- Why pirates? You want to prove Latvia is great sea country?
- The idea about the project comes from the Swedish authors of the song. Why Pirates? Well, it is a fact that Latvia is a country by the Baltic Sea having fantastic sandy beaches and friendly people. Don’t you think it is something fairy-tale like about the Pirates? People like the Pirates of the Caribbean, the stories about Alibaba are still told, and we are about to prove that the Latvian Pirates are the best ones, the most adventurous and fun ones. We are here to promote not only our song “Wolves of the Sea”, but the invincible energy and positivism we as the Pirates can give you as well.

- How each of you was invited to join the band and what were your initial reactions on that?
- Roberto was the first to join the project as the Swedish authors of the song offered him to perform their masterpiece. As one Pirate is not that powerful as several of them, Roberto took a wise decision inviting Aleksandra and Janis onboard. Janis is an experienced sea farer as he has sailed around the world for 2 years so he is a real wolf of the sea; as well as he is very creative – he is a movie director and producer. So, tactically, we just need him not only for his voice, but for his “relationship” with cameras J. Aleksandra, our stunning maiden, just had to be taken as a team member as she can dance the storm and rain away – she won the first Latvian edition of “Strictly Come Dancing”.

- What will be your aim in the contest, are you aiming to conquer all participating countries and rob them for the points?
- Robbing the votes! Yes! It would be a pirate like act. But our main aim is to give the best performance we can and spread our love for what we do as well as our energy all over the world.

- Are you planning to record other versions of the track, other languages, remixes?
- We are working on other songs. Wolves of the Sea is catchy and danceable as it is – we do not want you to make too obsessed of it as there are other songs besides ours at the contest. Listen to them as well! But hum ours ONLY! J

- Are you planning some promotional tour later? Do you think in general that precontest promotion is important for the contest success?
- We set the sail to Sweden where we experienced a very warm welcome by the Swedish media. There is no doubt that promotion could help the entry to be more known, but to our mind the 3 minutes given to forward our message while being on the stage are the most important.

- Are you preparing changes to the way song will be presented on Belgrade stage, or presentation will be basically same as in Latvian final?
- We have polished the choreography as well as the new costumes are being made, but we do not want to tell much more – just wait for May 22! And do your best to see us on the stage again on May 24! ;)

- What do you think is more important for Eurovision success: song, performer or the show?
- Actually it is the symbiosis of all three. All the three components should preferably be in such a creative harmony that it results in a delightful performance.

- Eurovision is sometimes labelled as political contest. Do you think of it as political event?
- Come on! Pirates and politics! A lot of our everyday situations can be labeled as political as well. Even our project then could be defined as the most political, couldn’t it? Think about the emotions the contest brings up, the love for music regardless the age, nationality, language! We think that it is what counts the most!

- Have you heard any other songs taking part in this year competition? Anything fitting to your pirate taste?
- We really like many songs, cause behind them it is possible to feel the colours, the taste of each country taking part in the ESC. We would be glad to invite on our pirate s ship Ani Lorak, Sirusho and Dima Bilan to have a nice company sailing around the ESC seas! We think they will really fit as pirates.

- I believe you’ve had a chance to meet Ukrainian Ani Lorak during her stay in Riga?
- Yes, we had this great chance to meet this wonderful artist. We "attacked" her and Filip Kirkorov during her press conference, and since then they are our close friends. We gave them as a gift our pirates of the sea special rum that we give ONLY to good friends!

- Let's speak briefly on your career. What each one of you consider as the main highlight in it?
- Telling the truth, the best in your career is when you realize that what you are doing is appreciated by the people around you and by the audience. We try to be always positive, smiling and down to earth, to let the people feeling as a considerable part of our success

- Roberto, we’ve met you last year in Helsinki, it is probably difficult to turn from Italian gentleman to the pirate?
- Well, Italian man are well known to change themselves even totally, just to conquer a woman. That is why it was not difficult at all to leave the “cilindro” and put on the pirate hat, in order to conquer Aleksandra Kurusova’s heart! I am a pirate with the men who come too close to her, but still a real Italian gentleman with her.

- Janis, but it probably was more natural for you after making around the globe yacht journey? Can you tell briefly about this experience?
- Actually, traveling around the world I have acquired and discovered the best features of the pirates – positive and stress less attitude to live. So, we are the kind and generous pirates who will take your heart by storm, but still leave your money in your pocket and your jewelries on you.

- Alexandra, as ballroom dance professional, have you got chance to see last years Eurovision Dance Contest, which, btw, also featured performance of Pirates of Caribbean from Austrian couple?
- To be totally honest with you? I have not watched Eurovision Dance Contest. But I have enjoyed some YouTube videos from the shows like “Strictly Come Dancing”. Those shows are really colourful, creative, and the dances are very interesting and reveals such fantastic stories along them.
