Outstanding performances, sensational talent, and smashing aces within the vocal arts - these are some of the main characteristics that define the pop group BONAPARTI.LV, a six-man pop-tenor ensemble. The group was formed specifically for the Latvian Eurovision preselection. And it proved to be a roaring success -- the majority of Latvian televoters sent their votes to these heartbreakers, these proverbial "Don Juans". Their path to success is paved by an international team consisting of composer Kjell JENNSTIG, authors of Italian text Torbjorn WASSENIUS and his charming wife Francesca WASSENIUS and the well known Swedish sound technician Bo REIMER, who has worked with artists such as IL DIVO, The BACKSTREET BOYS and Tom JONES, while the Latvian record company "MIC REC" and agency "L TIPS" are in charge of the management and production of the project. The team is ready to win their Waterloo - The Eurovision Song Contest, and hopes to be supported by the European community, because every Bonaparti wants to become a general! Latvia has sung in 9 languages in Eurovision context so far. We can add the sign language, too, used by Walters&Kazha in their song "The war is not over"". So, it makes 10 languages. Bonaparti.lv - the are adding Italian AND Spanish to the list! They have spent an afternoon in the studio to record "Esta Noche", the Spanish version of "Questa Notte", their Eurovision entry. Now we can add the fact to Eurovision history, that Latvia has sung in 12 languages! The idea of recording the song belongs to Bonaparti.lv producer Guntars Racs, who received the Spanish lyrics from Francisco J. Pascual, an architecture student and Eurovision fan from Spain. After the authors of Questa Notte had agreed to the Spanish version, Bonaparti.lv gathered to record it. The Spanish version will be used for promotional reasons. On the Eurovision stage Bonaparti.lv will sing in Italian.	На конкурсе Евровидение Латвия до сих пор пела на 9 языках (включая промо версии). К этому можно добавить и язык жестов, который использовали в своем выступлении Walters & Kazha. Таким образом мы получаем 10 языков. Но Bonaparti.lv добавляют в список еще два языка - итальянский и испанский! Группа записала "Esta Noche" - испанскую версию "Questa Notte", их конкурсной песни. Поэтому, мы можем записать в историю Евровидения, что Латвия исполняла песни на 12 языках! Идея записи принадлежит продюсеру группы Гунтарсу Рачсу, который получил испанский текст от Франциско Паскуаля, студента факультета архитектуры и фаната Евровидения из Испании. После того, как испанская версия была утверждена авторами Questa Notte, Bonaparti.lv собрались для ее записи. Испанская версия будет использоваться только в промоционных целях. На Евровидении группа выступит на итальянском.
Latvia is the most original and fresh country at Eurovision Song Contest, each year bringing new ideas and approaches to the contest. On Thursday, 12 April, the single "Questa Notte" of the Eurovision Song Contest Latvian national competition winners - tenor group "Bonaparti.lv" was released. On this day cooperation between the Latvian Television and the Narvesen shop network was officially confirmed for the Eurovision Song Contest project (ESC). Refreshment can be granted by good music offered by ESC as well as great coffee offered in the Narvesen shops - that is the conclusion for this spring: Latvian Television is pleased to establish friendship with a good and reliable cooperation partner for the project - shop network Narvesen; the new CD - "Bonaparti.lv" single will be available not just in the customary music sales points, but in all Narvesen shops as well. The CD single includes a completely new version of the song "Questa Notte" elaborated in cooperation among Latvian and Swedish producers. It is interesting to note that the strings were recorded by three musicians from the Goteborg symphony orchestra, but the instrument and voice parties recorded in Latvia and Sweden were mixed together by one of the world's best studio directors Bo Reimer who has worked for the now most famous tenor group "Il Divo" album and albums in collaboration with Backstreet Boys, Tom Jones, Westlife and many other well-known artists. The European radio stations will receive the new version on 12 April. The special launch presentation was hosted by LTV and representatives of the record company MicRec and management agency L-Tips were present. Bonaparti.lv entertained the audience with songs and dances. The first tune to be played was the anthem of Eurovision followed by Italian Volare (a song that finished 3rd in the 1958 Eurovision Song Contest) and Mamma Maria, Spanish Guantana mera, and Latvian Kapec man dziedat svesu dziesmu (Why to sing a strange song). Needless to mention that the musicians had their tools with them - Normunds had an accordeon, Andris A had his trumpet, Kaspars played trombone, Zigfrids took the violin, Andris E was responsible for the rhythm section, but Roberto was the ceremony master and main performer in Italian. After the presentation Bonaparti.lv talked to media representatives and signed the singles. 12 April will also become the start for the Latvian Television active publicity campaign for the ESC. Starting from this day, on channels LTV1 and LTV7, in programs "Labrit, Latvija!" and "Sems" all the 42 songs of all the participating countries will be shown. On 4, 5 and 6 May special Eurovision editions will be shown as they are distributed to all participants by the EBU, but on 7 May the spectators' favourite game show "Zini vai mini" will feature the group "Bonaparti.lv". In parallel, improvement of the stage performance will continue as well as the creation of the common image. By the way, the fashion house ARMANI Great Britain's branch has offered the group "Bonaparti.lv" to use their last collection's clothes. The offer is under evaluation. On 4 May the Latvian Television delegation will go to Helsinki and in the evening of the same day they will try out the large Eurovision stage in the first rehearsal and press conference! Интересно отметить, что струнные инструменты были записаны тремя музыкантами из Гетеборгского симфонического оркестра, но впоследствии записи инструменталов записанных в Швеции и Латвии были смикшированы одним из лучших студийных режиссеров мира Бо Реймером, который работал с известной группой "Il Dive", а также Backstreet Boys, Westlife, Томом Джонсом и другими известными артистами. Европейские радиостанции получат для ротации новую версию песни 12 апреля. На специальной презентации, проведенной Латвийским телевидением присутствовали также предствители лейбла MicRec и продюсерского агентства L-Tips. Бонапарты развлекли зрителей песнями и плясками. Первой сыгранной мелодией стал гимн Евровидения, за ним последовала известная Volare с Евровидения 1958 и Mamma Mia, испанская Guantana merta и латышская Kapec man dziedat svesu dziesmu (Зачем петь странную песню). Конечно, музыканты принесли с собой и свои музыкальные инструменты - Нормундс - аккордеон, Андрис А - трубу, Каспарс - тромбон, Зигфидс - скрипку, Андрис Е отвечал за ритм секцию, Роберто был ведущим церемонии и основным исполнителем на итальянском языке. После презентации Bonaparti.lv пообщались с медиа представителями и подписали синглы. Такэе этот день стал началом активной рекламной кампании Евровидению на Латвийском телевидении. Начиная с этого дня на телеканалах LTV1 и LTV7 в программах "Labrit, Latvija!" и "Sems" будут показаны превью видео всех 42х участвующих стран. 4, 5 и 6 мая будут показаны специальные программы о Евровидении, разработанные ЕВС, а 7го мая в телеигре "Zini vai mini" примет участие группа "Bonaparti.lv". Также продолжается работа над совершенствованием сценической постановки выступления группы. Кстати, британская ветвь известного дома моды Джорджио Армани предложила группе использовать их одежду на Евровидении. Это предложение пока рассматривается. 4го мая Латвийская делегации отправится в Хельсинки и вечером того же дня она испытает большую сцену Евровидения для первой репетиции и проведет первую пресс-конференцию!

On April 2, the Italian National Broadcaster Rai Uno will interview vocalist Roberto Meloni of Bonaparti.lv, which will air on the Italian TV programme "Festa Italiana" from 14:10 to 16:15 Italian time. Roberto Meloni is the only non-Latvian member Bonaparti.lv. The programme "Festa Italiana" will promote Meloni's stunning success after leaving Sardinia to teach Italian in Latvia. By participating in several musical projects (Factory of Talents, duo Elizabet e Roberto, West Side Story etc), he has become increasingly famous in Latvia, now having the opportunity to represent his new home country, Latvia, at Eurovision Song Contest 2007 in Helsinki as a member of Bonaparti.lv. During the initial stage of Bonaparti.lv history, Meloni had been hired by the group to improve their Italian pronounciation. Once the producer heard Meloni's voice, the group hired him at their sixth member. Also, "Questa notte" as a CD single is to be released and available in stores throughout Latvia as of April 12, 2007. Heavy metal legend Mats Leven (Yngwie Malmsteen, Abstract Algebra, At Vance, Therion) will be lead singer for Latvian national final entry "Legends of Rock'n'Roll". So far, this is the biggest name from heavy metal world ever entered Eurovision competition (Mats was already special guest last year in presentation of The Poodles entry in Swedish selection). The team had to replace lead singer/pianist Robert Wells and drummer Lasse Risberg with Mats (bass, vocal), other famous vocalist Thomas Vikstrom (Stormwind, Candlemass, Silent Memorial) (keyboards, vocal) and Niklas Rosstrom (drums). As in semifinal Finnish 05 entrant Geir Ronning will sing backing vocals and play guitar, while Jonny Salamander & Meldra will complete the team. Geir Ronning, Finnish representative 2005 and participant of multiply Finnish and Norwegian preselection is back in Eurovision again. As singer reports in his blog he is taking part in Latvian preselection for Eurovision Song Contest, in the song "Legends of Rock and Roll" written by Robert Wells performed by Johnny Salamander and Meldra. Geir will be playing guitar and perform backing vocals together with Robert, who will also play piano. Performer of the last entry of Latvian selection is now known. According to the rules of the competition at least one performer of the song should be citizen of Latvia, thus number of songs, performed in demoversions by foreigners will be performed by different Latvian singers at preselection. Song "Tomorrow" by Swedish author Kjell Jennstig, performed on demo by Sandra Oldenstam has taken big twist. At Latvian selection it will be performed under title "Questa Notte" in Italian by six opera tenors - band Bonoparti - Normund Yakushonok, Andris Abelite, Caspar Timanis, Zigfrid Muktupavels, Andris Erglis and Roberto Meloni (Italian living in Latvia for 5 years, who is also co-author of two more songs in Latvian national preselection) "It is better to perform in bad Italian (though ours is not that bad) than in bad English like everyone do", claims Guntars Racs, co-producer of all Latvian entries of past years, which now is taking care of Bonaparti project. On 19th of January Latvia will start shooting of performances which will be broadcasted during semifinal of the contest. Latvian broadcaster LTV has published list of 20 entries that will take part in national semifinals. You can listen to the samples at LTV page. In the mid January LTV will make a video version of each song. Videos of the songs will be broadcasted live in semi-finals of the contest on January 27th and February 3rd, 2007. Ten songs out of twenty will qualify for the National Final. These ten songs will be selected by televoting and a jury composed by Latvian TV. The winner of the National Final will be selected by televoting on February 24th, 2007 - during live broadcast. Жюри отбора включало в себя представителей оргкомитета, группы Космос, Wig Wam, Zdob Si Zdub, Andrius Mamontovas (LT United), представителя MTV Baltic и словенца Mario Galunic. В середине января ЛТВ снимет видео на все участвующие песни. Видео будут показаны во время полуфиналов конкурса, пройдут 27 января и 3го февраля. Latvian broadcaster LTV has received 106 entries for the national preselection. On the Monday morning number of submissions was around 50, but during they day it managed to double, thus setting new Eirodziesma record. Songs were submitted by Latvian, Estonian, Spanish, Finnish, Swedish, Maltese authors in Latvian, Russian, English languages and even without words. The names of semifinalists are expected to be revealed at press-conference on December 11th.	Латвийская телекомпания ЛТВ получила 106 заявок на участие в латвийском отборе. С утра понедельника было подано всего 50 заявок, но в течении дня их число смогло удвоиться, тем самым достигнув нового рекорда Eirodziesma. Песни были поданы латвийскими, эстонскими, испанскими, финскими, шведскими и мальтийскими авторами на латышском, русском, английском языках, а также без слов. Ожидается, что имена полуфиналистов будут объявлены на пресс-конференции 11го декабря.

Latvia has announced to follow same selection process as last year with semifinals of 10 songs each scheduled on 27th of January and 3rd of February and final on 24th of February with 100% televoting. Submission deadline is set for November 20. Participants will be announced on December 8th. Official rules of the preselection are published at LTV website.

Латвия будет использовать тот же метод национального отбора, что и в прошлом году с двумя полуфиналами из 10 песен каждый 27го января и 3го февраля и финалом 24го февраля со 100% голосованием. Срок подачи заявок ограничен 20м ноября. Отобранные участники будут объявлены 8го декабря. Официальные правила отбора опубликованы на сайте LTV.
