Omar and Suada 2nd rehearsal

Andy on Thu, 11/29/2012 - 08:54

I'm not really too keen on this red set. It doesn't look good on screens. Also Omar really is looking annoyed by the whole thing. If Azerbaijan is gonna win - it is thanks to a perfect amazing Suada, who is one of the most innocent kids to enter JESC stage. Interestingly, we can see for several times today the young talisman of the delegation Rufat, who is standing in the audience and uses his photocamera. I'm not sure this will be part of the final performance (whether he will occupy same spot during the show), but cameras are using this angle on every run and focuses on him making him extra participant of the Azerbaijani performance.

Femke from the Netherlands 1st rehearsal

Andy on Wed, 11/28/2012 - 16:40

Confident performance for Femke. I consider this as a big favourite to win this year´s contest (which may become the only time contest is won by the hosting country). Femke isn´t giving her 100% today yet, but the big potential is vivid in this performace. Probably the best stage show, though it isn´t that different from the national final version.

Fabian (Belgium) interview

Andy on Wed, 11/28/2012 - 14:53

We have also chatted to Fabian from Belgium

Head of delegation of Belgium, Inne Vandaele confirmed to us Belgium will definitely take part in JESC next year, and applications will start right after the end of this year´s show. Contrary to a popular rumour, though, Belgium has no intention to host JESC next year. Belgium is one of most loyal countries, hosting JESC once and taking part in all 10 editions of the show.

Anastasiya Petryk rehearsal 1

Andy on Wed, 11/28/2012 - 14:41

Nastya is alone on stage. That pretty much sums it up and is rather shoking. Especially considering she has backing dancers here in Amsterdam. Vocally perfect, but a solo act really looks empty.
Upd: Yes, as we were informed, basically 1 day before departure, it has been decided to change the stage act. Now Nastya will perform alone. Dancers still arrived to Amsterdam, just as guests.

Compass Band from Armenia 1st rehearsal

Andy on Wed, 11/28/2012 - 13:59

Performance looks pretty nice on screens, very nice back drops, excellent parts of guitar solo. I don´t really like the lead singer always shaking in the style of The Beatles, but may be it will help this song to be remembered even better. It isn´t really considered favourite on all accounts, but we know Armenia is always doing great in JESC televoting, so this shouldn´t be underestimated.

Igzidora from Albania 1st rehearsal

Andy on Wed, 11/28/2012 - 13:09

Impressions I have are similar to seeing Afghanistan in ABU TV Song Festival. Igzidora is doing her job just fine, but it looks so out of place in this contest with different dancers, stage props and so on. She is alone on stage and does some gestures, but it all feels a bit empty. I hope they can give her guitar or something. Vocally it is not bad, but again with help of recorded double vocal. Sadly, this isn´t going win this year. Igzidora is nice girl and actually a good singer, which can hardly be heard in this song. Hopefully she enjoys her time in Amsterdam.
