| Gulseren was born in Istanbul,
Turkey. Her parents moved to France when she was only seven. She had to face a new
country, a new language and a new culture but she's been living in Paris ever since. Music is Gulseren's vocation and passion. She's always been attracted to any kind of art, and studied classical music in Paris. She also studied at the INALCO (French university of oriental art, literature and culture) to gain a complete understanding of the country she comes without forgetting her roots. As she loves sharing, Gulseren teaches Turkish to children in Paris. She started to play the darbuka (Turkish drums) at a very young age, and she still plays on stage. A multi-talented artist, Gulseren is also a wonderful singer, musician, dancer and author. She has written most of the lyrics on her latest album. Gulseren is very professionally-minded. She loves concerts and being on stage more than anything else. For many years, she's been singing all over Europe, mostly in Turkey and in France. She met and worked with many famous artists such as Georges Moustaki, Michel Montanaro, Michel Garnier,... This has widened her experience and given her the chance to sing in many foreign languages like Turkish, French, Yugoslavian, Spanish, Arabic, Hebrew and Provenc,al (a local language in the south of France), etc. She still loves mixing languages in her show. For over two years (between 1997 and 1999), Gu"lseren sang every night at ‘Les Trois Mailletz’, the very famous French jazz and world music cabaret located in the heart of Paris (56 rue Galande - 75005 Paris). She still performs there on Friday and Saturday nights. (cf. concerts agenda). Gulseren has appeared on several albums (cf discography) but she had a dream: to record her own album. This dream came true in 2001. Now you can enjoy Gu"lseren's songs and listen that incredible voice wherever you want. Another milestone in Gu"lseren's life and career was the film ‘Roos and Rana’, the story of two young girls, one Turkish and the other Dutch, in which Gu"lseren starred. Sezen Aksu, the greatest Turkish singer of the past two decades, also auditioned for this part.  |

selected a Eurovision singer? - Hello Andy. Thank you. I feel very happy ! - How did you get the idea to participate in the Turkish preselection? - One day I had a phone call. Someone was asking me if I wanted to participate at the Turkish preselection. It was like a new opening door for me. - Was it difficult to win this time? Were you expecting that your song will be chosen by voters? - Yes, it was difficult. I strongly believed in the victory and I did my best and gave all my heart to win the preselections. - Are you usually following the Eurovision contest? What do you think about previous Turkish and French representatives? - Yes, I’ve been watching the ESC since many years with my family. Each time I watch Eurovision there are improvements with the songs and with the show. - What will be your aim in the contest? - TO WIN ! I want to win and I will do my best again to reach the highest place. - Do you think ethnic song in national language can do well with televoting? - Sure, why not ? - What are your preparations plans? - We are working together with my team : Ozan (arrangement), Murat (choregraphy), Canan (costume), Neriman (make up) - Will there be released French or some other language version of your entry? - Yes, in English, French and may be in Spanish too. - Will you be adding some changes into the arrangement? - Yes, with Ozan Colakoglu (he is the one who worked on Sertab Erener’s song, and Athena last year) - Are you planning some promotional tour? - We are working on it - Have you already been thinking about the idea of preview video, if there will be any? - We are working on it too - Will you be bringing changes to the stage presentation of the song? - Yes. Do you consider yourself as Turkish or French singer? - I consider myself as a Turkish singer as I sing mostly in my mother tongue, turkish. But I also feel fine singing in other languages as french, english, spanish, etc. - Have you already participated in singing competitions? - I did auditions but not singing competitions. - You are performing in different styles, what are your favourite ones? - My favourite is : salsa turca - Can you name us your favourite world singers? - My favourite are Jennifer Lopez and Tina Turner - Do you follow music industry of Turkey? What do you think of the current Turkish music? - Yes I do. I like very much. There are many interesting things in the current Turkish music. - Have you ever heard of the music contest Voice of Asia hold annually in Almaty, Kazakhstan? There were different Turkish singers participating like Semih Bairaktar, Burcu Gunes, Meltem Taskiran and others.
