Natalia Barbu was born in 1979 on the 22nd of August, in Balti, the north capital of Moldova. „I spent my childhood at my grandparents, in a marvelous village in the north of the country, situated in the heart of the forest, which I all went over, listening to the wonderful warbling of birds". Her greatest pleasure was to "make herself beautiful" and to wander from place to place, even to the forest. Every time when she found a "spectator", she was reciting him poems or singing songs. At the end of the concert Natalia was receiving her deserved applauses, taking the cheers and was going further. She believed that the world is hers and that every inborn artist had to keep its achievements. "My grandfather, Nicanor, an exceptional man, and my parents, have marked profoundly my personality. They educated in me the love and the respect for people, for nature and for everything that is the most beautiful in this world. My grandfather was sure that I'd become an artist and he was supporting me by telling me every time: "grandpa's artist"". When Natalia's grandparents were visited by relatives and guests, the stool became her stage; and on several square centimeters, the small maestro was running her show. She was receiving flowers, applauses, praise, kisses and candies. What more would a talent need? "When I was seven, our family moved to Ribnita (a zone of Dniestrian conflict)". Natalia's heroic and artistic character had found its manifestation field even there. If Natalia were not understood by the children from the yard, she was getting furious on those who didn't appreciate her values. The conquests were hardly achieved. Her parents insisted on Romanian school, even if the situation dictated something different. "I had to go to a Romanian school from Rezina, which was situated on the other bank of the Dniestr. During the Dniestrian War I went to school jumping through the barricades among guns and soldiers." Natalia also went to the Musical school. Natalia was "torturing" the violin, because she was obliged to do this, while other children were playing. However she had liked the music and yet, the childhood had its rights and requirements. The melody of the childish voices coming from the yard, dominated the violin song. Bowing diligently on the strings of the violin, Natalia imagined herself their in the yard messing with all children in the common noise. Now she doesn't regret this, because hard work makes an artist more valuable, especially now, when the violin is "laughing and crying" in her hands. She feels it and she plays it with all her soul. When Natalia is twelve she seriously begins her artistic activity, but not on the professional stage. She is invited at wedding parties - hard, but important experience for every artist. "Here, you are having real exams and if you pass them, you've got the chance." Playing violin and singing at the same time, Natalia succeeds, due her talent, in conquering the sympathy even of the most "difficult" spectator. Life becomes much harder. The Dniestrian conflict makes family's Barbu living almost impossible. "When the things went worse we had to take refuge in Chisinau, for the family's safeness. My mother began to sing in the Folk Music Band "Mugurel" and I continued my studies in Romanian language." After graduating from the gymnasium class of the secondary school, Natalia continues her studies in the Music High School Stefan Neaga. She works hardly. She has the violin in her hands and she plays it in the Folk Music Band. Deeply in her soul, she is dreaming to become a performer. And finally she succeeds. Natalia appears as a vocalist in the Folk Music Orchestra from the High School, but she doesn't leave aside the violin. Simultaneously she is tempted to sing jazz and pop. She is willing of freedom to improvise, just like in childhood. She does not give up. The year 1998 appears to be of great importance, even decisive one, for Natalia Barbu's career. This year she graduates from the High School and she becomes a violinist in the Folk Music Band "Mugurel". Her dream to perform pop music, not only is getting a shape, but it comes true. This year she takes part in three pop Festivals and she gets either the first place, or the Grand Prix and the trophy. And the greatest achievement of this year is the Grand Prix and the Trophy of the Festival "Mamaia '98", Romania, and Miss Festival - Press Prize. Natalia Barbu reaches her goal. Everyone speaks about her at superlative, everyone is eager to know her; everyone recognizes her unprecedented vocal abilities. It was like she had made the string on several good octaves. Next year Natalia tries to become a member of the Band "Millenium", but she does not stay there for a long time, because she decides to come back to her solo career. Simultaneously she begins to study at the State Conservatory "Gavriil Muzicescu" from Chisinau. She continues to pick her trophies from International Festivals, hurrying up. Life seems to be less interesting without several trophies per year. She doesn't feel comfortable when the adrenaline level decreases, that is why she always fulfills it with the emotions during the contests. And besides all of these, being a true Leo, she needs continuous conquests. Unfortunately everything has its end. Natalia becomes mature. She has the feeling that everything is too easy to get and she takes a break. "It's easy to rise on the top; it's more difficult to stay there. Even if I succeeded, I had to stop, in order to analyze everything I had done. While feeling dizzy of my success I might not notice the fact that actually I am falling. This break was for my good. I have meditated upon many things and I'm ready for the fight, because now I clearly see the path of my way." Here begins the period of experiments. Natalia with a group of musicians from Trigon works on the new album, a different one (jazz-folk). But the new is that in this project Natalia writes the lyrics by herself, composes the music for the majority of songs and on the arrangements works seriously the entire team. Everyone believes in this project, a lot. Natalia does not appear for while on the stage. Working in studio, takes all her time and energy. The project is not a commercial one and that is why it didn't reach to the stage of professional recordings. It remains a demo version in Natalia's drawer for the better times. Natalia signs a contract for three years with the Company Cat Music (Sony Music) from Bucharest. Now she has already a recorded album and a video clip for "My Angel". And that's not all… This year, Natalia will represent the Republic of Moldova in Helsinki at Eurovision Song Contest 2007. The expectancies are great, but it is necessary to work hard and to have enough energy to manage everything. The bag for future plans is full and even if she has many achievements she always says that "everything is ahead. You have to Fight!" "Я провела свое детство с бабушкой и дедушкой в потрясающей деревне на севере страны, расположенной посреди леса, который я весь обходила, слушая завораживающее пение птиц". Ее любимым занятием было наряжаться и ходить с одного места на другое, даже в лес. И каждый раз, когда она находила "зрителя", она читала ему стихотворения или пела песни. По окончанию "концерта" Наталья получала заслуженные аплодисменты, одобрения и двигалась дальше. Она верила, что весь мир ее, и что каждому прирожденному артисту надо завоевывать новые достижения. "Мой дедушка Никанор, исключительный человек, и мои родители, очень сильно повлияли на мою личность. Они учили меня любви и уважению людям, природе и всем, что есть в мире прекрасного. Мой дедушка был уверен, что я стану артисткой и постоянно поддерживал меня, называя "дедушкиной артисткой". Когда к дедушке Натальи приходили родственники и гости, стул становился сценой и на этих нескольких квадратных сантиметрах маленькая артистка давала свое шоу. Она получала цветы, аплодисменты, поцелуи и конфеты. Что еще нужно таланту? "Когда мне было семь, наша семья перехала в Рыбницу, зону Приднестровского конфликта". Героический и артичтичный характер Натальи нашел способы выражения и здесь. Есть Наталью не понимали дети с ее двора она очень злилась на тех, кто не ценит ее таланты. Ее родители настояли на том, чтобы Наталья пошла в Румынскую школу, хотя ситуация диктовала другое. "Мне пришлось ходить в Румынскую школу, расположенную на другом берегу Днестра. Во время войны я ходила в школу, перепрыгивая через баррикады с солдатами и оружием". Наталья также ходила в музыкальную школу, где "мучала" скрипку, потому что была обязана это делать в то время, как другие дети играли. Она любила музыку, однако детство есть детство. Детские голоса со двора перекрикивали звуки скрипки. Деликатно играя на струнах Наталья представляла себя во дворе возящейся с другими детьми. Но сейчас она об этом не жалеет, потому что усердие делает артиста более ценным, особенно сейчас, когда скрипка "смеется и плачет" в ее руках. Она чувствует ее и играет со всей душой. Когда Наталье было 12 лет, она всерьез начинает артистическую деятельность, правда не на профессиональной сцене. Ее приглашают выступать на свадьбах, тяжелый, но очень нужный опыт для каждого исполнителя. "Здесь ты проходишь настоящий экзамен, и если ты его успешно сдаешь, у тебя появляется шанс". После окончания школы Наталья продолжает обучение в Музыкального училища Стефана Неага. Она напряженно работает. У нее в руках скрипка и она играет в фольклорном оркестре. Глубоко в ее душе, она мечтает стать исполнительницей. И наконец мечта сбывается. Наталья становится вокалисткой фольклорного ансамбля училища, но не оставляет и скрипку. В то же время, она пытается петь джаз и поп. Она хочет иметь свободу импровизации, как в детстве и не сдается. Важным, даже решающим в карьере Натальи Барбу становится 1998 год. В этом году она заканчивает музыкальное училище и становится скрипачкой в фольклорном ансамбле "Mugurel". Ее мечта исполнять поп музыку становится реальностью. В этом году она принимает участие в трех поп фестивалях и везде завоевывает либо первое место, либо Гран-При. Высшим достижением для ее является Гран-При фестиваля в Румынии "Мамайя 98", а также приз прессы "Мисс Фестиваля". Наталья Барбу достигает своей цели. Все говорят о ней в превосходном тоне, все стремятся с ней познакомиться, все признают ее беспрецедентные вокальные возможности. В следующем году Наталья пытается стать участницей группы "Миллениум", но не задерживается в ней надолго, потому что решает вернуться к сольной карьере. Одновременно, она поступает в государственную консерваторию в Кишиневе. Она продолжает собирать премии междунардных фестивалей. Жизнь кажется менее интересной, если она не приносит несколько трофеев в год. Она не чувствтвует себя удобно, когда снижается уровень адреналина, поэтому она всегда наполняет эмоциями свои концертные выступления. И помимо этого, как настоящему Льву, ей нужны постоянные состязания. Однако, все имеет свой конец, Наталья взрослеет. Она начинает понимать, что все слишком легко ей дается и берет перерыв "Легко подняться наверх, но очень тяжело там остаться. Даже если я смогу это сделать, мне нужно остановиться и проанализировать все, что я сделала. В головокружении от собственного успеха, я могу не заметить, что я на самом деле падаю. Этот перерыв принес мне только пользу, я обдумала многие вещи и теперь готова к борьбе, потому что я ясно вижу свой путь". Начинается период экспериментов, Наталья и музыканты группы Тригон работают над новым альбомом в стиле джаз-фолк. Новым в этом проекте является и тот факт, что Наталья сама пишет тексты песен и музыку почти для всех песен, а над аранжировками серьезно работает вся команда. Каждый верит в этот проект. Наталья в течении какого-то времени вообще не выступает, работа в студии занимает все ее время и энергию. Проект не является коммерческим и поэтому он не достиг стадии профессиональных записей. Он остается в столе Натальи в качестве демо до лучших времен. Наталья подписывает трехлетний контракт с компанией Cat Music (Sony Music) из Бухареста. Она записала альбом и сняла клип на песню "Мой ангел". И это не все. В этом же году Наталья будет представлять Республику Молдова в конкурсе Евровидение 2007. Ожидания высоки, но надо напряженно работать и иметь достаточно энергии, чтобы справиться со все. Корзина планов на будущее полна и даже несмотря на то, что у Натальи уже много достижений она всегда говорит: "все еще впереди. Надо бороться!"

This is how main finalists have commented the result of preselection in interviews: - From all artists Natalia is the one who really deserved to take part in "Eurovision", - said Igor Dynga, producer of "Zdob Si Zdub", - She is really talented and has amazing voice. Though I think her song is too agressive, I hope they will soften it. - Now I have to work a lot: we have to start rehearsals to record final variant of the song. So this is all just a start, - commented Natalia Barbu. The name of Natalia Barbu, a young Moldovan singer, is well known not only in the Republic of Moldova but also in a number of other countries such as Germany, Romania and Ukraine. Natalia Barbu has been traveling all over Moldova. And wherever she sings – either in large concert halls or in small country clubs – she always brings a lot of happiness to her audience. Natalia is slim, red-haired, with slightly slanting eyes and has a beautiful smile. Her grateful spectators always present her flowers and give a storm of applause. It should be mentioned that the number of her admirers has been increasing on a constant basis. Most of her songs have become very popular; people listen to her songs and sing them with pleasure. “It is a great happiness for me that my songs are loved. I want this to last forever, because I can’t imagine my life without songs”, says Natalia. Natalia is winner of National Contest "Moldstar", prize winner of the international contests "Mamaia", "Slavyanskiy bazar" and "Maluri de Prut". She debuted on the stage 8 years ago as member of "Millenium" band. Since then she has issued 3 solo albums. Update: Zdob Si Zdub entry in case of their win will probably be disqualified or replaces, as it appeared that song "Space Cowboys" is using samples of song "Hora Cosmica", released on album "Agroromantica" in 2001. Moldavian version of "Space Cowboys" - "Nenea Gorbaciov Hora Cosmica" (remake of "Hora Cosmica"), was released in the latest album of the band "Ethnomechanica" in December 2006, and was publicly performed in Denmark in July 2006. TRM is yet to announce it's decision on the case. published 11.12 Yesterday, on 10th of December, submission period in Moldova had been closed. All in all TRM had received 35 entries, one of which was disqualified, thus jury will consider 34 potential entries. Most of the entries were brought to TRM during last hours of last day before the deadline. Representative of TRM has commented that participants are more prepared for the contest that in previous years. Even unknown to wide public performers have presented very quality entries. Among entrants are "Zdob si Zdub", Natalia Barbu, Cezara, Lou, "Pro Bahus", Olga Tira and others. Main style of the received songs is rock, in all variants, including alternative, hardcore and even thrash. TRM has published demos of all songs at it's website and unofficial internet poll also has been started, however official winner of the internal preselection will be named only by jury decision. Members of jury have already been chosen, though contracts have not been signed yet. Jury will involve producers, composers, performers, representatives of press and OGAE fan club. On 13th of December at general listening (CD, minus/plus, lyrics) jury will select maximum of 10 performers that will be invited for "live hearings" that will take place next day. From this songs jury will select winner of the competition. Voting will be held in presence of notary, who will officially certify the decision of jury. No broadcast of the internal selection is planned, it is possible that winning song will be presented in TRM show "Buna Seara" the day it will be selected. The question with Moldovan participation will be decided by December 14. It is very likely that Moldova will confirm it's participation in the contest. TRM is proposing to share the costs of participation in a new way: Teleradio Moldova takes all expences on entry fee, organization, logistics, promo-actions inside Moldova, filming of the video etc. Representatives of performer will have to take costs of promotional tours abroad, transportation, accomodation etc. If band finishes in TOP 10, TRM will most possibly compensate all expences of the band. According to organizers such an approach should stimulate the performers.	опубликовано 11.12 Вчера, 10 декабря, завершился прием заявок на участие в Евровидении 2007 от Молдовы. Основная масса заявок поступила в последние часы последнего дня сбора. Представитель телеканала ТРМ отметил, что исполнители гораздо лучше подготовлены к отбору, нежели в прошлые годы. Даже неизвестные широкой публики исполнители представили вполне достойные вещи. Среди исполнилей подавших заявки: "Zdob si Zdub", Natalia Barbu, Cezara, Lou, "Pro Bahus", Olga Tira и др. Основной стиль принятых заявок - рок во всех проявлениях, включая альтернатив, хардкор и даже трэш. На сайте ТРМ размещены демо всех представленых песен и дана возможность неофициального голосования (опроса общественного мнения), однако победитель внутреннего отбора будет определен решением жюри. Члены жюри уже определены - в него войдут продюсеры, композиторы, исполнители, представители прессы и фан-клуба. 13 декабря состоится общее прослушивание (СD, минус/плюс, текстовка) и голосование по бюлетеню. По итогам этого голосования отберут максимум 10 исполнителей, которых жюри прослушает "вживую" на следующий день. Из них и будет отобран победитель. Голосование пройдет в присутсвии нотариуса который официально засвидетельствует выбор жюри. Трансляция внутреннего отбора не запланирована, возможно победитель и его песня будут презентованы в шоу телеканала ТРМ "Buna Seara". До 14-го декабря будет решен вопрос об участии Молдовы в конкурсе Евровидение. В этом году ТРМ планирует несколько иное разделение затрат на участие в Евровидении. - "Телерадио Молдова" возьмет на себя все затраты на членские взносы, затраты по организации, логистику, промо-акции по Молдове, производство видеоклипа, и тд. На исполнителя ложатся затраты по организации промо-туров за рубежом, по проживанию, транспорту и тд своей группы. Если коллектив займет место в TOP 10, то скорее всего, ТРМ возмеcтит издержки исполнителя. По мнению организаторов такой оборот должен стимулировать артистов.

published 27.11 As ESCKaz reported inicially TRM was not going to participate in ESC his year, as Eurovision in Moldova is a project which requires state budget funds and an Organizational Committee is also set up by the Government of Moldova. As we've been informed, no funds for the participation have been provided yet. However, under the pressure of mass-media TRM, very closely to deadline, submitted the application for participation and also started accepted entries from interested performers/authors. Submission deadline was set on 10th of December. As we were informed no foreign entries will be accepted. Present concept of preselection - internal selection by jury (including music professionals and public figures), the broadcaster will try to ensure full transparency of selection. Official site of preselection will be launched in next couple of days. The question what will happen when the entrance fee for Moldova will be calculated though still remains open. The calculations are due to be send by EBU by the end of November. According to TRM a lot of will depend on finances, search for sponsors is running now, and good potential entry. We remind that all countries can withdraw without consequences till the certain date in December.	опубликовано 27.11 Как уже сообщал ESCKaz ТРМ первоначально не планировало принимать участия в конкурсе Евровидение этого года, поскольку все финансирование проекта Евровидение-Молдова осуществляется из бюджетных фондов и оргкомитет фестиваля также устанавливается правительством Молдовы. Как нам сообщили наши источники, до сих пор никаких средств на участие выделено не было. Лишь под давлением средств массовой информации ТРМ в самый последний момент подало предварительную заявку на участие и начало сбор заявок от заинтересованных исполнителей и авторов. Крайний срок подачи заявок установлен на 10 декабря. Как нам сообщили представители ТРМ, заявки будут приниматься только от граждан Молдовы. На данный момент концепция проведения – внутрений отбор составом жюри (поровну музыкальных и публичных деятелей). Вещатель берет на себя обязаность сделать процедуру отбора максимально прозрачной. Официальный сайт отбора будет запущен в ближайшие несколько дней. Однако, вопрос о том, что произойдет после того, как будет расчитан вступительный взнос для Молдовы по-прежнему остается открытым. Данные о размере взносов будут разосланы ЕВС до конца ноября. Согласно ТРМ многое будет зависеть от бюджета, в настоящее время идет поиск спонсоров, и потенциально хорошей конкурсной песни. Мы напоминаем, что все страны безо всяких последствий могут снять свои заявки до определенной даты в конце декабря.
