 The
couple representing Azerbaijan in Eurovision Dance Contest has been named. They are: Eldar
Dzhafarov and Anna Sazhina. Here
you can find short promotional clip, presenting couple and Azerbaijan, and here another clip devoted to
preparations of the couple.It is planned that at the contest they will perform dance on the song by Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford from musical "Phantom of the opera" in new arrangement, with use of national instrument "tar". The dance will be mix of pasodoble, tango, rumba and elements of Azeri traditional dance "Land of fire". Costumes of the dancers will also be made in traditional style. Eldar will enter the stage in costume made of velvet, decorated with gold. Anna's dress will also be done in traditional style, but later will transform to the dress more suitable for the tango and paso doble.  Eldar
Dzhafarov, 24 years old, was born on 27 December 1983 in Yekaterinburg - a city situated
in the middle of Russia the Ural area that divides Europe and Asia in two parts. Eldar started to dance when he was seven in a private school having one dancing lesson a week. At that stage no one even could imagine that he would become a professional Ballroom dancer! Later on Eldar began to attend the dancing club “Let’s Dance” where he started his professional career. He also took piano lessons. It soon became obvious that Eldar had a great passion for dancing. After graduating from middle school he received invitation to move to Tyumen, to practice in dance club lead by Andrey and Irina Kokuriny, experienced dance couple. They were seeking partner to their daughter Alexandra. In 2002 and 2003 he danced with Alexandra Kokurina for Russia. In less than half a year he got directly into final of all major youth competitions around the world and won several of them. After finishing the third course of the University of Economics he decided to move to Italy, to the school of Jerry Abrate and Caterina Arzenton, for the future development of his dance quality on the highest level. Currently, Eldar still regularily practices in Italy. In January 2004 he meets Anna Sazhina and they start dancing together, representing Azerbaijan. Young beautiful couple has entered Azerbaijan 2005 championship winning it.  Anna Sazhina, 24
years old, was born in Siberia in Irkutsk. Since childhood, Anna was looking at the photos
of her parents, Olga and Sergey, who had been the dancing champions of the town in the
past. Dancing was always in her dreams and she always imagined herself being a ballerina.
Like every child, Anna was going to school and tried herself in different fields of sport
and art. Many times she attempted to enter a dance studio but always fortune was not on
her side because she could not find a right partner to start a professional dance career
with. When she was 12, she said to herself: “It's now or never!" and went to the
dance club ”Lotos” where she met Natalia and Vladislav Inkizhekovy. They changed her
life. They were always giving her a great support in everything concerning her dancing and
other things in life. Anna studied a lot to become a lawyer like her father and at the age
of 18 she went to Slovenia to complete her education. She stayed there for 3 years and
despite her professional commitments, she still found time to practise her dancing. In
international level she represented Slovenia with Andraz Snoj. After her education was completed she was invited to work at one of the biggest insurance companies of Azerbaijan "Baku Insurance" and took decision to move to this country. In Baku destiny gave her one more chance to realise what she always wanted to do in life...to dance! She met Eldar and after a short try-out they decided to dance together. They are dancing together for more than 4 years already! Along with practicing and taking part in professional dance sport competitions Anna is working as PR manager in insurance company. Currently, Dzhafarov and Sazhina are three times national champions. Among other achievements of the couple are sucesses in international events in US (winners of Desert Classic 2008, Holiday Classic 2008, US Open 2007 in Latin), Russia (winners of Moscow Star in Latin), Georgia (winners of Caucasian Open 2006), The Netherlands (winners and laureats of Dutch Open 2004-2007), US (winners and laureats of UK Open 2004-2007, 6th at Blackpool Rising Star), Singapore, Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg and others. In IDSF rating the couple is ranked 184th in the world. Thanks to this achievements and successful performances abroad Eldar Dzhafarov and Anna Sazhina has been granted right to represent country at the Eurovision Dance Contest. Анне Сажиной как и Эльдару 24 года. Она родилась в Сибири в городе Иркутск. С детства Анна с большим интересом разглядывала фотографии родителей Ольги и Сергея – они у неё были абсолютными чемпионами города по танцам. Уже тогда маленькая Аня знала, что будет танцевать, в мечтах она всегда представляла себя баллериной. Она пробовала себя в спорте и в искусстве, но с танцами у неё, что-то не складывалось – она никак не могла найти себе нужного партнёра для начала профессиональной танцевальной карьеры. Когда ей было 12, она сказала себе: "Сейчас или никогда!" и пошла в школу танца "Лотос", там она встретила Наталью и Владислава Инкежековых. Именно они изменили её жизнь. Они всегда оказывали ей большую поддержку во всем, что касалось танца и не только. Но жизнь шла, она много училась, чтобы стать адвокатом как ее отец, и в возрасте 18 лет поехала в Словению для дальнейшего обучения в Европе. 3 года она училась и работала там, но не смогла забыть свое призвание – она всегда находила время для занятий танцами. На международном уровне она представляла Словению в паре с Андразом Сноем. По окончанию обучения Анна
получила приглашение на работу в одну из самых
крупных страховых компаний Азербайджана "Baku
Insurance" и приняла решение переехать в
Азербайджан. Именно в Баку судьба дала ей шанс
осуществить то, о чём она мечтала всю жизнь. Она
встретила Эльдара Джафарова и они стали
танцевать вместе. Танцуют они уже 4 года! Все эти
три года Анна параллельно работает менеджером по
связям с общественностью в страховой компании. Именно благодаря этим заслугам и успешным выступлениям на западе Эльдар Джафаров и Анна Сажина получили право представлять Азербайджан на танцевальном Евровидении.  Azerbaijan - is the only debuting country in Eurovision Dance Contest
2008 and it's representatives continue to attract the considerable attention. Couple Eldar
Dzhafarov and Anna Sazhina is not only one of the most experienced couples in competition,
but is also preparing to perform on British dance floor of the most original
presentations, based on the concept of "Phantom of the Opera". You can learn
more details on the preparations of the dancers for the competition, from ESCKaz exclusive
interview.- Good day, Anna and Eldar, and first of all, our congratulations to the fact that you were chosen as the representatives of Azerbaijan at Eurovision Dance Contest. What does this fact mean for you? Eldar: Thank you for your congratulations! Participation in Eurovision for us is a very important event. We have to represent Azerbaijan and dance culture of our country at the European level. We want to demonstrate at what quality level is dancing sport in our country. Anna: Let's say, this is a very responsible job for us, and right now we're actively making preparations to fulfil it. - How did you receive a proposal for participation in this project, and what was your first thought about it? Was it easy for you to agree? Eldar: Initially we were just hinted that there can happen a very important event that can change our future lives. As if we can can even become very famous people in the country. But what is the essence of it and what is the kind of the event, we couldn't even suspect. And then, in early summer, we have received phone call from Dance Sport Federation and we were informed that Azerbaijan will debut in the Eurovision Dance Contest, and that we are the main candidates to take part in the competition. By the end of June our participation has been officially confirmed, and we started a process of preparation. And whether it was easy for us to agree? Of course! The answer was clear "Yes"! The only thing that Anna had to agree on her work schedule in the insurance company, so that no emergency cases that can not be decided without her involvement should appear during this period. But I am confident that Eurovision is more important than any job. Anna: This is what you think, Eldar, and not my heads (laughs). Kidding, of course. They were sympathetic to my engagement and gave me unplanned holiday for the time of preparations for Eurovision. - What is your aim at the contest, is it to reach a victory in it? Anna: Yes, we want to win! We strive for this victory and are doing everything in our power to achieve it. We need this high goal, which we have set ourselves. It is important to know that we have done everything possible to achieve superior results. Eldar: In Azerbaijan, there is a high interest in this competition and people are looking forward a good result. Victory is, certainly, much more pleasant than just a decent performance, but I personally don't think now about the first place, to me more important will be the feeling that we with Anna were the best on the dance floor on 6th of September in Glasgow. - In Azerbaijan there was no professional version of "Dancing with the stars". What do you think about this show, do you consider that it really helps to promote dance sports and would like you for something similar to appear on Azerbaijani TV screens? Anna: These types of show are very important moment for the promotion of ballroom dancing in Europe. It is really pity for me personally that we haven't manage to conduct this sort of show in Azerbaijan. Indeed, adaptations of Strictly Come Dancing in different countries broke records for television ratings among the entertainment programmes and at the same time provoked a real dance boom in Europe. I believe that after our Eurovision performance and broadcast of this show on Ictimai TV, Azerbaijan will also get own show in Strictly Come Dancing format. Eldar: Recently, we have been often meeting with Azerbaijani stars, and they asked us the same question - when Azerbaijani version of "Dancing With Stars" will appear. Believe me, they are ready to start shootings and trainings tomorrow for participation in such a show.  -
And would you agree to participate in such a project in couples with Azerbaijani stars?Eldar: Yes, why not! Though I would be very carefully choosing a celebrity partner for Anna (laughs). This, of course, all joking, but participation in such Azeri project would be very interesting for us. But wait, we can participate in this show not only as dancers, but also in the role of the coaches or even choreographers! Anna: Do you think you will be invited? (laughs) Eldar: Well, hopefully (smiles enigmaticly) - In your opinion, how difficult it is to prepare unprofessional dancer for a dance floor performance? Eldar: This is a difficult but doable task. Starting from elementary technic and ending with those emotions, which should occur during the performance of a dance, all this are elements of actor's skills. The audience must believe you and compare the history of your dance with own life. The audience must empathize you, and it is very difficult to reach. And there it is not important whether you are professional or not. The main thing is that person should move beautifully and be attractive - it will always look better than irreproachable performance of all the technical moments of the dance. Anna: I think, that also a lot depends on the feelings. If a person feels the rhythm, the dance itself, it's message, mood, then technics itself will reach him. - Is there a great difference between professional couples compared to the couples drawn on the principle dancer + celebrity, if we will take into account that only one short dance is to be performed? Last year in EDC all the first three places have been taken professional couples, do you consider that your dancing experience gives you some advantage? Eldar: I do not think it gives us an advantage. First, we are performing only in amateur category of sports dances. Eurovision is the show, so not so much technical side of your performance is valued, but aт entertainment, organics and hidden message of your dances. This is not a competition where everyone enters the floor and dance more or less same rumba. According to the idea of the contest there will be 14 mini-spectacles, 14 stories, which will be be told by the participants in the language of dance. - This year at all participating couples should perform only one freestyle dance style with the national colour included in it. Tell us more about the dance, you'll perform? What will be the national colors of it? Eldar: It was a difficult moment. We have decided to base our performance on the famous musical "Phantom of the Opera" by Andrew Lloyd Webber, but we had to combine it with the motives of Azerbaijan culture. I admit, it was not so easy, but now it seems that we have successfully merged the Azerbaijani national moves with Latin American dances. Everything will nicely and smoothly transfer from one to another. At the very beginning, for the effective entrance, we have used elements of a national dance "Land of Fire", but what happens next in our performance, I prefer not to tell, let this be the secret.  -
You have chosen to perform dance on the soundtrack from "The Phantom of the
Opera", can you please explain this choice, how it had happened?Anna: That was my choice. We were in a very long sought a suitable music, that we all would like. One night, while sitting on the floor in my room, I was moving the CDs, already desperately struggling to find anything suitable. And then I got into the hands the CD of "Phantom of the Opera". Listening to this music, I realized that this is exactly what we were looking for so long, and I simply shouted: "Eldar, I found, found!" Eldar: I even jumped from those yellings, I remember. Listening to the record, I've realised that Anya was right. Song, which we have chosen, has proved to be effective, sensual and it can be successfully combined with fragments of Azerbaijani music. - Are you responsible for choreography of your performance and design of your outfits yourselves, or someone is helping you with it? Eldar: We're being helped in preparation for the competition by totally different people from different countries. We've started working on staging of our performance in US. Worked with a very famous choreographer, one of top 3 directors of USA - Bruno Collins. Then we continued to work on a performance in Italy in school of Jerry Abrate and Caterina Arzenton, who helped us to include new elements in the dance. A Azerbaijani dance elements we rehearsed locally in Azerbaijan. Anna: Also in our preparations we are helped by our partners, a promotional team from Ukraine. And even designs of costumes was developed in Italy, but the final work on them took place in Azerbaijan. They are very original and we can say even quite unexpected. I think the audience will be surprised. - A few general questions about Eurovision Dance Contest. Have you watched (possibly recorded) competition of last year and what were your impressions of it? Eldar: Yes, and we watched with pleasure. There were a lot of worthy performances, but a couple from Finland were deserved winners of it. Though we've been supporting Russian couple. Anna: Yes, as Vlad Borodinov, who danced last year with Maria Sittel is our good friend. Every time we travel to Moscow, we try to meet and talk to him. - Do you think that Eurovision Dance can become just as popular as the Song contest? Anna: Certainly! Eldar: This contest has some great potential. Eurovision Dance can reach the same level of popularity as the Song contest. Remember, at what level of popularity was dancing in Europe prior to the launch of Strictly Come Dancing? Now more and more dance schools are opening. People loved ballroom dancing, and they want to dance! It's spectacular, beautiful and unexpected. So I really think that Eurovision Dance Contest has great future. - Do you think Eurovision Dance Contest can be also affected by political voting, which has been hampering for a long tim it's Singing analogue? Anna: We are not even thinking about it, honestly. Eldar: You know, this is not really our task to think on what may influence the results of public voting. Yes, basicly anything can affect the vote - the accident, politics, vague sympathies… Our task is the dance. We are now fully absorbed by our dance "Phantom of the Opera", preparations for the competition and we think only on how to improve our performance, how to tell a European audience the mystical love story of our heroes Erik and Christine. So we really are not thinking on whether voting will be political or not.  - Do you follow the news of the
competition, the results of national selections of other countries? Are you interested to
find our who will be your rivals?Eldar: Naturally, we are interested to know who are the other participants of Eurovision. We follow the news, partly watch national selections of other countries. The main thing for us is to realise from all this flow of information that our performance will be different to anyone else's. This is what is really important for us, and not the biographies of other participants. - What are your future plans, in addition to participation in the Eurovision Dance? Eldar: How far do you look! (laughs) We are now fully busy now with the process of preparing for the competition and are not really thinking about the future. Anna: We will start building further plans, after results of the competition will be announced on September 6th evening. - Thank you for answers, good luck for you in preparations! |

"We have great news for you – our dance is already done! All preparations for our
performance are finished! So now all we need it’s to practice more and more to make our
performance accomplished in physical meaning. In final version of our dance we improve some parts to make it more gracefully and eye-catcher. Now we are planning to practice 4-5 hours a day only physically. After this part of our training we will organize rehearsal and repeat our dance from the very beginning till the end without any breaks. We are in good condition now. We are happy that the main part of preparation is completed and we need to figure out only administrative questions. One more – in 2 days we will be in Baku. If anybody didn’t know we are in Italy now, in Verona where we have prepared our performance to EDC 2008 in school of Jerry Abrate and Caterina Arzenton", informed Azerbaijani dancers Anna and Eldar via their LiveJournal. |

Вся подготовка к выступлению завершена! Все, что
нам теперь остается, продолжать тренироваться,
чтобы поддерживать свою физическую форму. В окончательной версии нашего танца, мы изменили несколько отрезков, чтобы он выглядел более грациозно и стал более запоминающимся. Теперь мы планируем тренироваться по 4-5 часов в день только физическими упражнениями. "We used national elements at the beginning of our performance to give audience
possibility to feel the real atmosphere of Azerbaijan and our national dance culture.
After Land of Fires audience will see a passo division and all other dancing parts of our
performance" – tells Eldar Dzhafarov. Latin section of Azerbaijan performance will
include elements and movements of romantic and sexual dances rumba and paso doble, while
ballroom section contains elements of foxtrot and passionate tango. The main idea
of Azerbaijani performance – dreams become true! In musical phantom Erik is a master for
young Christine. With Erik’s help Christine becomes the best singer in the Opera House
and in such way her secret dream becomes real. In dance performance Phantom of the Opera
Eldar will be master for Anna. They try to put story from musical on the language of
dance. This evening the secret dream of Anna will become real. With the help of her master
she will dance for millions of people as her life and faith will get a new beautiful
meaning! |

Мы предлагаем выдержки из него: - Изначально у нас была идея выступить под композицию из оперы "Кармен", но мы от этой идеи отказались, так как "Кармен" - это исключительно испанская музыка и ей могли бы воспользоваться участники из Испании. А как вы знаете, в музыке и танце должен быть представлен национальный колорит. Аранжировку песни, под которую мы будем выступать в Глазго, со звуками национальных инструментов, сделал Яшар Бахыш. Музыка сама нам подсказала, что и как следует сделать в нашем номере. Мы профессионально синтезировали национальный колорит с основной темой, соединили нашу азербайджанскую культуру с западной. В наших костюмах больше основной "фантомной" тематики. - Главными соперниками считаем пары из России - Татьяна Навка и Александр Литвиненко, Украины - Лилия Подкопаева и Сергей Костецкий, Дании - Катя Свенссон и Патрик Спигельберг. - Первого сентября вылетаем на конкурс. За пару дней до конкурса в Глазго пройдет азербайджанская вечеринка, а перед отъездом в Баку будет организована наша пресс-конференция. |

As ESCKaz has reported earlier, Azerbaijani participants of Eurovision Dance Contest 2008
Eldar Dzhafarov and Anna Sazhina have organized a three-day visit to Kyiv. In Ukraine they
finalized production of video materials for the postcard for the contest with famous
Ukrainian director Oles Sanin, and operator Sergey Mihalchuk, made a studio portfolio
photosession and almost finished working on the mixing of their soundtrack "The
Phantom of Opera" in new arrangement. In last day of their visit on the 14th of
August Eldar and Anna used their chance to meet olympic champion Lilia Podkopayeva and her
partner Sergey Kostetskiy during the improvised master-class. Couples met in State Youth Music Theater. At the beginning Eldar and Anna handled to Lilia a bouquet of white roses, and to Sergey - old-fashioned Azerbaijani knife. In response, Lilia handed over to Azerbaijani dancers national dolls in traditional costumes. At the improvised master-class couples have swapped partners. Lilia and Sergey tried to teach guests elements of Ukrainian dances, and themselves tried to learn movements from Azerbaijan ones. After some time Eldar
suggested to dance passionate rumba. "We will organize Azerbaijani dance party in
Glasgow and we invite you in advance. So now we have great opportunity for practice how we
will dance there" told Eldar and start dancing with Lilia. Regardless to significant
difference in height, first dance try turned out to be successful for them as they caught
the moment of mutual understanding. Lilia has noted that Eldar is very plastic and
excellently feels his parter. "We're not very suitable to each other in height, but I
could guess every his movement, so our dance went OK". The passionate rumba even made
Anna a bit jealous, as she and Eldar are not only dance-couple but as well life-couple. |

трехдневным визитом. В Киеве они участвовали в
съемках ролика-визитки для конкурса, режиссером
которого выступил известный украинский
кинематографист Олесь Санин, а оператором Сергей
Михальчук, провели ряд фотосессий и закончили
работу над сведением музыкального сопровождения
собственного номера "Призрак оперы". В
последний день пребывания в Киеве Эльдар и Анна
использовали возможностьт встретиться с
олимпийской чемпионкой Лилией Подкопаевой и ее
партнером Сергеем Костецким во время
импровизированного мастер-класса. Встреча произошла в помещении Государственного музыкального театра для детей и юношества. В начале встречи Эльдар и Анна вручили Лилии букет белых роз, а Сергею - кинжал. В ответ, в память об Украине они получили по тряпичной куколке в национальных костюмах. На ипровизованном мастер-классе пары обменялись партнерами – Лилия с Сергеем пытались научить гостей элементам украинских танцев, а те, в свою очередь, усердно обучали движениям азербайджанских танцев. По окончанию мастер-класса Эльдар
предложил украинской паре станцевать страстную
румбу. "В Глазго за пару дней до конкурса мы
собираемся организовать горячую
азербайджанскую танцевальную вечеринку. Мы
заранее приглашаем вас на это событие, и сейчас у
нас есть уникальная возможность посмотреть, кто
же чего стоит", - сказал Эльдар и пригласил
Лилию на танец. Несмотря на внушительную разницу
в росте новоиспеченной пары их первая попытка

| 11/08 Since last week Azerbaijan representatives at Eurovision
Dance Contest are in Kiev, where they are rehearsing and where shooting of the postcard,
which will be shown prior to their Eurovision performance, will be made. Eldar and Anna
will stay in Kiev till the end of this week. The main idea of Azerbaijani postcard is to show all parts of Anna & Eldar life. Video materials for the postcard will contain not only shots of Eldar & Anna dance performance but also episodes of private life of the couple, Anna’s daily routine in office of the insurance company, rehearsals in ball-room and on the beach near the Caspian sea during sunrise. Later in August Azeri couple will move to Italy to have training sessions with their coach, Caterina Arzenton. Meanwhile, in last days, EBU has issued official statement, concerning admission of Azerbaijan and Greek dancers to the competition. Unfortunately, the explanation is very illogical, and do not give direct answer why professional couples were allowed to join what is clearly meant to be pro-am contest. Танцевальном Евровидении с прошлой недели
находятся в Киеве, где проходят их репетиции и
состоится съемка "открытки", которая будет
предварять их выступление на Евровидении. Эльдар
и Анна пробудут в Украине до конца текущей
недели. Идея Азербайджанской открытки - показать все стороны жизни Эльдара и Анны. Видео будет содержать не только моменты спортивных выступлений пары, но и эпизоды из личной жизни танцоров, ежедневную работу Анны в офисе страховой компании, репетиции в танцевальном зале и на пляже рядом с Каспийским морем во время восхода солнца. В середине августа азербайджанская пара отправится в Италию для занятий с их тренером Катериной Арзентон. Тем временем, несколько дней назад ЕВС опубликовал официальное заявление, касающееся допуска азербайджанских и греческих танцоров до участия в конкурсе. К сожалению, объяснение весьма нелогично, и не дает конкретного ответа на вопрос, почему профессиональные пары были допущены до конкурса, который изначально подразумевался как соревнование смешанных пар. Azerbaijan dance couple Eldar Dzhafarov and Anna Sazhina have celebrated victories in
another international competitions in amateur standard category: "International Dance
Gala 2008", which took place earlier this week in cities of Salzburg and Bad
Hofgastein. In two events on Austrian soil, Azerbaijani couple saw off competitors from
UK, Italy, Poland, Netherlands, Germany and other countries. It is 3 victories in a row in
July for the dancers, earlier they also succeeded in "Desert Classic DanceSport
Festival 2008" in US, clearly demonstrating that they are currently in a perfect
form. In all of these 3 events couple also finished 4th in Amateur Latin category. In this
early days of August couple is ranked 180th in amateur ballroom world IDSF rankings. In regards to the controversy, we can only update you that ESCKaz has contacted Heads of delegations of Azerbaijan and Greece, EBU Executive Coordinator of the contest and EBU Manager Communications and PR. No reply on the issue was received from any of the sides. According to unofficial information ESCKaz has, both countries met with the difficulties in selection of celebrity partner for their couples and didn't manage to select their entrants in due time, prior to July 11th. At Heads of delegations meeting in Glasgow, they were granted exemption from the rules and short extra time to complete their selections. It is sad, however, that organizers of the contest do not publish any official statement on this fact. Understanding, that this are not dancers, but local and European organizers to be blamed for this controversy, we hope that the extra pressure added on the participating couples from these two countries will not prevent their dancers to show the best quality they can produce. Both couples are now confirmed as participants of the show, and ESCKaz sincerely wishes them good luck in their preparation. |

отпраздновали на этой неделе очередные победы на
международном уровне. В соревнованиях "International
Dance Gala 2008" в любительской категории по
стандартной программе, прошедших в австрийских
городах Зальцбург и Бад Хофгаштайн, Эльдар и Анна
победили участвующие пары из Великобритании,
Италии, Польши, Нидерландов, Германии и других
стран. Это третья победа подряд в июле для
азербайджанских танцоров, поскольку ранее они
также победили на "Desert Classic DanceSport Festival 2008" в
США, что демонстрирует тот факт, что пара в
настоящее время находится в своей наилучшей
форме. Во всех этих трех соревнованиях пара также
заняла 4е место в латинских танцах. На начало
августа азербайджанские танцоры занимают 180е
место в мировом рейтинге IDSF, стандарт. По вопросу полемики о правилах конкурса, мы лишь можем сообщить, что ESCKaz связался с главами делегаций Азербайджана и Греции, исполнительным координатором конкурса со стороны Европейского Вещательного Союза и менеджером конкурса по связям с общественностью. К сожалению, ни одна из сторон не согласилась дать комментарий по данному вопросу. Согласно неофициальной информации, имеющейся в распоряжении ESCKaz, обе страны встретились с определенными трудностями в выборе непрофессионального участника, и не смогли завершить комплектование пар в положенный срок, до 11 июля. Во время встречи глав делегаций в Глазго им было даровано исключение из правил и дополнительное короткое время на завершение отборов. Печально, что никто из организаторов конкурса не намеревается опубликовать никакого официального объяснения по этому поводу. Мы понимаем, однако, что в сложившейся ситуации следует винить не танцоров, а национальных и европейских функционеров, и поэтому, мы надеемся, что лишнее давление на эти пары не помешает конкурсантам из этих стран показать все самое лучшее, на что они способны. Обе пары уже утверждены в качестве участников конкурса, и ESCKaz искренне желает им удачи в подготовке. |

Earlier today, the European Broadcasting Union launched the official website of the 2008 Eurovision Dance
Contest. The site is listing Azerbaijani couple Dzhafarov-Sajina as participants of the show, without giving any hint why they were allowed to take part in the competition despite clear breach of the rules. Unfortunately, no response from Azerbaijani delegation has been received by ESCKaz as well. Meanwhile, Ictimai TV has presented couple to local viewers via Qaraj show. |

запустил официальный
вебсайт Танцевального Евровидения 2008. Сайт включает азербайджанскую пару Джафаров-Сажина в число участников конкурса, однако не дает пояснения, по какой причине им было разрешено принять участие в нем, несмотря на очевидное нарушение правил. К сожалению, ответа и разъяснения от представителей делегации Азербайджана ESCKaz получить также не удалось. Тем временем Ictimai TV представило пару местным зрителям посредством шоу Гараж. |

| 18/07 Controversy is surrounding Azerbaijan debut
participation in the contest. It appears that both selected dancers are dance
sport couple, which has taken part in more than 100 international sport dance
tournaments, in amateur class, in both standard and latin dances. Eldar and Anna are the
most famous Azerbaijani dance couple, 3 times national champions, IDSF
members. According
to the new competition rules, professional couples are
ineligible to take part, one of the
dancers must be a professional dancer, while the other, a non-professional dancer, known
in a field other than dance. ESCKaz has approached Azerbaijani broadcaster to clarify the issue. |

поднял спорный вопрос. Оказывается, что оба
выбранных танцора представляют собой спортивную
пару, принимавшую участие в более 100
международных турнирах по бальным танцам в
классе любителей, как в стандарте, так и в латине
и являются самой известной танцевальной парой
Азербайджана, трижды чемпионами страны, членами
IDSF. Согласно же новым правилам конкурса,
участие подобных пар запрещено. Один из
участников должен быть местной "звездой",
профессионально не занимавшейся танцами. |
