| Sasha
Son (Birth name Dmitry Shavrov - Dima Savrovas) has established himself as a young solo
artist and at the age of 12 had consequently released a solo album, "Svajoniu
Laivas" (The Ship of Dreams). His legendary song "Mamai" (To Mother) which
was written for Sasha by very respected Lithuanian musicians Ovidijus Vysniauskas and
Gintaras Zdebskis, made him known all around Lithuania and has become one of the most
significant and influential songs in Lithuanian music history. In 1995, Sasha has received
a "Bravo" award for "Metu atradimas" (New-comer of the year). He has
won numerous international competitions throughout Europe and received a letter of
gratitude from the President of the Republic of Lithuania for his achievements for the
country. After a period of 8 years in London where he had studied music Sasha has returned
home and together with his music partner Hywel Sam they have won Grand Prix at the
international music contest - "Palanga 2005". His first single in 12 years
"Ne Uletaj" Feat. SEL reached No. 1 in the Baltic Russian Radio Top 10 songs
list and remained in the Top 5 for 13 weeks and in the top 10 for 14 weeks. In 2008 he was
in the top 3 at the national Eurovision contest with the song "Miss Kiss". Son (Дмитрий Шавров - Дима Шавровас) в раннем
возрасте укрепился в Литве в качестве подающего
надежды исполнителя. В возрасте 12 лет вышел его

| - Hello, Sasha Son! Our congratulations to the fact that
you have been chosen as a representative of Lithuania at the Eurovision 2009! What do you
feel now, being selected the contestant of Eurovision? - Hello. Certainly I feel a great responsibility in front of my country, but I also feel very happy that finally my country has recognized myself not only as singer, but also as a musician and songwriter. - Was it difficult to win the Dainu Daina competition? Whom did you regard as your main competitors? - I think that the main competitor was Donatas Montvidas. He has shown himself in a very good way, and was one of the favorites for me. - How would you describe your song "Love" in one sentence? - I think the title of the song expresses its sense well enough: And those who think that the word "love" is banal, themselves do it such, because in reality, love is a thing which we want to achieve and is something without which we can not and for which we live! - Tell us the story of its creation? Was it written specially for the contest? - No: Once, my cousin of Artur, showed me a chord on the piano and I liked it, and then everything went like clockwork. Remaining chords, melody and words were born, and later friends advised me to take part in the Eurovision Song Contest with this song, to which I responded positively. - Has you finally decided what the language of the performance will be in the contest, and why? - Yes, but I will not say :) - We have heard the Lithuanian and English version. They are quite different in their meaning. Why it was decided not to make the poetic translation, but to create almost a new song? - Literal translation from one language to another is not so easy and, often and it is simply impossible, because the culture of languages is different, and eventually the alphabet itself, so I decided not to do it, and that wasn't really my task. For me, it was more important to write a text with meaning. - You promised to release the Russian version of the song. What it will be and when we can hear it? - It will be ready very soon :) - At Dainu Daina in each round, the song appeared in a different arrangement. Do you like to make such an experiments? - Certainly, without this, even your favorite thing would be boring! - Will the search for a sound go on, will we be able to hear new mixes of "Love"? Will there be any significant changes in the three-minutes version for the contest? - Yes, there will be. Unfortunately, there will be no separate part of guitar, because it takes a lot of time, and we needed to fit it in a 3 minutes, but I want to please you saying that it will play at the same time with my voice after the modulation (at the very end). - You are not the first time applying to the Eurovision contest. What do you think about this show, in general? - In Lithuania, Eurovision is the only song contest, in which performers can show themselves in front of a European audience, so I very much welcome this competition. It is also good for the country, where it takes place, but unfortunately, we are the only country in the Baltics, which have not yet hosted it. - What, in your opinion, in your attempt went better than in past years? Have you managed to find the right song, or something else? - It seems, I found myself at the right time, in the right place. Plus, I think the song "Pasiklydes zmogus" is very relevant to our times, as I sing openly about the problems that we often face, but nevertheless do not want to talk about them because we do not want to seem being weak. In this song, I urge people to love and to strive for its goal, at all costs. - What is your aim at the contest in Moscow? - I'm not going to say-WIN, because as the saying goes "do not say hop until you jump over it", but anyway, I still can believe and hope of it :) - You've already performed in Latvia and Ukraine. Generally, do you find a promo tour as an important aspect of preparations for the Eurovision? Do you plan to visit other countries before the competition? - Absolutely. I think that the PR of your song in other countries helps people to get acquainted with you and your song more closer, and consequently this can affect the vote. We also plan to visit Amsterdam, Dublin and Malta. - Do you have plans to shoot a promo video for the song? - Yes, but at the moment, it is still in progress. - Will your stage performance in Moscow be similar to what we could have seen in Lithuania? Or do you plan to make any changes for an international audience? - The changes will be there, but the social issue remains, as through my song, I want to support the whole Europe in this rather difficult time for us. - What do you consider to be more important for the success at Eurovision: song, artist, or show? - I think that everything is important, but first of all there should be a good song, and as shows the history of competition, the show is not the most important aspect, Serbian 2007 song is an excellent example! - Sometimes Eurovision is labelled as a political contest. Do you agree with this? - I think that now to some extent it is political. It is an open secret, that we all love to support our neighbors, but anyway, I hope that people will select the true winner, not based on the political vote. - Readdition of jury is a positive thing? - Very much so. Opinion of professionals is as important as professional opinion of the audience :) - Have you followe the selections of other countries, would you listen in advance to all competing entries? - I have already heard most of them. I think that for all participants it interesting to look at our competitors and evaluate them. - Let's talk briefly about your career. What do you think of as the main highlight of it? - My career has been lasting for 10 years, but I do not think that the peak of my career has come. I always strive for something bigger and better. Maybe after 20 years it would be easier to answer this question :) - Why did you choose such an unexpected stage name Sasha Son? - Stage name Sasha Son, we picked up with my team as there are already many Dimas in the music business, Dima Koldun, Bilan, Malikov, and we wanted something that was original. I think that Sasha Son - a beautiful name, but in addition I like to sleep :) (Son means dream in Russian) - Have you already participated in some other musical competitions? Do you like even compete in general? - As a child I took part in many competitions and became the winner of them, this gave me confidence in myself to strive to achieve something more, though by nature I am not a man who loves to compete. For me, the most important thing in life is to be able to do my favourite job and I thank God that He has given me this great opportunity! - And finally, if you want to add something to the readers of this interview, then you can do it now. - It is not what happens to us in life that determines our happiness, but the way we react to what happens. Была ли она написана специально для конкурса? - Нет: Мне как-то двоюродный брат Артур, показал один аккорд на пианино и мне он понравился, ну а потом всё пошло как по маслу. Родились остальные аккорды, мелодия и слова, а чуть позже друзья посоветовали с ней принять участие на Евровидении, на что я отреагировал позитивно. - Решено ли уже окончательно, на каком языке она будет исполняться на конкурсе, и почему? - Да, но я никому не скажу :) - Мы уже слышали литовскую и английскую версии песни. Они довольно сильно разняться по смыслу. Почему было решено не делать поэтический перевод, а создавать практически новую композицию? - Дословный перевод с одного языка на другой сделать не так то и легко, а чаще всего и просто невозможно, поскольку отличается культура языков, да и в конце концов сам алфавит, поэтому я этого делать не стал, да и не хотел. Для меня было главным написать текст со смыслом. - Вы обещали также выпустить русскую версию песни. Какой она будет и когда можно будет её услышать? - Уже очень скоро :) - На Dainu Daina в каждом туре песня представала в разном звучании. Вы любите эксперементировать? - Несомненно, без этого заниматься даже любимым делом было бы скучно! - Продолжится ли

trip to Amsterdam, in fact, was probably the best, of which I had. Not only because I
wanted to see this city, but because there was "little Eurovision", which was
attended by 22 countries, gathered about 2000 people, fans from all over Europe",
writes Sasha Son in his Delfi.lt blog. "During the concert the audience accepted me very well. Later we participated in afterparty, and communicated with journalists, the fans, all wanted to take pictures with me. Some of them had prints of my photos from "Dainu Daina" and were asking to sign them, which means that they like my song ... This is very pleasant. Of all the singers I liked first of all Jade Ewen from UK. She gets a lot of attention and it is difficult to get to her, one interview follows the other. But I managed to shake hands with her and began singinging her song. She was very surprised and pleased. Then we took photo together. I also very much enjoyed Moldovan singer Nelly Ciobanu, who clearly is very professional, although she performed at the concert with prerecorded backing track. Unfortunately, I was one of the few performers who sang live. It was not necessary, but I'm just such a singer, who has to live the song rather than to simply open my mouth. We also traveled to The Hague, and moved on open bus through the city. It was very pleasant, good weather, open air. I noticed that in the Netherlands Eurovision is taken more seriously than in some other countries. Many people were asking me which countries we already visited and when I say that we were in Ukraine, Latvia, Finland, they ask why so few. I had to explain that we don't get any support from government and thus we have very limited finances. People were very surprised. For example in Ireland or UK state pays for everything. This trip has brought me more self-confidence, and confidence for my song. I have received a lot of compliments. I also get confidence knowing that national broadcaster received very many e-mails for me. Producers say that this is the first year when we get so many e-mails. Every day I'm getting 30-50 e-mails, so in few weeks there were around 500 unanswered e-mails. I try to respond them all, sending at least mp3 and photo. All these things give a lot of confidence that Lithuania have chances of success this year. Soon we will go to Dublin and Malta. But anyway I prefer home to everything. The most difficult thing for me is to be separated from family, friends, but, on the other hand, it is the possibility to see the world ... It is a pity that I can not go with family and friends, as the British representative, who travels with her friend, manager, stylist, some other people. They can afford it." |

в Амстердам была, мне кажется, лучшим туром из тех,
что я совершил. Не только потому что мне очень
хотелось посмотреть этот город, а потому что там
проводилось "мини Евровидение", в котором
приняли участие 22 страны, собравшее 2000 зрителей,
поклонников со всей Европы", пишет Саша Сон в
своем блоге на Delfi.lt "Во время концерта зрители очень положительно меня встретили. Потом я участвовал в вечеринке, общался с журналистами, поклонниками, все хотели со мной сфотографироваться. У многих из них даже были фотографии с "Dainu Daina" и они просили поставить на них автограф, это значит что им нравится моя песня. Это очень приятно. Из всех исполнителей мне больше всего понравилась Джейд Ивен из Великобритании. К ней было приковано большое внимание, практически невозможно пробиться, одно интервью следовало за другим. Но я смог пожать ей руку и начал петь ей ее песню. Она была очень удивлена. Потом мы сфотографировались вместе. Мне также очень понравилась представительница Молдовы Нелли Чобану, очень профессиональная певица, правда на концерте она выступала под фонограмму... К сожалению, я был одним из немногих исполнителей, что пел вживую. Это было необязательным, но я отношусь к такой категории исполнителей, которым надо прочувствовать песню, а не просто открывать рот. Мы также были в Гааге, передвигались по городу на открытом автобусе. Было очень приятно, хорошая погода, чистый воздух. Везде были поклонники. Вообще заметно, что в Нидерландах конкурс воспринимают намного серьезнее, чем в некоторых других странах. Многие спрашивали меня, в каких странах я уже побывал. Когда я говорил, что был в Украине, Латвии, Финляндии - они спрашивали, почему так мало? Мне приходилось объяснять, потому что нам государство практически не помогает и у нас очень мало финансов. Например, в Ирландии или Великобритании государство платит за все. Эта поездка добавила мне уверенности в себе и своей песне. Я получил множество комплиментов. Мне также очень приятно, что телекомпания получает огромное количество писем в мой адрес. Продюсеры говорят, что это первый год, когда мы получаем столько писем. Каждый день мне приходит по 30-50 e-mail, и за несколько недель собралось уже около 500 неотвеченных. Я стараюсь ответить всем, выслать хотя бы mp3 и фотографию. Все это придает мне уверенности в том, что у Литвы в этом году есть хорошие шансы на успех. Скоро мы отправимся в Дублин и на Мальту. Но я все равно предпочитаю дом.  19/04 As usual,
annually during the period between national selections and before the beginning of
Euroweek fan polls and charts are launched, trying to determine preliminary Eurovision
favourites. Traditionally, after preview parties where fans can listen to the
participating entries and watch their music videos or live performances, official
Eurovision Contest fan clubs (OGAE) are voting as well. Currently, there are around 40
national OGAE clubs. Created in 2003 and officially accepted in 2007 OGAE Rest of the
World club includes fans of Eurovision contest who live in non-participating countries or
countries that currently do not have own official OGAE clubs. Despite more than 100 OGAE
Rest of the World members live in almost all continents, exept for Antarctics, every year
club conducts fan voting to determine it's favourites. The winner of this voting are being
awarded by the special prize "Dombyra Award". In previous years winners of this
award were Eirikur Hauksson from Iceland and Ruslan Alehno from Belarus. OGAE Rest of the World Eurovision 2008 voting has produced the following result: 12 points - Lithuania, 10 Estonia, 8 Norway, 7 Bosnia, 6 Israel, 5 Moldova, 4 France, 3 Sweden, 2 UK, 1 Slovakia. We congratulate winners! The prize will be handled to Lithuanian representative Sasha Son during one of the press-conferences of Euroweek in Moscow. Евровидение проводятся фанатские голосования,
посвященные определению промежуточных
фаворитов Евровидения. По традиции, после
просмотра видеоклипов стран участниц, голосуют и
официальные фан-клубы Евровидения (ОГАЕ). В
настоящее время зарегистрированы около 40
национальных ОГАЕ клубов. В 2003 году создан и в 2006
году получил официальный статус клуб ОГАЕ
Остальной мир, в который входят поклонники
конкурса из стран не принимающих в нем участие,
или стран - пока, по каким-то причинам, не имеющих
собственных клубов. Несмотря на то, что более 100
членов клуба ОГАЕ Остальной мир разбросаны
практически по всем континентам, за исключением
Антарктиды, в клубе каждый год проводятся
подобные голосования. Их победителю даже
вручается специальный приз "Dombyra Award". В
прошлые годы обладателями данного приза
становились исполнитель из Исландии Эйрикур

| During the two hour long support concert for the Sasha Son 73 thousands of Lithuanian lits have been collected via the telephone calls. From this amount, around 40% will be claimed by the phone operators. It is not yet known, how much sums have been donated directly to the bank accounts provided. | Preparations
for Eurovision, according to producer of Sasha Son, Martynas Tyla, will cost around 50-150
thousands of LTL. In past years, government was able to provide around 300 thousands for
preparations of Lithuanian participant, but this time Municipality of Vilnius will sponsor
only symbolic 7 thousands, while Ministry of Foreign Affairs granted 40 thousands to LRT
for preparations and from this money transport and accomodation in Moscow will be paid. - This time the budget of participation of Lithuania at Eurovision is on the
economy class level. We almost abandoned the release of commemorative souvenirs, even
T-shirts with the label for the support group had been printed in a very limited edition -
tells LRT producer Jonas Vilimas. Little hope is based on a special fund raising concert,
which will take place on 13th of April and will be broadcasted live on radio and
television at 20.00 CET. Linas Adomaitis, SKAMP, Ovidijus Vysniauskas will be guests of
the concert. Anyone wishing to support Lithuanian artist are also able to do so through
special site: www.eurovizija2009.lt - We try to analyze how people react to different language versions of our song. We may also do bi or tri-lingual mix. We will wait until the last moment, and the version which will be performed at the semifinals, will be the final one. If we will get with it to the finals, then we won't change it any more, - said Martynas Tyla. Singer believes that his biggest competitors are the British
and Norwegian representatives. Eurovision Selection Coordinator Jonas Vilimas has stated
that this time interest in the Lithuanian representative is significantly higher than in
the past, but refused to predict anything. |

выделяло конкурсантам до 300 тысяч литов на
подготовку, но в этом году Мэрия Вильнюса смогла
выделить только символические 7 тысяч, а
Министерство иностранных дел выделило LRT на
подготовку 40 тысяч и они уйдут на транспорт и
проживание в Москве. - На этот раз бюджет участия Литвы на «Евровидении» на уровне эконом-класса. Мы почти отказались от выпуска памятных сувениров, даже майки с лейблом для группы поддержки пришлось выпустить очень ограниченным тиражом, - рассказал продюсер ЛРТ Йонас Вилимас Литовскому Курьеру. - Средства на дорогу и прочие расходы, связанные с поездкой на конкурс, пытаемся заработать за счет гонораров с концертов в Литве и в Ирландии. Ведь там нам предоставляют только гостиницу, а за все остальное - за еду и т. д. нужно будет платить самим, - говорит продюсер Саши Мартинас Тила. Небольшая надежда остается на то,
что средства удастся собрать на специальном
концерте, который пройдет 13го апреля и будет
транслироваться на радио и телевидении Литвы в
22.00 Москвы. Гостями концерта станут Линас
Адомайтис, SKAMP, Овидиус Вишнаускас и др. Все
желающие поддержать представителя Литвы также
могут сделать это через сайт www.eurovizija2009.lt Певец считает своими основными соперниками исполнителей из Великобритании и Норвегии. Йонас Вилимас отметил, что интерес к представителю Литвы в этом году значительно выше, чем в прошлые, но отказался давать какие-либо прогнозы. - Мы пробуем анализировать, как реагируют люди на разные варианты песни, что принимают, что нет. Возможно, сделаем также двух- или трехъязычный микс. Подождем до последней минуты, и та версия, которую исполним в полуфинале, станет окончательной. Dima Savrovas has started using a new stage name aimed for international market. Until
now, he has been known as Sasha Son (Sasha Dream from Russian), but from now he is adding
one more letter G to the end of the name and will be known as Sasha Song, because the
English speaking fans should pronounce his name correctly and get better correct
association. It has appeared that English speaking fans tend to pronounce Son as 'San', and think that it may mean child. However, in Russian Son means 'Dream' and is pronounced differently. Addition of new letter g - 'Song' will bring more correct pronounciation of the stage surname of the singer as last consonant is not completely pronounced in English. For Russian market, however, old stage name will continue to be used and at Eurovision in Moscow artist will still perform as Sasha Son. |

международного рынка. До сегодняшнего дня он был
известен публике как Sasha Son (от русского слова Сон),
но теперь в него было решено добавить букву G в
конце - Sasha Song, для того, чтобы англоязычные
поклонники могли более правильно произносить
имя певца и у них появлялась более правильная

| 31/01 On Saturday, during the live broadcast of "Dainu Daina" LRT has announced the decision regarding the participation in the contest of two songs under question. LRT's Vytarius Radzevicius has announced that after listening to the positions of LATGA-A and performers, LRT has decided to exclude songs "Lietuva" and "Trapus zmogus" from the competition. During the live broadcast LATGA A director Edmund Vaitiekunas has noted that LATGA-A has discovered obvious similarities in works of Deivis Norvilas and Ruta Lukoseviciute with the works of foreign artists. Though both artists were given chance to speak against this decision, their opinion was not taken in account. Today, LATGA-A continued investigations regarding "Dainu Daina" song contest
studying new version of Deivis entry and another possible plagiarism case - entry by Ruta
Lukosevicute "Trapus Zmogus" (composed by Marius Matulevicius) which is similar
to Elton John's "Written In The Skies" from Aida musical. The expert comission, which consists of composers Andrius Borusevicius, Teisutis Makacinas and Mindaugas Urbaitis, composer and producer Raigardas Tautkus, composer and producer Deivydas Zvonkus, musician Darius Uzkuraitis and music expert Valdas Bytautas after more than two hours session came to the following conclusions: In new version of Deivis Norvilas' Lietuva the artistic idea has remained unchanged. The 1-4 tacts of similar motive to "There She Goes" have been avoided, fifth tact of similarity has survived. "No more new versions for me! I tried to avoid all the similarities, but I kept the fifth stroke, just to let everyone know - I didn't cheat!". LATGA-A and Deivis have decided to apply to the British copyrights defending organization and wait for their decision. "I'm waiting official reply from the composers of "There She Goes", whatever it might be, as I play my cards open", said singer. Regarding the Ruta's entry, comission stated that songs are obviously

Final decision on Deivis entry in Lithuanian preselection: it is allowed to stay in the
competition, provided several changes made. We previously reported the comission of experts, which included composer Mindaugas Urbaitis, composer and producer Raigardas Tautkus, music expert Valdas Bytautas, composer and producer Deivydas Zvonkus and musician Darius Uzkuraitis has examined the possible plagiarism case related to the song "Lietuva". Despite two days ago, director of LATGA-A has expressed his negative remarks, today's final conclusion came in a favour of singer and his entry: 1. Plagiarism case dismissed. These songs are two different music. 2. Both songs chorus have obvious similarities in a motive, but on the expert commission's view, this is a random coincidence, that may occur in the creative process. 3. Expert Panel recommends to the composer to replace the above-mentioned similarities in his song and submit a new version of it for the re-evaluation by January 28th. "I'm clean in front of my audience and in front of the God", stated earlier Deivis in his official statement. However, it seems not to be the end of the sttory. LATGA-A has noted that conclusion of Panel of Experts can be considered in the case of possible copyright infrigement, but it is not the final decision. As director of LATGA-A has stated: "Only the law enforcement authorities can give the final conclusion. Authors of "There She Goes" can still submit claims for possible rights violations against the song, as it was already publicly broadcasted in that version". Update 23/01: LATGA A has distributed a report in which it proposes to LRT to disqualify Deivis from the future rounds of the competition. "Amendments of the song, as proposed by the music experts, will leave the problem unresolved", states the report. Producer of the show, Jonas Vilimas stated that the contest organizers have not yet taken any decision on further participation of Deivis. "Every day, they tell something different", says Deivis. After he was requested to slightly modify the song, singer has already done this. "No one has submitted evidence, and has shown to me that this is plagiarism. It seems that my song is somehow a symbol. It has survived what had to survive Lithuania - various oppressions and accusation", adds performer. |

Today, special meeting of LATGA-A (Lithuanian national institution for copyrights
protection) was held to determine whether run away winner of 2nd quaterfinal of
"Dainu Daina", song "Lietuva" by Deivas is plagiarism of the song
"There She Goes" by The La's. As the result of the meeting Edmundas Vaitekunas, director general of LATGA-A has declared: "This song, submitted to the competition can not only win any of the awards, it even should not be broadcasted publicly". LATGA-A is one of the organizers of a national song contest, which takes care to avoid the infringement of copyright. Although the experts came to the conclusion that the tracks can not be considered the same song, they have also determined that several parts of the track are similar to the original song. "It is our job to protect copyrights both for the entire work and it's individual parts", said Vaitekunas. With such a strong statement, it is very possible that the song will be disqualified from the semifinals of the competition, reports Alfa. "Let them think what they want. I can not satisfy everyone with everything. I know how to write songs. I never before used any work of others. If anyone thinks differently, he can try to prove it in the court. I have heard that song one or two times in my life, and while creating my song I was not even thinking about it", singer Deivis categorically denied any talks of possible plagiarism earlier today. "The only reason I've entered the song is that people need to sing something on national holidays, except the anthem. Lithuanian participation in the contest. "The circumstances that were against our
participation are now solved. Winner of Dainu Daina will receive the proposal to take part
in Eurovision Song Contest", informs LRT in the official press-release. Yesterday, LRT was unable to confirm their participation yet, criticizing EBU for publishing the list of participants without proper confirmation from the broadcaster. list of participants of the "Dainu Daina" show of Lithuanian LRT. According to LRT statement
Ruslanas Kirilkinas will not take part in the show and has been replaced with Vita
Rusaitite. As LRT reports, producer of Ruslanas has been allowing the singer to take part
in competition only if Lithuania was confirmed as Eurovision participant. Allegedly, the
singer has already agreed to take part in other music project "Stars duets". It is expected that EBU will release final list of participating broadcasters in the next couple of days and though LRT will be included in it, the final decision on their participation has not been reached yet. LRT PR manager Vytaras Radzevicius has informed Delfi that "The negotiations are still ungoing. "Dainu Daina" is first of all a national contest. If during it's running it will be confirmed that Lithuania will be taking part in Eurovision, "Moscow trip" will be added as a prize to the winner of it". According to Mr. Radzevicius: "Because of financial crisis, organizers have delayed registration deadlines. Result of negotiations will become known in couple of weeks time". ESCKaz sources, however hint, that LRT is close to confirm it's Eurovision participation, but would like not to associate national project "Dainu Daina" with European contest, thus the official announcement is delayed. It was also announced that band "BIX" will not be disqualified from the preselection. As producer Jonas Vilimas told Alfa, indeed the song was performed publicly before October 1, "but it is not the base for disqualification, as this performance and this song were not registered at Lithuanian copyrights organization LATGA-A and as the performers themselves assured, the song was in the creative process". So it will take part in preselection under a new title "Gyvenimo valsas" The show "Dainu Daina" will start this Saturday at 21.00 local time. During the three Saturdays Lithuanian television viewers will see the three quaterfinals, each involving 12 performers. After that there will be two semifinals, top 18 performers from the first stage of the show will take part in thems plus 2 performers selected by LRT. On February 14th final of competition will take place with 10 performers. Winner will be selected via televoting. Another novelty is that in "Dainu Daina" regional televoting will be used - all ten districts of Lithuania will vote separately. "Every district has a right to express their opinion and will be represented, as it is the contest for the whole Lithuania - The Lithuanian Song of Songs. We also find this voting model more objective", informed Jonas Vilimas. Show will be hosted by Audrius Girzadas and Livija Gradauskiene. Following artists will take part in the first quaterfinal: 1. Если во время его проведения будет подтверждено, что Литва примет участие в Евровидении, то "поездка в Москву" будет добавлена в список призов для победителя", проинформировал PR менеджер телеканал Витарас Радзевичус. "Из-за финансового кризиса, организаторы отложили сроки регистрации на конкурс. Результат переговоров станет известен через пару недель". Lithuanian participation in the Eurovision Contest is in
danger. LRT board meeting on Tuesday has approved closing of several LTV and LTV2 programs. Since January 2009 Lithuanian television will no longer broadcast shows "Tevai ir vaikai", "Poziuris", "Emigrantai", "Gimnazistai", "Zodziu kisene", "Laiko portretai", reported LRT. "Giving the difficult economic situation, one of the ways of saving can be a refusal to participate in international competitions. This is one of the options, but not the only" - informed today Director-General of LRT Audrius Siaurusevicius. If LRT withdraws from all three Eurovision events they may save around million of lits. Though according to LRT, EBU has decided to reduce participation fees almost twice, "as yet no decision on international projects has not been accepted". Therefore, though it is planned that "Dainu Daina" competition will go on, it's winner may not get chance to represent country during Eurovision in Moscow.  As LTV
musical producer Jonas Vilimas informed at LRT press-conference devoted to launch of the
new show, participation in the international competition requires extensive financial
resources. Last year the costs for taking part in Eurovision were around 240 000 lits.
According to him LRT is seriously considering withdrawal from the contest together with
Latvia. "It is still theoretical possibility that "Dainu Daina" winner will
take part in Eurovision 2009, but we are still undecided about it", alfa.lt
quoted Mr. Vilimas. Music project "Dainu Daina" will be broadcasted live from January 10 to February 14. Three winners will receive cash prizes in amount 15 000, 7 000 and 3 000 lits. Jury of the contest has selected 36 entries out of 60 submissions. Since Lithuanian participation in Eurovision is currently unlikely, organizers of "Dainu Daina" have removed "Eurovision" rules from the show. "The only rule, which was left is that the song could not have been performed before October 1. It is no sense to keep other ones like the length of the song, number of people on stage. Performers will be also allowed to play music live if they wish", - informed J. Vilimas. During the quaterfinals singers will sing live but can use a minus-1 phonogram. Those, who'd pass through to the semi will be accompanied by LRT band, in the final an orchestra will join LRT band. Member of preselection jury Darius Uzkuraitis noted that there was certain lack of originality in the submitted entries. "It seemed that the performers still can not depart from Eurovision standards and formats" - he said. угрозой. Во вторник правление LRT утвердило закрытие ряда программ телеканалов LTV и LTV2. С января 2009 года зрители не увидят в эфире программ "Tevai ir vaikai", "Poziuris", "Emigrantai", "Gimnazistai", "Zodziu kisene", "Laiko portretai", сообщает LRT. "Имея в виду сложную экономическую ситуацию, одним из способов съэкономить является отказ от участия в международных конкурсах", проинформировал сегодня генеральный директор LRT Одриус Сиаурушевичус. В случае, если LRT откажется от участия во всех трех конкурсах Евровидения экономия может составить около миллиона литов. Поэтому даже несмотря на то, что по заверению LRT ЕВС приняло решение сократить взносы за право участия почти вдвое - "окончательное решение по поводу участия в международных проектах пока не принято". Таким образом, хотя телеканал и сохраняет планы продолжения проекта "Песнь песен", его победитель может не получить шанса выступить на Евровидении в Москве. В полуфинале с исполнителями будет выступать группа LRT, в финале будет использован живой оркестр. Член жюри отбора Дариус Ужкурайтис покритиковал конкурсантов, отметив, что в некоторые поданные песни не отличались оригинальностью. "Похоже, исполнители никак не могут отойти от стандартов и формата Евровидения", отметил он. preselection concerts on 10th, 17th and 24th of January of 12 entries each, 2 semifinals
on 31st of January of 10 entries and 7th of February and final of 10 entries on 14th of
February. This week national jury, including musician Darius Uzkuraitis, producer Jonas Vilimas, composer Linas Rimsa and director Donatas Ulvydas, will listen to the around 60 submitted entries. The list of participants will be announced this Friday, but it seems that Lithuanian broadcaster has managed to collect top singers of the country in this show.
