтому, я приняла решение снять свою заявку с конкурса и посвятить себя полностью театру".

MTV попало в неожиданную ситуацию, поскольку организаторы отбора считали, что все заявленные кандидаты автоматически имеют желание принять участие в конкурсе и приняли жесткие правила, касающиеся конкурсных песен, установленные ЕВС и включенные в правила венгерского отбора. MTV сожалеет о решении, принятом исполнителем, но заявило, что среди 105 принятых заявок есть и еще песни "подходящие для конкурса".

В течении нескольких дней MTV вновь соберет жюри для оценки всех песен и номинирования нового конкурсанта. На этот раз телеканал планирует не давать немедленного объявления, но прежде всего связаться с артистом, проверить его песню на соответствие правилам, и получить его согласие на программу подготовки к конкурсу, разработанную телеканалом.

Participation of Tehran-born Swedish singer with Azerbaijani roots (his grand grand father is indeed from Azerbaijan) has already taken Swedish press. In all interviews, singer and songauthors are confident that song "Always", written by Alex "Arash" Labaf, Robert Uhlmann, Johan Bejerholm, Anderz & Elin Wrethov will be performed in a duet.

"I always wanted to become Eurovision participant and now the timing was good. In this way, I have also the chance to go to the finals", said Arash to Sydsvenskan. "In Azerbaijan they have a little different preselection. I sent my song to the contest and won. I wrote this song very recently, I have worked really hard with it and now, I'm going on my holidays in Dubai".

Arash is very positive speaking about AySel: "She came to greet me in Malmo and we sang together for the first time. She is very clever". However, he has a mixed feeling for Sweden, country, where he grew up: "Of course, I will also support Swedish artist. I would really like them to come second. At the same time, I am a competitive person and I want to win the whole thing!"

Elin Wrethov, one of the songwriters for Always described the song to HD: "It is a up tempo, oriental song with the love theme. Very Persian instruments and very rhythmical. It is meant to be a duet, so both Aysel and Arash will sing".

Robert Uhlmann was co-writer of Hanna Heglund entry in MF 2000, Johan Bejerholm was co-writer of Jonas Bergstrom entry in MF 2004, Anderz Wrethov is writer of Gunther's entry in 2006 and Frida feat. Headline in 2008.

Local press already hints that staging of the entry will be done in a "Beauty and a Beast" vein, with choreographers and set designers with world famous names involved.

09/02 Delivering News First! Earlier announced press-conference was conducted today by France television, attended by Alain Vautier, director of France 3 and Patricia Kaas herself.

The French team has declared during the PC, that the task they put is "to fight for a victory in Moscow, no matter whether it will be good or not for the career".

"I am very proud to represent France. I defend French music for over 20 years throughout the world. Now I feel myself very good and confident, but we should remember it is not only Russia or the East who will vote", explained the singer.

Alain Vautier, Director of France 3 added "The fact that France is represented by an internationally recognized artist, will be an advantage. We want to revive a tradition of artists. Being represented by someone known internationally is important for France and also will help to reach the goal set"

Regarding singing on 20th anniversary of mother's death singer responded: "For the twenty years I never performed on this day, but this time I thought: it will bring me luck!".

The song "Et s'il fallait le faire" has been officially confirmed as Eurovision entry, however, it's final version will become available only in around one month time.

Singer also stated that she is going to perform the song simply singing in front of microphone "because that's how I feel this song represents the tradition and modernity".

Команда Франции заявила во время пресс-конференции, что перед ними поставлена задача "бороться в Москве за победу, как бы это не отразилось на дальнейшей карьере".

"Я очень горжусь тем, что представлю Францию. Я защищаю цвета французской музыки в мире уже более 20 лет. Сейчас я чувствую себя очень уверенно, но надо помнить и о том, что на Евровидении будут голосовать не только Россия и страны восточной Европы".

Ален Вотье, директор France 3, добавил: "Тот факт, что Францию представит исполнительница с международной известностью, конечно же, является нашим преимуществом. Мы хотим возродить традицию отправки на конкурс артистов с именем. Это очень важно для нас, что нас представит певица, известная за рубежом, и это должно помочь нам справиться с поставленной задачей".

На вопрос о том, как певица согласилась петь в день 20й годовщины смерти своей матери Патрисия ответила: "Да, действительно, я не пела в этот день последние двадцать лет. Но сейчас я подумала: это принесет мне удачу!"

Песня "Et s'il fallait le faire" была официально подтверждена, как принимающая участие в конкурсе. Однако, ее окончательная версия появится только, ориентировочно, через месяц.

Певица также заявила, что хотела бы исполнить свою песню просто стоя перед микрофоном, поскольку "именно так я ее чувствую и в этом будут соединены классика и современность"

Alex C. feat. Oscar Loya (Alex Swings, Oscar Sings) will represent Germany in Moscow with the song "Miss Kiss Kiss Bang".

Oscar is an example of the classic American Dream. The youngest of five children, Oscar was raised in a single parent household on the wrong side of town. His mother often struggled to make ends meet and make sure her children didn’t fall victim to the product of growing up in a Southern California barrio. Oscar used his passion for the arts as his key to escaping such meager beginnings. After successful career as a talented fashion designer, and, hair/makeup artist he finally found his niche by heeding the advice of those around him and making the switch from background to foreground. Determined not to let a lack of formal training hold him back, at the age of 24 he left everything behind and moved to New York city to finally realize his dream of performing.

Being new on the scene was not an issue for Oscar. Only a month after having lived in the big apple he was stopped by a famous Broadway producer/choreographer on the street and was asked three questions, “Can you sing? Can you act? Can you dance”? The answer was a resounding “HELL YES”! Thus begins a whirlwind career across the world, alongside Broadway veterans and accompanied by world class orchestras. Oscar honed his singing, dancing, and acting skills on internationally renowned stages in cities including, Bologna, Rotterdam, Vienna, Bern, Ferara, Berlin, Frankfurt, Cologne, Seoul, Beijing, Taiwan, Singapore, Honk Kong, and Munich. Having had such intense performing experience to draw from he is once again making a transition from musical star to recording artist and further discovering his destiny. Writing, singing and producing, he is thrilled to be working on his solo album debut in Germany. A fusion of Latin, Pop, and Funk Oscar is busy creating and rediscovering music alongside his band of talented and experienced musicians.

Alex Christensen is music producer and DJ. He is the person behind techno music project U96 and since 2002 is releasing his works as Alex C. As producer or composer Christensen works with Right Said Fred, Tom Jones, N'Sync, Oli.P, Marianne Rosenberg, Sarah Brightman, ATC, Rollergirl, and many more. Furthermore, he also published remixes for Jean Michel Jarre and other electronic music artists. His last major projects were the productions of Paul Anka's comeback album "Rock Swings", and in May 2006 album "Bolton Swings Sinatra" by Michael Bolton. In November 2007 he landed with "You've got the nicest ass in the world" to number 1 in the German charts. The song was published in several languages including English, French and Spanish. In 2008 he has produced debut album 'Blessed' by Fady Maalouf.

Swing song will be presented on Saturday, 21 February, during the Echo Awards in Berlin. The event is from 20:15 clock live on ARD. Song video will be filmed next week in Cuba.

The jury has included Canibol Heinz, Managing Partner of the label 105music, Guildo Horn, pop singer and former Grand Prix candidate, Sylvia Kollek, Music consultant and former member of the jury in "Deutschland sucht den Superstar", Ralf Quibeldey, head of the editorial and entertainment at NDR, Peter Urban, musician and radio presenter.

09/02 Delivering News First! Yesterday, internal semifinal with 31 artist took place in Ukraine. ESCKaz was one of the few media allowed to attend it and we present extensive photo and video gallery from it - on Ukrainian page. More photos and videos will be added throughout the day.

The results of the semifinal will be announced, approximately, on Wednesday. The broadcast of extracts of it will take place, again approximately, sometimes next week.

Unfortunately, even during the semifinal several of the performers, including Anastasia Prihodko, Andriana, Nazar Savko, Zoryana, Nazad Shlyahu Nemae, Lenara and possibly others, are performing ineligible entries, publicly performed before October 1, 2008. This stands against both national preselection and Eurovision rules. 2005 Ukrainian preselection is still remembered around Europe as the one including more than 30% of ineligible entries. Unfortunately, Ukrainian broadcaster seems to haven't drawn any conclusions from that and is not learning on it's previous mistakes.

Вчера в студии НТУ состоялся внутренний полуфинал украинского отбора в котором приняли участие 31 исполнитель. ESCKaz - одно из немногих СМИ, которые освещают данное событие и мы предлагаем вашему вниманию расширенную его фото и видеогаллерею - страница Украины. К сожалению, на полуфинале вновь отмечено массовое нарушение правил, ряд исполнителей, в том числе Анастасия Приходько, Андриана, Назар Савко, Зоряна, Nazad шляху немає, Ленара и возможно другие, исполняют нелегитимные песни, исполнявшиеся до 1го октября 2008 года. Это противоречит как правилам национального отбора, так и правилам Евровидения. В 2005 году украинский отбор запомнился Европе, как единственный, в котором более 30% участвующих песен не соответствовали конкурсным правилам.

05/02 Delivering News First! One of the favourites, band "Vopli Vidoplyasova" have withdrawn from the Ukrainian ational preselection for Eurovision Song Contest. Reasons of such a decision are lack of financial resources, required for preparation for Eurovision, and packed tour schedule of lead singer of the band Oleg Skrypka.

There will be more changes in the line-up for the semifinal. It has already been confirmed that reserve performers Ira Poison and Tabu band will be called up. ESCKaz will be present during the internal semifinal in NTU studios and we will report you the latest news from it.

Одни из фаворитов, группа "Вопли Видоплясова", снялись с национального украинского отбора на Евровидение, сообщает "Вечерний Киев". Причины этого решения - нехватка финансов, необходимых для подготовки к конкурсу, и плотный график солиста группы Олега Скрипки.

В списке участников произойдет и еще несколько изменений, в их число уже вошли резервные исполнители Ира Пойзон и группа Табу. ESCKaz будет присутствовать на полуфинале отбора в воскресенье и мы сообщим вам самую свежую информацию с него.

05/02 Delivering News First! To a sensational finish came the Azerbaijani national song selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2009. The race for the best song to represent Azerbaijan in Moscow in May 2009 was won by Always written by Arash, a well-known composer and songwriter and a popular European artist, the author of such hits as Pure Love, Donya and Boro Boro.

“I was completely confident in my song!” Arash said today in a telephone interview, “I found out about Azerbaijan’s competition for the best song to represent them at Eurovision by chance, surfing the Internet. In one night, I finished the song I had worked on for quite some time – with just one thing missing from it: the understanding who this song could be for. When I saw AySel’s pictures, I realized – this song is for her! So Always was written specially for AySel. Why did I take part in the contest? I’m originally Azerbaijani, and I would like to have a part in this country’s confident ascent in the history of Eurovision. Frankly, I regret that I found out too late about Azerbaijan’s national selection of its Eurovision participant and missed the casting. Besides being a songwriter and a composer, I am also a performer, and I would be thrilled to be on the Eurovision stage in 2009, instead of being on the backstage.”

A total of 30 songs competed in the contest conducted by iTV, the Azerbaijani national television. The submissions came from both local and foreign songwriters and composers. The selection process proved to be very difficult, according to the jury, since many truly great songs entered into the competition. However, what concerns the winning song, the 7-member jury made of prominent figures of the Azerbaijani culture and show business including such names as iTV Director General Ismayil Omarov, Rector of Baku Musical Academy College Farhad Badalbayli, President of the Azerbaijan National Music Committee of the International Music Council Lala Kazimova, Director of the Azerbaijani public Philharmonic Hall Murad Adigozelzade, voted unanimously. The best song for Azerbaijan’s ESC representative AySel was written by Arash.

“Always – is what we were looking for! This is a 100-percent Eurovision hit song, which fits AySel perfectly. It is a romantic song, and we are sure it will become a European hit of this spring. We are very satisfied with the selection, and now the matter depends on staging a bright and spectacular show!” said Murad Adigozelzade, one of the jury members.

The 19-year-old AySel who will represent Azerbaijan in Eurovision 2009 has expressed her delight that the song selection is over, and she can begin preparing for her performance at full pace. “Frankly, I was surprised when I heard that Arash submitted his song to the selection,” AySel commented, “Of course, I have already heard the song, but I won’t comment on it for the time being. The thing is that it’s really important for me to understand how the song will sound in the final. So I am really looking forward to its recording and arrangement.”

iTV would like to express gratitude to all songwriters, composers and producers who took part in the Azerbaijani national song selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 and hopes for further cooperation with them in other projects of the channel.

Update: according to ESCKaz sources and not confirmed by representatives of Azerbaijani delegation, currently there are negotiation that the entry will be performed by Aysel and Arash in a duet. However, if the negotiations will fail, song will be performed solo. The song presentation is expected to take place in early March.

Сенсацией завершился национальный отбор песни на участие в "Евровидении 2009" в Азербайджане. Конкурс на лучшую композицию, которая представит Азербайджан в Москве в мае 2009 года, выиграла композиция “Always”, известного композитора и не менее популярного европейский исполнителя Arash, который является автором хитов Pure Love, Donya and Boro Boro.

"Я был абсолютно уверен в своей песне! – заявил сегодня в телефонном интервью Arash. - О проведении Азербайджаном конкурса на лучшую песню для участия в "Евровидении" узнал случайно из Интернета. Буквально за одну ночь я дописал песню, над которой работал давно, но мне не хватало одного – понимания для кого именно эта композиция. Увидев фотографии AySel, я понял – именно для нее! Так что “Always”, я написал как раз для AySel. Почему я принял участие в конкурсе? По происхождению я азербайджанец и мне бы хотелось поучаствовать в процессе того, как эта страна уверенно входит в историю песенного конкурса "Евровидение". Хотя мне жаль, что я поздно узнал о проведении нацотбора участника от Азербайджана на конкурсе и пропустил тот кастинг. Ведь я не только автор и композитор, но и исполнитель и мне бы очень хотелось быть на сцене "Евровидения 2009", а не за кулисами".

Всего на конкурс объявленный азербайджанским национальным телевидением, каналом iTV было отправлено 30 заявок, как от местных авторов и композиторов, так и от иностранных. Процесс выбора песни оказался крайне сложным, ведь, по словам представителей жюри на конкурс было прислано большое количество действительно достойных песен. Но касательно победившей песни решение жюри в количестве семи человек, в состав которого вошли представители азербайджанского шоу-бизнеса и культуры, такие как гендиректор iTV Исмаил Омаров, ректор БАМ Фархад Бадалбейли, президент Международного музыкального совета Лала Кязымова, директор Филармонии Мурад Адыгезалзаде и другие, было единогласным. Лучшую песню для представительницы Азербайджана на конкурсе AySel написал именно Arash.

“Always”, – это то, что мы искали! Это 100 % евровизионный хит и он на наш взгляд идеально подходит AySel. Это романтическая композиция, которая, мы уверены, станет европейским хитом этой весны. Мы довольны выбором песни, и теперь дело за постановкой яркого и качественного шоу!" - заявил представитель жюри Мурад Адыгезалзаде.

19-летняя исполнительница AySel, которая представит Азербайджан на "Евровидении 2009" рада, что отбор конкурсной песни уже завершен и теперь она может активно готовиться к выступлению. "Честно говоря, я была удивлена, когда мне сообщили, что свою песню на конкурс подал Arash, - рассказала AySel. – Конечно, я уже прослушала композицию, но пока воздержусь от каких-либо оценок. Просто для меня крайне важно понять, как именно песня будет звучать в финале. Так что я очень жду записи и финального сведения песни".

Канал iTV выражает благодарность всем авторам, композиторам и продюсерам за участие в национальном отборе конкурсной песни для конкурса "Евровидении 2009" и выражает надежду на дальнейшее сотрудничество с ними в других проектах канала.

Обновление: По информации ESCKaz, неподтвержденной представителями делегации Азербайджана, в настоящее время проходят переговоры об исполнении конкурсной композиции в дуэте между Арашем и Айсель. Однако, в случае их неуспешного окончания, данная песня в любом случае прозвучит на конкурсе, в сольном варианте. Презентация ее состоится, ориентировочно, в начале марта.

04/02 Delivering News First! Katya Tompos - with Maganyos csonak (Lonely boat) for Eurovision instead of Mark, just announced Hungarian MTV. The song has been recently featured as soundtrack to the Valami Amerika 2 movie. It has finished as runner-up in yesterday's jury voting.

Katya Tompos was born in Budapest on March 13, 1983 and is more known as theater and movie actress rather than a singer.

Update2: Mark Zentai management team has withdrawn his entry. According to the statement of the team, they were unaware about previous public performance of the song in Sweden.

03/02 Delivering News First! Mark Zentai will represent Hungary at Eurovision 2009. Today, Hungarian broadcaster MTV has conducted internal selection, with jury listening to 105 received entries (several of them have arrived from foreign countries, including UK and Germany). Mark Zentail has been selected to represrent the country at the contest. The song "How We Party" (Hungarian version - "Vigyen a szel" (Let the Wind Take Me)) has been composed by Swedish Figge Bostrom, who worked with such bands as Westlife, Ase of Base and Alcazar, and it has been included in Mark's last album. Other co-authors of the song apparently are: George Nemeth, Johan Lindman, Lasse Anderson and Szabo Ze. Official presentation of the song will take place during the ceremony of Fonogram Awards on 11th of February.

Andrea Szulak, member of jury and representative of Hungary at Eurovision 1993, has noted that Mark is dynamic, young performer which will be able to gather support of international audience. The main criteria of the preselection, according to director Zsolt Lengyel, was that selected song should correspond to current European music tastes and Eurovision trends. Zsolt will be also responsible for preparations of Hungarian entrant to Eurovision, including stage presentation. He is well-known professional in Hungary, and will also contribute to Fonogram ceremony as well. Other jury members were: Laszlo Szuts (representative of MAHASZ), Levente Harsanyi and Gabor Takacs (TV presenters).

01/02 Delivering News First! Patricia Kaas: song for Eurovision known? In her interview to "Nord eclair" questionned by journalist Patrice Demailly the singer has explained her decision to enter the competition: "I decided to participate. I went the other day on the Internet and saw that there was a hundreds of articles that talked about that. At first I did not want to go to this contest, because mostly it is for the debuting singers. But now I have decided: I will defend my country, anyway! abroad this competition is of incredible impact, though in France, we say that it is "kitsch". Even though in the East I'm very popular, people still remain patriots and may not vote for France".

Asked on the song she will be performing in Moscow, and whether the rumours that Francois Bernheim will be it's composer Patricia has decided to stop all the rumours saying: "The song is on the Kabaret CD. It is a very nice song - "Et s'il fallait le faire" (And if it had to be done)". As the song lasts 3.47, it will have to be shortened for Eurovision. Song is written by Anse Lazio and Fred Blondin.

Update: same information has been provided by Patricia in another interview, so song is now confirmed.

Official presentation of French Eurovision entry will took place on 9th of February.

В интервью "Nord eclair" отвечая на вопросы журналиста Патриса Демаййи, певица так объяснила свое решение принять участие в конкурсе: "Я решила принять участие. Однажды, я пошла в интернет и увидила сотни статей, которые говорили об этом. Сначала я не хотела выступать на этом конкурсе, потому что он в основном для дебютантов. Но сейчас я решила: я буду защищать свою страну! Зарубежом этот конкурс имеет огромную важность, хотя во Франции, мы считаем его кичем. Даже несмотря на то, что в восточной Европе я очень популярна, люди там остаются патриотами и могут не проголосовать за Францию".

Отвечая на вопрос о песне, которую Патрисия будет исполнять в Москве, и соответствуют ли действительности слухи, что Франсуа Бернхейм станет ее автором, Патрисия их отмела, заявив: "Песня вышла на диске Kabaret. Очень хорошая песня - "Et s'il fallait le faire". Поскольку песня длится 3.47, для Евровидения ее придется сократить. Авторы песни: Ансе Лацио и Фред Блонден.

31/01 Delivering News First! The first press-conference of the Montenegrin representative in Eurovision 2009 Andrea Demirovic and her team was held yesterday in the building of a RTCG. The exclusive information, published by ESCKaz earlier has now been confirmed: "Just Get Out Of My Life" was composed by the famous German composer Ralf Siegel, while the authors of the lyrics are Bernd Meinunger and Jose Juan Santana Rodriguez. Song has been recorded in Siegel's Olimpia studio in Munich.

Also at the press-conference have been revealed additional details on the plan of preparations of Andrea for Eurovision, and complete list of 22 entries, submitted to RTCG for the preselection. This information is available on Montenegro page

Эксклюзивная информация, ранее опубликованная ESCKaz нашла свое подтверждение: авторами песни "Just Get Out Of My Life" являются известный немецкий композитор Ральф Зигель, авторы текста Бернд Мейнунгер и Хосе Хуан Сантана Родригез. 31/01 Delivering News First! Several new names in line to represent Russia at the Eurovision. Despite Channel One, as usual, has declared accepting more than 1000 entries for it's preselection, we can count only on dozen of acts, that publicly declared their interest. Among them are:

Zhenya Rasskazova, finalist of the national preselection 2008 has again entered this year, with a song "Neskolko slov" (S.Chepurnov / K.Arseniev)

Project of Sonar Media company, singer ROMEO has presented song Another Day (A.Sokov, M.Dar). ROMEO - is solo project of Roman Beresnev, member of the band "Drugiye pravila".

Singer Elena Tayusheva has entered song Manful Child, which you can listen to, as well as get additional information on the singer - here.

Three entries have been published yesterday on Channel One's website, it is unclear on what criteria these three names have been selected for publication: song by Sergey Agayan, Olga Fomicheva and Oksana Feldsherova.

Online-community is collecting signatures to support Eurovision candidacy of online trash phenomenon Nikolay Voronov. Nothing is currently known about reaction of the performer himself on it.

Channel One again has not mentioned any deadline to submit entries.

Три заявки вчера были опубликованы на сайте Первого Канала, пока не понятно, по каким критериям для публикации были выбраны именно эти исполнители: Сергей Агаян, Ольга Фомичева и Оксана Фельдшерова.

Онлайн сообщество собирает подписи в пользу участия в Евровидении онлайн трэш-феномена Николая Воронова. О реакции на это самого исполнителя пока не известно.

О сроках окончания приема заявок на конкурс пока ничего не сообщается.

30/01 Delivering News First! Gipsy.cz will represent Czech Republic at the Eurovision 2009, has revealed today Czech Television.

This year broadcaster has decided to nominate a performer directly and not to hold a national final. Based on the last two years selections, broadcaster has decided to give this opportunity for the band Gipsy.cz. Here, you can watch their performance in 2008 NF. Now, CT will offer to the band two songs and audience will select the best of them. Voting will be run by SMS from approximately 1st to 14th of March. Winning entry will be presented during the broadcast of Pop Music Academy on 21st of March on CT1. National broadcaster has also confirmed that it will be broadcasting only the semifinal with Czech participation. Detailed information will be made available through a press-conference on 16th of February 2009.

Rapper Radoslav "Gipsy" Banga has created the band, which involved violinist Vojtech "Bela" Lavicka, Petr "Durman" Surmaj and Jan "Rotvajler" Surmaj. The band performs explosive mix of rap, Gipsy music, funk and ethno pop, which is spiced by humour and irony. Band has released two albums, Romano Hip Hop in 2006 and Reprezent in 2008. Band has been nominated by Pop Music Academy in 2006, Angel Awards in 2005 and 2006, winning the nomination for the best new artist in 2006.

В этом году телеканал принял решение о прямом номинировании участника и отмене национального финала. По итогам прошлых двух отборов телеканал решил дать такое право группе Gipsy.cz. Здесь, вы можете посмотреть ее выступление на отборе прошлого года. Теперь CT предложит группе две песни и зрители выберут лучшую из них. Голосование пройдет посредством СМС ориентировочно с 1го по 14 марта 2009. Победившая песня будет презентована во время показа Pop Music Academy 21го марта на CT1. Национальный вещатель также подвердил, что покажет только тот полуфинал, в котором примет участие Чехия. Дополнительная информация станет известна на пресс-конференции 16го февраля 2009 года.

Рэппер Радослав "Gipsy" Банга создал группу, пригласив в нее скрипача Войтеха "Bela" Лавичка, Петра "Durman" Сурмай и Яна "Rotvajler" Сурмай. Группа исполняет взрывоопасную смесь рэпа, цыганско музыки, фанка и этно попа, в которую добавлена определенная доля юмора и иронии. Группа выпустила два альбома, Romano Hip Hop в 2006 году и Reprezent в 2008 году. Группа была номинирована в Pop Music Academy в 2006 году, на премии Angel 2005 и 2006 года, завоевав приз как лучший новый артист 2006 года.

At the press-conference, which followed after the drawing ceremony, some extra information has been announced.
- The symbol of the contest will be firebird, the sub-logo, designed by The Red Square company, has been revealed. Firebird traditionally is part of Russian fairy tales. There will be no motto this year.
- Tickets are expected to go on sale from around 20th of February. There won't be packages. Tickets prices are expected to vary from 800 roubles to 20 000 (17 to 425 euros) for the semifinal and from 1000 to 30 000 roubles (VIP) (21 to 653 Euros - VIP) for the final. There will be 10 сategories of tickets prices for all events. Average ticket price for semifinal will be 95 Euros, rehearsals of the final will be priced 25 Euros, semifinal rehearsals 10-15 Euros.
- The visa procedure will be simplified for those who has purchased tickets or received accreditation. Invitation letters will be provided to them. At the end of February all Russian embassies will receive instructions and from March 1st the procedure will be in order.
- 25 hotels will be booked for accredited guests of Eurovision, from 3 to 5 stars. "Intourist" company will be dealing with fans accomodation. All accomodation prices have been approved by EBU.
- Channel One plans to repeat "Legends of Eurovision" concert that took place in Belgrade for the first time. They plan to invite Dana International, Helena Paparizou, Ruslana and other former Eurovision winners.
- The task of Channel One is to surprise the viewers, to do something that never took place in Eurovision before. Fantastic international team has been gathered to implement that.

Meanwhile, Channel One has launched a new website, devoted to Eurovision 2009 in Moscow available here.

There, you can cast your vote on the candidates for the role of the host of ESC 2009, whose name will be publicly revealed in March. Listed candidates are: Yana Churikova (many times ESC spokesperson), Andrei Malakhov (Yana's co-host of ESC 2005 NF), Philip Kirkorov (Eurovision participant), Ksenia Sobchak, "a team", "someone unexpected", "national pride" or a "new face". However, at the press-conference, it has been confirmed that Philip Kirkorov will not be the host of Eurovision, and contest will be hosted by male and female couple of presenters.

A flash game is also available, where you can "create" face of Russian representative at Eurovision 2009.

On the site, you can still submit entries to take part in the national Russian preselection for the contest, as well as listen to the several submissions. The quotation of head of music broadcast of Channel One hints that young artist will be preferred from Russia this year: "Young artists are more free, ready to prove that they are better than others. Because this is a contest, competition. Big stars think that they will lose credibility if they will not take honourable place. And there is only one honourable place at the Eurovision - the first".
According to Mr.Aksyuta, already more than 1000 entries have been received, mostly from unknown singers and songwriters, and 35 of them from productional centers. National final will take place in early March with mix of jury and televote used to select the winner. Again, as main rival Channel One noted to be UK.

History section of the Channel One's site continues to surprise. According to it: Lys Assia, Corry Brokken, France Gall, Katie Boyle, Bobbysocks and Ase Klevland are males. Corry Brokken is also from Denmark, Nana Moscouri has represented in 1979 Belgium with "Hey Nana" and Micha Marah - Austria. Female, called Ronnie Hazedhurst was performing with an umbrella in 1977. According to the authors of the site Belgium won at Eurovision 1962, Ireland has won in 1984 with "Diggiloo" and in 1968 winner was Cliff Richard with song "La La La" in Spanish. And this is not the full list of mistakes on the official Russian site of the contest.

- 25 отелей забронированы для аккредитованных гостей Евровидения, от 3х до 5 звездочных. Компания "Интурист" будет работать над размещением фанатов конкурса. Все цены на проживание были согласованы с ЕВС.
- Первый Канал планирует повторить концерт "Легенды Евровидения", который в прошлом году проходил в Белграде. Ожидается приглашение на него Даны Интернейшнл, Елены Папаризу и Русланы.
- Задача Первого Канала - удивить зрителей, показать то, чего еще никогда не было на Евровидении. Для воплощения этой задачи собрана фантастическая международная команда.

Там вы можете проголосовать за кандидатуры ведущего шоу, чье имя будет официально объявлено в марте. Указанные кандидаты: Яна Чурикова (многократный "глашатай" России), Андрей Малахов (соведущий Яны на национальном отборе 2005), Филипп Киркоров (участник Евровидения), Ксения Собчак, "коллектив", "неожиданный ход", "национальное достояние" или "новое лицо". Однако, на пресс-конференции было подтверждено, что Киркоров не будет ведущим Евровидения, конкурс проведет пара ведущих, мужчина и женщина, чьи имена пока не разглашаются.

На сайте также доступна "флэш-игра", где можно "создать" лицо участника, который, по вашему мнению, достоен представить Россию на Евровидении 2009.

На сайте вы все еще можете подать заявки на участие в Российском отборе на конкурса, а также прослушать ряд принятых заявок. Приводится цитата директора музыкального вещания Первого канала Юрия Аксюты: "Молодые артисты раскрепощены, свободны, готовы доказать, что они лучше других. Потому что это конкурс, соревнование. А большим звездам кажется, что они потеряют свой авторитет, если не займут почетного места. А почетное место на "Евровидении" только одно - первое". Г-н Аксюта сообщил, что уже получено более 1000 заявок, в основном от неизвестных исполнителей и авторов, и 35 из них от продюсерских центров. Национальный финал будет проведен в начале марта, победитель будет определен смесью жюри и телеголосования. Вновь, Первый Канал отметил Великобританию в качестве основного соперника.

Раздел сайта Первого Канала "О Конкурсе" до сих пор продолжает удивлять. Согласно ему, Лиз Ассия, Корри Броккен, Франс Галл, Катя Бойл, Bobbysocks и Осе Клевланд - мужчины. Причем, Корри Броккен - датчанка, Нана Мускури представляла в 1979 году Бельгию с песней "Hey Nana", а Мича Мара - Австрию. Женщина по имени Ронни Хазедьхерст выступает в 1977 году с зонтиком. По мнению авторов сайта, Бельгия также победила на Евровидении 1962, в 1984 году победила Ирландия с песней "Diggilloo", а в 1968 году Клифф Ричард с песней "La La La" на испанском языке. Подобные ляпы на официальном российском сайте конкурса можно считать до бесконечности.

29/01 Semifinals allocation draw to take place on 30th of January, Friday at 13.00 CET at Mariott Royal Aurora Hotel in Moscow. It will be followed by press-conference of Channel One and EBU.

Update: The draw will be broadcasted live on Eurovision.tv, ESCKaz will be updating our draw page as it happens as well. The pots have now been confirmed by EBU and can be found below.

The 38 countries represented in the Semi-Finals will be drawn from six pots, based on geographic location and mathematical voting patterns since 2004.

Four pots contain the names of six countries, two pots contain envelopes with the names of seven countries. Out of each pot, three countries will be taking part in the first Semi-Final, and three in the second.

France, Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom and host country Russia are automatically qualified for the Final. So, there will also be a draw to decide which of the two Semi-Finals broadcasters from these countries will be obliged to air, and in which the audience in these countries can vote. Two of the 'Big Four' (France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom) will be obligated to broadcast the first Semi-Final, the other two to broadcast the second Semi-Final. Finally, it will be decided in which Semi-Final Russia will vote. Participating broadcasters are free to determine, whether they will be broadcasting the other semifinal, without participation in it.

A second draw, to decide upon the starting order of the songs in each Semi-Final and the Final, will be conducted - as usual - at the Heads of Delegation meeting on 16-17 March in Moscow.

30го января, в пятницу, в 15.00 Москвы в отеле Mariott Royal Aurora в Москве пройдет жеребьевка распределения мест в полуфиналах конкурса. За ней последует пресс-конференция Первого Канала и Европейского Вещательного Союза.

Обновление: Жеребьевка будет транслироваться в прямом эфире на Eurovision.tv. ESCKaz также будет обновлять нашу страницу жеребьевки по мере поступления данных. ЕВС подтвердило состав корзин, с которыми вы можете познакомиться ниже.

38 стран, которые примут участие в полуфиналах, были разделены на 6 корзин, основываясь на их географическом месторасположении и математическом анализе тенденций голосования на Евровидении начиная с 2004 года.

4 корзины состоят из 6 стран, два корзины состоят из 7 стран. Из каждой корзины по три страны выступят в первом полуфинале и три - во втором.

Франция, Германия, Испания, Великобритания и Россия - автоматически примут участие в финале конкурса. Но будет проведена жеребьевка, с целью определить, какой из двух полуфиналов они будут обязаны показывать (и соответственно голосовать в нем). Две страны из "большой четверки" покажут 1й полуфинал и две - второй. Далее, определится, какой полуфинал покажет Россия. Участвующие телеканалы сами определят, будут ли они транслировать другой полуфинал без голосования в нем.

Вторая жеребьевка, которая определит непосредственно порядок выступления в полуфиналах, как обычно пройдет на встрече глав делегаций, 16-17 марта в Москве.

30/01 Through press-communique France 3 broadcaster confirmed today that Patricia Kaas will represent country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009. The first news about possible participation of French superstar in the contest were published first by ESCKaz in early January and now are officially confirmed.

Earlier this week, Patricia has appeared in the show "Vivement dimanche" to be broadcasted on February 15th, and while talking to the host of the show Michele Drucker, has stated: "I will represent France at Eurovision. I believe that this date will bring me luck, as it is very important to me... This is the anniversary of my mother's death".

Today, France 3 declared: "France Televisions and Patricia Kaas have combined their forces to represent France on the biggest stage of European music". Patricia Kaas has been chosen as one of the most popular singers and an ambassador of French culture "thanks to her personality, her unique voice and her repertoire", says the statement, also noting that singer has sold 16 million albums in the world.

Song of Patricia will be presented on 9th of February in a special press-conference in Paris.

29/01 On Saturday, RTVE.es will be presenting real-time information from the castings that are taking place in Barcelona. Each candidate will have 15 minutes to present themselves to the jury. Members of the jury, meanwhile, have also been confirmed: former Eurovision commentator Jose Luis Uribarri, RNE "Asuntos Propios" host Toni Garrido, producer Mariola Orellana and musician and composer Mauro Canut. Winning 10 acts will be known on the same evening.

Two performers: Sin-Tanto from Flamenco category and Depresion Post-Partum from hip hop category have withdrawn from castings. Next artists in line were approached, but Coral and brothers Ivan and Ismael Figueras have rejected the offer, thus it will be Antonio Moreno Bermudez (Flamenco) and Jose Antonio Santiago Beltran (hip hop) who will take part.

28/01 Patricia Kaas: I will make decision after January 31st!
Today the singer for the first time has spoken about her Eurovision participation for "Le Mag" of Attention Musique Fraiche. In the extensive interview, devoted mostly to her ungoing series of concerts in Casino De Paris which will end on January 31st, singer said regarding her contest participation: "I was asked. I thought about it. On the one hand, it is a test for me. On the other hand, it is a flip of a nickel. France always was in a retreat in Eurovision, while it most important competition to the Eastern countries. On my side, I always had a divided opinion on this contest. I loved the contest first, then I less liked it, but I think that for the last two years it became better. Therefore, I will first pass the Casino de Paris series and then will make a decision regarding Eurovision".

Meanwhile, French publich has now concentrated on the question of who will be Eurovision commentators for the country? Today, TVMag rumours that it can be Laurent Riquier and Steevy Boulay.

28/01 Delivering News First! National broadcaster of Ukraine NTU has published the list of 31 performers that will take part in the internal quaterfinal of the preselection, scheduled for February 8th. NTU has removed from it's site all references to the songtitles, including ones given in previous press-releases, so only names of the artists are now available. It is not clear, whether artist whose songs have been marked as ineligible by ESCKaz have been given chance to change their entries.

Semifinalists have been chosen on Monday evening by the 7 person jury, including: Vasil Ilaschuk (president of NTU), Roman Nedzelskiy (first vice-president), Andriy Chernyuk (vice-president), Eugen Kalenskiy (vice-president), Sergiy Lapchenko (chief-editor of music and entertainment broadcast of the channel), Oleg Pylypchuk (director of music and entertainment broadcast of the channel). The tie occured for 30th place, thus it has been decided to allow 31 song in the semifinal.

Национальная телекомпания Украины НТУ опубликовала список из 31 исполнителя, который примет участие во внутреннем полуфинале отбора, назначенном на 8е февраля. НТУ удалило с сайта телекомпании все ссылки на названия песен, включая и те, что были даны в прошлых пресс-релизах, поэтому, на данный момент официально известны только имена артистов. Пока неясно, был ли тем артистам, чьи песни отмечены ESCKaz как нарушающие правила, дан шанс их заменить.

Полуфиналисты были выбраны на заседании жюри, которое состоялось в понедельник вечером. В состав жюри вошли: Василий Илащук (президент НТКУ), Роман Недзельский (первый вице-президент), Андрей Чернюк (вице-президент), Евгений Каленский (вице-президент), Сергей Лапченко (главный редактор ТО музыкальных и развлекательных программ), Олег Пилипчук (режиссер ТО музыкальных и развлекательных программ). 28/01 Delivering News First! BBC has announced list of the songs and some extra details about the final of the show Your Country Needs You to be held this Saturday.

Each act will sing three songs during the live show - one a new song they'll prepare just for the final, one a song that they performed earlier in the series and most importantly, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Diane Warren's brand new Eurovision song, "My Time".

The Twins: Sweet About Me (Gabriella Cilmi); The Promise (Girls Aloud), My Time

After all the performances, the lines will then be opened and viewers will be able to vote. Dima Bilan will perform as guest act. After the lines close, the results will be announced. The act with the highest audience vote will be pronounced the winner. In the unlikely event of a tie between the acts with highest number of votes, Andrew Lloyd Webber will select a winner.

28/01 Delivering News First! As ESCKaz has reported last week, Slovakian STV due to the high quantity (177) and quality of entries received has taken the decision to add two more semifinals to the scheme of national selection. Thus, there will be 5 semifinals of 10 songs each on February 15th, 20th, 22nd, 27th and March 1st. 2 songs will qualify from each semifinal due to televote and 3rd one due to jury vote. Thus, national final on March 8th will be made of 15 entries.

The list of 50 qualifiers has already been determined and will be announced in the nearest time. Meky Zbirka has been the jury chairman for the preliminary rounds, but Laco Lucenic will take his place in the televised round. According to the rules of preselection, jury president has decisive vote in case of ties. Among other members of 7-person jury will also be Marcel Palonder and Katarina Hasprova, former participants of Eurovision and Peter Marcin.

Due to the increased number of shows, Zuzana Fialova will not be able to take job of hostess of the show. Currently, STV is in search for her replacement.

Как ESCKaz и сообщил на прошлой недели, словацкая телекомпания STV из-за высокого количества (177) и качества полученных заявок приняла решение о добавлении еще двух полуфиналов в схему национального отбора. Таким образом, будут проведены 5 полуфиналов - 15, 20, 22, 27 февраля и 1го марта. 2 песни пройдет из каждого полуфинала в финал по результатам зрительского голосования и 3я - по результатам голосования жюри. Таким образом, в национальном финале 8го марта примут участие 15 песен.

Список 50 полуфиналистов уже определен и будет опубликован в ближайшее время. Меки Збирка был председателем жюри на предварительном этапе, но с началом телевизионного раунда это место займет Лацо Лученич. Согласно правилам отбора - председатель жюри имеет решающий голос при равенстве баллов у нескольких песен. Среди других членов жюри будут Марчел Палондер, Катарина Хаспрова, бывшие представители Словакии на Евровидении, и Питер Марчин.

Из-за увеличения количества шоу, Зузана Фиалова не сможет быть его ведущей. В настоящее время STV ищет новую кандидатуру на эту роль.

26/01 Delivering News First! Ralph Siegel and Bernd Meinunger are the writers of Montenegrin entry.

As ESCKaz has earlier pointed first, the name of composer "Peter Match" has been used in past by famous Eurovision songwriter for songs in English language. The song has been recorded in his Olympia studio in Munich. Today, Andrea Demirovic has partially confirmed the story, saying that she can't reveal the name, but songwriter of her entry is former Eurovision winning composer. Mr.Siegel was Eurovision winner in 1982, his entries finished 2nd in 1980 and 1981, 3rd in 1994 and 1999. All in all he had 18 entries in the contest, last time in 2006.

Lyricist's name is listed as "Gunter Johansen", which is pseudonym of lyricist Bernd Meinunger, a usual co-author of Ralph Siegel entries, who had 12 Eurovision entries in past.

Ральф Зигель становился победителем конкурса в 1982 году, его песни становились вторыми в 1980 и 1981 годах и третьими в 1994 и 1999. Всего в Евровидении принимало участие 18 его песен, последняя из них в 2006.

During last couple of days Petr has already appeared in leading TV and radio shows.

25/01 Change of Eurovision broadcaster for Netherlands for 2010-2012. TROS will take over from NOS as participant of Eurovision Song Contest, reports Telegraaf. Prior to 2006 TROS was organizer of the national preselections, but as broadcast role was with NOS, TROS has pulled from the organization of the show. NOS briefly cooperated with other broadcaster, VARA for the next selection. TROS again organizers this year preselection and will broadcast De Toppers reality soap starting from March 19th. TROS is also representing The Netherlands in Eurovision Dance Contest, where it has chosen singer Thomas Berge to be their representative this year. In Junior Eurovision country is represented by yet another broadcaster, AVRO.

До 2006 года TROS был организатором национального отбора, но, поскольку роль основного вещателя всегда была за NOS, TROS решил выйти из организации шоу. Espen Hana & Surferosa qualified to 2nd chance. Velvet and Thomas Brondbo have qualified to the final of national selection.

20.00 CET - Lithuania - Lietuvos Dainu Daina - third quaterfinal
Donatas Montvydas, Fuego, Ruta Lukoseviciute, Asta Pilypaite & Onsa, Aurelija Slavinskaite and Milanno & Karina Krysko have qualified to the semifinal.

21.10 CET - Iceland - Songvakeppni sjonvarpsins - third semifinal

Andrea Demirovic (born on 17th of June, 1985 in Titograd, Montenegro) is known to Eurovision fans as last year's she was runner up of the national Eurovision preselection. In 2005 she finished 5th in Evropesma, Serbia and Montenegro final. Andrea has released an album "Andrea" in 2006 (City Records) and recorded a cover of "The Queen of the Night" song from Mision Eurovision, Spanish selection 2007, which is due to be included in her 2nd album.

Author of this song, Jose Juan Santana, is also among songwriters of Andrea's Eurovision entry. Among other entries of Jose, OGAE Spain president, are Emmy's entry in Armenian NF 2007, Coral's Babylon in Eurovision: El Retorno, and Mar Capdevilla's entry in running currently in Andorra. Other co-songwriters are Peter Match and Gunvor Johansen. It is known, that pseudonim "Peter Match" has been used in past by Ralph Siegel for songs in English language, but whether they are indeed same persons in this case still awaits confirmation.

Andrea also took part in Suncane Skale festival in 2002 and currently she is a student in Cetinje Music Academy - Music Pedagogy department.
