MIKA NEWTON AND NADINE BEILER MADE TRUE FRIENDS
5 May 2011, DUSSELDORF. The Ukrainian entry to Eurovision 2011 Mika Newton has already made friends with many participants of this year’s contest. But her closest friend in Dusseldorf became Nadine Beiler, who is representing Austria. Yesterday the two girls met in Euroclub to hang out and to chill after their hectic working days. Mika and Nadine shared with each other their first impressions of rehearsals and of the atmosphere at the Contest in general.
“We like talking to each other as we are both singers and almost of the same age. We both have experience on stage, interesting stories about show-biz, personal opinion about every song. It’s nice to realize that among many contestants there are people which I made friends with. When we meet inside the walls of Esprit Arena or at the parties, we enjoy it very much and share our opinions on what is going on. This is also some kind of countenance. In addition, Nadine is such an adorable lady!” - Mika says.
Nadine Beiler: “Mika and I indeed became true friends. We met for the first time in Austria. Our next meeting happened in Amsterdam during the Eurovision in Concert party. After that, Mika invited me to perform at her farewell party in Kyiv. I am so glad that we will see each other many more times here in Dusseldorf. And I think our friendship will last even after the Eurovision. I love Mika’s song. I am sure many Austrians will vote for her and she will make it to the final. In any case, I will be keeping fingers crossed for her. I am also impressed by Kseniya Simonova and her sand animation show. It’s a great idea, very new and unusual!”

Both singers will perform in the second semi-final but this doesn’t affect their friendship in any way. Nadine has already invited Mika Newton to join her in watching the first semi-final which will take place on May 10th.
Beside this, during the first rehearsal Mika and Nadine have already revealed their stage costumes. During her performance Nadine will be sparkling in a specially made little black dress with attached Swarowski crystals (4 mm to 2 cm). The Austrian singer will sing her ballad The Secret is Love on a japanned pedestal which reminds a polished crystal. The pedestal itself is decorated with 3mln Swarowski stones. The microphone of Nadine will be placed in a special case also decorated with the crystals of the famous Austrian brand.

Mika Newton’s dress is designed by the popular Ukrainian couturiere Olga Navrotska and was inspired by the latest fashion trends. It is made of the superfine ivory chiffon and absolutely keeps step with one of this season’s trends – new interpretation of neutral colors. The dress came out totally beautiful and different due to the expert use of decorative details and textures. The same tendencies we can observe in the latest collections from DKNY, Chloe and Nina Ricci. Olga Navrotska also took into consideration another fashion hit – glitz and pomp: Mika will wear a feather bolero above her dress. These feathers were ordered by Olga in New York in the company which makes wings for the fashion shows of Victoria’s Secret.

Sensational tandem of Mika Newton and Kseniya Simonova
shook the Esprit Arena with their stage act
Dusseldorf, 03 May 2011
Mika Newton, Eurovision entry from Ukraine, today had her first rehearsal in Esprit Arena. Her performance generated a strong feedback from the press and the organizers. “Very new to the Eurovision stage”, “something that has never been seen before at the contest” – these are the most common reviews of Mika’s stage act.
Mika Newton came up to the Eurovision stage not by herself - her strong vocal is accompanied by the sand animation performance. In a virtuoso manner the sand animation artist Kseniya Simonova adds power to the beautiful ballad of Mika by creating expressive images on sand.
During the press conference Mika Newton said that she enjoyed being on the big stage, she was satisfied with the quality of sound and work of the crew, proving that the Eurovision Song Contest is indeed an Olympus for any artist. “I was extremely impressed by attention to detail on all levels. Prior to our first rehearsal we were very concerned that the chemistry on stage would be tarnished because it is nearly impossible to reproduce the synergy between the soloist and the sand animation artist on TV. But today the video director showed a lot of understanding and appreciation of what we were trying to do in tandem. He himself knew how to highlight the key points of the performance”.
Kseniya Simonova, sand animation artist, commented on her contribution to the delivery of the main message of the song: “When I first listened to the song Angel I was moved and felt connected to it emotionally. I identify with the song’s message. Angels are between us, they help us when we need it the most. They can be our friends and family or complete strangers. We all are capable of performing miracles. You don’t have to be a wizard of Oz to change the world. Open your own heart to others and the world will turn to you with a totally different side”.
Originally the song Angel was written to accompany the spectacle “Angels among us”. The director of that show was Analoty Zalevsky, the most heralded Ukrainian equilibrist, member of the world-famous Cirque du Soleil. Anatoly traveled to Dusseldorf from New York to direct Mika’s act on the Eurovision stage.
YouTube sensation with more than 20 mln clicks, Kseniya Simonova became the winner of the widely popular TV show Ukraine’s Got Talent. Her popularity skyrocketed within the last year way beyond the Ukrainian borders with her shows being booked all over the world, to include the most prestigious stages. Nonetheless, she remains dedicated to Ukraine and her hometown of Yevpatoriya where she founded the Sand Club International Cultural Center. She also established founded a local charity organization “Live, My Sunshine!” to assist sick children and adults, pregnant women, young mothers and orphans.
