music legend, 75-year old Engelbert Humperdinck will carry the hopes of the UK's
Eurovision entry in Baku, Azerbaijan, on May 26. Singer of Release Me, The Last Waltz and
Quando Quando Quando remains popular in a number of the countries competing - and voting -
in the song contest. Last year he toured Belgium, Romania, Russia, Israel and the
Netherlands. The BBC, which screens the contest, hinted at the tactical nature of the choice. Derek McClean, the Corporation’s creative director of entertainment, said: “Engelbert has an incredible musical history and heritage, especially in the UK and Europe.” His achievements include four Grammy nominations, a Golden Globe for entertainer of the year, 63 gold and 24 platinum records, plus a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Eurovision single, yet to be announced, has impressively cool credentials: Engelbert will be representing the UK with a track produced by Grammy award-winning Martin Terefe (Mary J Blige, James Morrison) and co-written by Martin and Ivor Novello winner Sacha Skarbek (Adele, Lana Del Ray, James Blunt). The track is being recorded in London, L.A and Nashville. Humperdinck, who turns 76 at the beginning of May is quoted in Telegraph: “It’s an absolute honour to be representing my country for this year's Eurovision Song Contest. When the BBC approached me, it just felt right for me to be a part of an institution like Eurovision. I’m excited and raring to go and want the nation to get behind me.” |

winner of Eurovision 2008 Dima Bilan has entered national
preselection in duet with Yulia Volkova (ex t.A.T.u) with the song "Back To Her
Future" (by Swedish songwriters). Possibly, the publication of the list of
semifinalists is delayed due to the expectation of this entry. The song has been recorded
in the end of last year. However, due to scheduling conflict Dima likely will not be
appearing at the internal semifinal of the competition. Among confirmed entrants of semifinal on 29th of February: Buranovskie Babushki, Timati & Aida Garifullina, Mark Tishman, Ed Shulzhevskiy, Elena Terleeva, 4post, Boris Khludnev, Jam, Shinshilli, Sara Oks, Elena Ekimova, Efrosiya, Riff Action Family, SR Project, Rene, Chinkong feat. for the first Semi-Final of the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest will go on sale tomorrow,
29th of February at 12:00 CET. On the 5th of March the tickets for the second Semi-Final
will go on sale, followed on the 12th of March by the Jury Final and on the 15th of March
by the Grand Final tickets. Tickets are being sold online by the official international
ticket partner of the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest, Ticketmaster. Semifinal
1. Official OGAE fan-network has been allocated 1000 ticket packages (3 live shows plus 2nd dress rehearsal for each) which will be sold for 280 Euro (discount of 460 Euros from regular price). |

продажу поступят билеты на Второй полуфинал
конкурса и его репетиции, 12го марта в продажу
поступят билеты на Финал Жюри (вторую
генеральную репетицию финала) и 15го марта,
наконец, на сам Финал конкурса. Билеты будут
продаваться онлайн при поддержка официального
партнера - компании Ticketmaster. Полуфинал
1. Цены на билеты будут варьироваться от 30 до 50 AZN (1 AZN примерно равен 1 Евро) на репетиции полуфинала, 90-150 AZN на Полуфиналы, 60-100 AZN на 2ю генеральную репетицию финала, 160-240 AZN на финал конкурса. Упрощенная процедура получения виз будет применяться к покупателям билетов из всех 43 участвующих стран. Для того, чтобы могла быть применена упрощенная процедура получения визы в Аэропорту г.Баку все билеты будут персонализированы именем, национальностью, датой и местом рождения, а также номером паспорта приобретателя. Максимально в одни руки можно приобрести не более 4х билетов. Можно будет выбрать только секцию расположения мест, но не заказать конкретные места в зале. Но вопрос как раз не заключается в том, чтобы заниматься некими еврофестами или даже конкурсом "Евровидение". Я попросил не без согласия и желания Александра Шакутина (руководитель ОАО "Амкодор"), чтобы он, министр культуры и руководитель Белтелерадиокомпании организовали достойно этот процесс в нашей стране и определили тех, кто достойно может представить нашу страну на этом конкурсе. Как меня информировали, не публично, в частном порядке, процесс шел, красиво все. Да, действительно, картинка была красивая на телевидении, организовано это было нормально. Насколько я информирован, Александр Шакутин помогал, и финансово в том числе, организовывать этот конкурс. Вы определили критерии (не я их определял), что зрители и жюри, как это и на "Евровидении" будет, определят лучшего. В результате что получилось? В результате все получилось наоборот. Вы создали патовую ситуацию, ситуацию, которая характеризует всех троих неприлично. Как меня информируют уже две группы, которые по моему поручению этим занимались, результаты финала конкурса оказались подтасованными. Не знаю, зачем и почему. Это мы разберемся, если не здесь, то в рамках уголовного дела. Прощения никому не будет. Поэтому я предлагаю вам не темнить. Результаты подтасовали, не знаю зачем. Подставили эту девчонку, талантливую певицу. Не знаю, как вы с ней будете разбираться сейчас. И обидели этих ребят, которые фактически оказались по вашим критериям победителями. Еще раз подчеркиваю: вопрос в справедливости. Сказали: будет так, почему сделали наоборот?", заявил президент. После финала национального отбора, поднялась серия протестных высказываний, заявляющих о том, что телеголосование и голосование жюри были подтасованы в пользу Алены Ланской, которая полагалась на поддержку на административном уровне во многих регионах страны. Группа Litesound приняла участие в серии телевизионных программ, высказав свою точку зрения на происходящее. После народного возмущения президент страны потребовал расследовать сложившеюся ситуацию. It is also expected that "big 3" names: Timati & Aida Garifullina, Buranovskiye Babushki and Sergey Savin would have no problems qualifying to this round. 30-35 participants will feature in this closed doors round, and the number will be cut to 25 for the live show final, set for March 7th. |

Still" (written by UK songwriters Jamie Cullum, Steve Robson and Wayne Hector). Litesound won jury vote in Belarus final with mostly 2nd places in individual jury votes, while Alyona Lanskaya has won the televoting, finishing 2nd in jury vote after obtaining mix of 5 highest and 6 lowest votes from individual jury members. Meanwhile, after the show winning singer claimed that she will be looking to replace her song, and described the desired tune as "powerful dance song in style of Eurovision entry by Ani Lorak, for which a great stage show can be set up". Several producers among whom also are Simon Buss and Philip Kirkorov are currently in Minsk being negotiated with. Final of Russian preselection has been moved back to March 7th. The list of participants of internal semifinal is expected next week. | Alyona Lanskaya was
born on September 7th in the city of Mogilyov. She graduated from the Belarusian-Russian
University. Singer has appeared first in front of wide audience taking part in the project
of ONT channel "Belarus-Song of the Year 2005". The next significant stage in
her creative development was victory in another ONT project "Silver Gramophone":
on the basis of audience voting Alyona's song "Tishe-Tishe" was chosen as best
during few weeks. In 2008, on the TV channel "LAD" under the "PROmotion
+" project was created the first music video of Alyona Lanskaya for the song
"Podaril mne rassvet" Incredible hard work and dedication of Alyona was demonstrated during participation in sports reality show "The Magnificent Seven" (TV channel "LAD"). The fifth episode was devoted to biathlon. The actress, who during his first training was hesitant to ski, just in a week has mastered the sport and won in the finals. Workday of Alyona sometimes is scheduled by the minute: it's both working with the authors of her repertoire (she has already more than 20 songs, written especially for her by leading lyricists and composers of Belarus), lessons with a vocal coach, rehearsals with a choreographer. In May 2008, the singer had brought from the Bulgarian town of Dobrich diploma of I degree of the European Song Contest "Sarandev" (the songs "Imena" and «Don't Lie»). Exactly one year later - in May of 2009 - Alyona Lanskaya won the first prize of the International competition "Cup of Europe 2009" (Russia). In March of the same year the singer won the radioprize "Golden Ear" for the song «Supersensual love». In June 2009 on TV screens has appeared a second music video for Alyona Lanskaya's song «Everybody Get Up». Alyona took an active part in the creation and editing of this video herself. By the way, the song «Everybody Get Up» for the 10 weeks stayed in the charts of radio "Unistar". On March 8, 2010, was released her first solo album "Labirinty sudby" (West records-plus"), which included songs in Russian, Belarusian and English. In April 2010, the singer won the competition for young musicians "Maladyya Talenti Belarus" in the "pop vocal" category (held the First National Channel of Belarusian Radio from November 2009 to April 2010). In May, Alyona Lanskaya brought from the U.S. victory in the International contest of young pop singers «Atlantic Breeze-2010". That same month, on TV has appeared a third music video of the singer for the song «Life is Ok!». In September, Alyona Lanskaya won the diploma of I degree at competition of young singers at the V International Festival "Youth - for the Union State" (Russia) and became the winner of the International Festival of Arts "Spivogray" (Ukraine). In July 2011, was awarded the Grand Prix at the XX International Song Contest "Vitebsk-2011", and after it she became the youngest artist to be awarded the title "Honored Artist of Belarus." Alyona Lanskaya performed at Eurofest project "a powerful city ballad" (so called by a well-known Swedish sound-producer Vladi Vargas) «All My Life». A song was written by Belarusian composer Leonid Shirin, and author of the lyrics is his son - Alexey Shirin. However, it is possible, that she still will change the song for the Eurovision and may be managed for the contest by famous Philip Kirkorov. Litesound finished 2nd, Gunesh 3rd, Victoriya Aleshko 4th and Uzari 5th. |

when she was 4 years old and decided to engage in music at the age of 12. She studied in
US for a year and after returning to Iceland in 2008 stated working with the Icelandic
Symphony Orchestra. She had arranged and played violin on around 20 entries in Icelandic
Eurovision preselection, but this year she had submitted for the first time as songwriter
and performer. Jonsi (Jon Josep Snaebjornsson) (born 01.06.77) is an Icelandic singer and member of the band I Svortum Fotum. He represented Iceland in Eurovision 2004 finishing 19th. He has also competed at Songvakeppni Sjуnvarpsins 2007. |

He celebrated his 1st birthday during his family's migration to Norway but his family's Persian roots and traditions have given Tooji strong influences, both musically and personally. Tooji completed his children's welfare pedagogical studies and was working in the Norwegian children’s welfare system. He also was engaged in modelling and after that started working on MTV Norway where he presented "Super Saturday" and "Tooji's Top 10". their debut album, Sterpod on CLS Music in December 2009. In January 2010 band began
touring in Hungary and Romania, while their debut video for "I'm in Love"

nominated 2010 Fonogram Awards in the category "Best Performance in Electronic
Music" and Hungarian 2010 Otto Awards in the category "Best New Artist". In
November 2010, after four weeks of voting, the band won the popular award MTV brand. In
December 2010, the band started working on their second album, titled II, released in May
2011. In January 2011 Compact Disco was nominated in three categories ("Best

| President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev issued a decree on simplification of the procedures for issuing visas to the foreigners visiting the country in connection with the “Eurovision Song Contest-2012” to be held in Baku. Now citizen of participating countries who have either official invitation letter, accreditation or ticket for the show will be able to obtain visa for the period from May 10 - June 1 (for those having official invitation from April 15 - June 1) at the international aiport in Baku. of organization of Eurovision Song Contest 2012 has been announced - 50 mln manat (47.9
mln Euro) will be granted from state budget of the country for this purpose. This figure
does not include money to be granted for organization by EBU delivering from participation
fees, as well as brought by the sales of tickets and sponsorship contracts. With
construction of the hall total expenses on organization of the show may reach 90 mln Euro.
In 2006 Greek broadcaster ERT has announced getting a relative profit from organization of the contest, specifically from advertising revenues. The total cost of organization of the show was at modest 6 mln Euros. The next year cost of organization in Finland has doubled and reached 12 mln, while 4 of them have been drawn by Finnish government from it's budget for culture, 3.3 mln have been provided by EBU and ticket sales brought some 4 mln of Euros. Revenues from the sponsorship again led to the slightly positive balance, and it was the last time hosting broadcaster has succeeded in it. Extra show meant additional costs, and as since 2008 there have been two semifinals organized, cost of Serbian Eurovision reached 20 mln Euros. Broadcaster itself has provided half of these costs, having to borrow above 5 mln euros at commercial rates. The budget for Moscow Eurovision was quite unprecedented - originally planned for over 40 mln Euros, from which 4 mln were brought by EBU from participation fees, 23 mln granted from Russian state budget, 5 mln from local city budget and the rest brought by the broadcaster itself. At the end however, broadcaster announced lower total figure of 31 mln Euro, with 1/3 paid by broadcaster. In 2010 we were back to realistic figures and total costs were estimated as 25 mln, from which 16 mln were paid by broadcaster NRK. Total costs of Eurovision in Dusseldorf were around 30 mln of Euros, 12 mln from which were paid by the broadcaster ARD, city council had provided around 8 mln, and the remaining costs were covered by ticket sales, sponsorship and EBU fees. The most expensive Junior Eurovision in recent years was contest in Ukraine, where government has provided 1.2 mln Euro for it's organization, while total costs being 3.2 mln Euros. Organization of the 2011 contest in Yerevan was cheaper - government had to provide only 330 thousand Euro to cover deficit of budget. Total costs of organization were 1.4 mln Euros, though most of it were covered by ticket sales and sponsors. |

Бюджет Евровидения в Москве был беспрецедентным - первоначально запланированным на более чем 40 млн Евро, из которых 4 привнесли ЕВС, 23 млн выделил государственный бюджет, 5 млн городской бюджет, и остальные - затраты самой телекомпании. В конце концов, правда, вещатель объявил, что общие затраты составили 31 млн евро, из которых треть выплатил Первый Канал. В 2010 году мы вернулись к реальности, и общие затраты на проведение конкурса составили примерно 25 млн Евро, из которых 16 млн были оплачены телекомпанией NRK. Затраты на проведение конкурса в Дюссельдорфе были около 30 млн Евро, из которых 12 были выплачены телекомпанией ARD, городской совет выделил около 8 млн, а остальные затраты были покрыты продажей билетов, спонсорами и взносами в ЕВС. Самым дорогим Детским Евровидением за последние годы стал конкурс в Украине, где правительство выделило на его проведение 1.2 млн Евро, при том, что общие расходы составили 3.2 млн Евро. Организация конкурса 2011 в Ереване обошлась дешевле - правительство выделило лишь 330 тыс Евро, покрыв дефицитную часть бюджета.
