Laura, a rising star in the Lithuanian pop music arena, is best described as a dynamic young woman with glowing eyes filled with passion and sexuality – all wrapped up in a veil of secrecy! Her charismatic voice is filled with a unique blend of European pop/rock mystique. Music has been Laura’s passion since childhood. Upon graduation from music school and after having trained her voice in an acapella group called JAZZLAND led by A. Novikas, Laura performed various different genres of music including classical and jazz. She also sang with several local rock groups. In 2001, when a world-famous German hard rock group The SCORPIONS held their concert in Vilnius, Laura was invited to sing as one of their background vocalists. Laura’s experience includes not only participating in various Lithuanian and international festivals and competitions but, she has also participated in some of the biggest European musical festivals, such as Roskilde (Denmark) and “Rock am Ring” (Germany). At these festivals she gained experience by observing world famous groups such as TRAVIS, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, METALLICA, CHEMICAL BROTHERS, PLACEBO keeping her eyes and ears focused on how these conducted their performances and dealt with their fans.

In the autumn of 2004, Laura‘s musical career took a sudden and sensational turn – after watching her progress over a fairly long period and evaluating her future prospects, Danielius Mironas, an executive at one of the most successful Record companies in Lithuania, “Koja Records”, signed a contract with her. Around the same time and quite by a coincidence Mironas received a sudden phone call from Stockholm. It was the legendary Swedish composer and Producer Mr William “Billy” Butt who, during the preceding year had helped develop the career of the very famous Lithuanian male artist “Amberlife” by providing the megahit song “In Your Eyes”. Billy Butt had , together with one of Sweden’s most successful songwriters Bobby Ljunggren, just written the song “Little by Little” and was looking for a Lithuanian artist to perform it at the national Eurovision Song Contest. Within a few days Laura and her Lithuanian Producer Justas Garliauskas found themselves onboard a flight to Stockholm where the song was recorded at the recording studios of Lionheart Records, owned and operated by Bobby Ljunggren. Danielius Mironas and Justas Garliauskas immediately saw to it that that their new young artist was put in the competent hands of these Swedish professionals who not only knew their business, but also have several years of experience in Eurovision Song Contests. Both Ljunggren and Butt have won the local national Eurovision Contests in Sweden.

“This is a new stage in my life. I have sung classical music, jazz and rock, and now I will try my strength at singing good quality pop music. The song written by the Swedish producers fits the bill perfectly! I believe that this excellent song should please our country‘s listeners,” - said Laura. The composers who wrote “Little by Little” and recorded it have showered compliments on Laura. “Billy and I are interested in the musical life of the countries of the Baltic region. After our success last year with Amberlife, we had the possibility to work with many Lithuanian performers but the voice of this beauty Laura, left an undeniable impression on us. The nuances in her voice are like the colours of the rainbow, sparkling with colourful tones and shades,” – said Bobby Ljunggren, who composed the music. “Laura has a definite unique star quality” said the lyricist Billy Butt who some years ago discovered and launched the career of one of Sweden’s most famous and popular female artists, Lisa Nilsson.

18-19 апреля в рамках проведения взаимных промо-туров между странами-участницами международного конкурса “Евровидение-2005” Белтелерадиокомпанию посетила группа “Laura and The Lovers”, представляющая на песенном форуме Литву. На “Евровидении” литовцы исполнят песню “Little by Little” (“Шаг за шагом”).
Солистка группы, обладающая редким выразительным “джазовым” вокалом, яркой незаурядной внешностью и особым таинственным шармом – певица Лаура, и ее “Влюбленные” (а именно так переводится название группы) – профессиональные музыканты с богатым опытом работы в различных жанрах – от классики и джаза до рока, играющие вместе вот уже 6 лет.
Песню “Little by Little” для них написали шведские продюсеры Бобби Лунггрен и Вильям “Билли” Батт. “В песне рассказывается о том, как постепенно, шаг за шагом, я раскрываю свое чувство и иду навстречу своей любви”, - сказала Лаура.
На встрече с журналистами, организованной пресс-службой Белтелерадиокомпании, литовские музыканты представили видеоклип на свою конкурсную песню. Примечательно, что белорусы увидели клип практически вторыми в Европе, поскольку нашу страну в ходе промо-тура литовские участники “Евровидения” посетили второй после своей ближайшей соседки – Латвии.
Как подчеркнул продюсер группы Лаурас Люциунас, участие, и, конечно же, победа, на конкурсе привлекает огромное число журналистов, увеличивается интерес к стране, поэтому главная цель “Laura and The Lovers” -популяризация Литвы.

On April 18-19 within the frameworks of mutual promotional tours between countries-participants of “Eurovision-2005” “Laura and The Lovers” band from Lithuania visited Belteleradiocompany. The band will perform “Little by Little” song at “Eurovision”.

The soloist of the band - Laura has very expressive “jazz” vocal and mysterious charm. The band has good experience of working in different styles including jazz and rock. They are together 6 years. Swedish producers Bobby Ljunggren and William Butt wrote “Little by Little” for them. “The song is about how I gradually, step by step, open up my feeling and walk towards my love,” says Laura.

During the meeting with media representatives organized by Belteleradiocompany’s press service Lithuanian musicians presented video for the contest song.

Producer of the band Lauras Luciunas noted that participation and, of course, victory at the contest attracts a lot of reporters and the interest towards the country growth, this way the main goal of the band is promotion of Lithuania.

Lithuanian guests noted that participation in the promotional tour is not only a good opportunity to present themselves and the nation but it also stirs up friendly relations between Belarus and Lithuania. The musicians expressed gratitude for hospitability and hope for future cooperation not only within the frameworks of “Eurovision”.

“Laura and The Lovers” gave a number of interviews, took part in several radio shows.

They were impressed by the Victory Plaza and the building of the National Library that is under construction now.

- Hello, dear Laura, and our congratulations for you winning Lithuanian national final. How do you feel now, being selected a Eurovision singer?
- I am very happy and proud to represent my great country Lithuania. It is a big honour for me.

- How did you get the idea to participate in the Lithuanian preselection this year?
- I was chosen by my producers in Lithuania and Sweden. It was a joint decision. They liked me and I liked the song.

- Were you making attempts in previous years to submit entry to Lithuanian preselection or it is your first Eurovision attempt?
- I have participated in the national finals. Last year I performed with my band Relanium.

- Was it difficult to win this time? Were you expecting that your song will be chosen by voters and jurymembers?
- I was chosen by the Tv voters of Lithuania. Of course it is difficult to win because there are so many other good artists and songs. I was lucky that the Tv viewers liked me and my song.

- How can you judge other songs at the national preselection? Did you like any of them? What were your closes rivals on your opinion?
- There were many good songs - I liked... For example Eva and Ceslovas Gabalis entry. One of my closest rival was Alanas Chosnau.

- Are you usually following the Eurovision contest? What do you think about previous Lithiuanian representatives? Why do you think Lithuanian attempts were not very successful?
- Of course, as I singer I follow the Eurovision every year. It is difficult to say why Lithuania has not been successful up to now. This is a question which only can be answered by the previous voters and jurys who have chosen the previous songs.

- What will be your aim in the contest, are you looking for a win?
- OF COURSE! This is a competetion and competitions are for winning - but at the same time I believe that it is very difficult to compete in Music because there are so many different types of music tastes.

- How can you describe your song in one sentence?
- A midtempo pop-rock song with a very catchy refrain, about the resolvement of love between a couple who are "little by little" starting to communicate.

- What as do you think can make your song different from the other competitors?
- I cannot give a correct answer to this question until I am in Kiev and have seen all the other performances. I can only say that the team around me has produced a spectacular show which hopefully will stick out.

- Have you already heard other participating songs and what is your opinion on them?
- The ones I have heard so far are good. It will be a tough competition for everyone.

- What are your preparations plans? Are you planning some promotional tour?
- Right now I am touring in some Eastern European Countries. I will be appearing on UK TV (ITVs "Angela Rippon Morning Show" on 1st May in London.

- Are you planning to record song is some other languages or may be some remixes?
-There are already three remixes to this song. There are no plans at this moment to record it in any other languages.

- Will you be adding some changes into the arrangement?
- No. The arrangement of the song has been made by my Swedish producers and it is perfect.

- Have you already shot the video for it? Can you tell us more about it if you did?
- Yes the video clip was shot a few weeks ago. It has just been edited and will be broadcasted on Lithuanian Television this week end. It will be spread all over Europe within the next week or so.

- Will you be bringing changes to the stage presentation of the song or will it be similar to the one in national final?
- It is MUCH DIFFERENT! The choreography has been done by one of the best Choreographers from Sweden, Mr Roine Soderlundh, and my styling for the Kiev final has been done by the swedish stylist Magnus Flobecker who styles the famous Swedish group Alcazar and many others. I can promise a spectacular show in Kiev!

- Who are The Lovers? Is it your first time working with this backing singers/dancers or you have already worked together?
- The lovers are my best friends. We have performed previously as the band Relanium. It was our Swedish Producer Billy Butt who decided to call us "Laura and the Lovers". The Lovers are great guys and very competent musicians. The background singers are two of Sweden's best background vocalists Sonja Alden and Caroline Jonsson.

- Let's speak on your career. Have you already participated in international singing competitions or at local level?
- I have participated in contests before and I have gained a lot of experience in other countries. I have also been a background vocalists for the German group Scorpions during their Lithuanian tour.

- Have you already issued any releases and are you planning new ones?
- The first release as "Laura and the Lovers" will be "Little by Little"

- Will you continue cooperation with Swedish authors, are you looking to Swedish market?
- Yes of course I would like to continure working with my Swedish authors and producers. The Scandinavian market is a big one and they are well connected there so it would be great if we can make a success there.

- You are performing in different styles, what are your favourite ones?
- I am a lover of jazz and rock... Different styles, the style itself is not that important, the song should be good - that matters.

- Do you follow music industry of Lithuania? Do you think it is close to European level?
- Yes I follow it and I believe it is well on the way to catching up with the Western European level. We have many great artists and songwriters in Lithuiania. They just need to be discovered and given the chance to show what they can do.'

- Среднетемповый поп-рок с очень запоминающимся припевом, о любовных намерениях между парой, которая начинает "по немногу" понимать друг друга.

- Чем, как вы думаете, вы можете выделиться на фоне остальных конкурсантов?
- Я пока не могу точно ответить на этот вопрос, пока я не увижу остальные выступления. Я могу только сказать, что моя команда уже создала особенное шоу, которое, как мы надеемся, запомнится.

- Вы уже слушали другие конкурсные песни? Что вы о них думаете?
- Да, несколько, и они мне понравились. Думаю это будет напряженное состязание.

- Каковы ваши планы подготовки? Вы планируете промо-тур?
- Да, как раз сейчас я езжу по нескольким восточно европейским странам. Я буду участвовать в шоу телеканала ITV "Angela Rippon Morning Show" 1 мая в Лондоне.

- Нет, ОНА БУДЕТ ОЧЕНЬ ОТЛИЧАТЬСЯ! Хореографию нам ставит один из лучших хореографов Швеции, Ройне Седерлунд и стилист Магнус Флобекер, который работал со знаменитой группой Альказар и многими другими. Я могу обещать вам очень впечатляющее шоу в Киеве!

- Кто такие "Любовники"? Это первый раз, когда вы работаете с ними или вы уже работали вместе?
- Это мои лучшие друзья. Мы раньше выступали под названием Реланиум, но шведский продюсер Билли Батт решил назвать нас "Лаура и любовники". Они очень хорошие ребята, и профессиональные музыканты. Моими бэк-вокалистками будут две самые профессиональные бэк-вокалистки Швеции Соня Альден и Каролин Йонссон.

- Давайте немного поговорим о вашей карьере. Вы участвовали в международных песенных соревнованиях или на местном уровне?
- Я участвовала в множестве конкурсов и получила там большой опыт. Я также была бэк-вокалисткой группы Скорпионс во время их тура по Литве.
