Donna and Joseph McCaul are from the town of Athlone in Co. Westmeath. In the centre of Ireland.

The young Irish brother and sister duo won the hearts of the Irish public during the television talent search on RTE' Television, called ‘You're A Star’.

Their harmonies impressed the judges and the Irish nation so much that they topped the poll almost every week.

Donna (20) is a full-time singer with The Doc Carroll Band and her ambition is to duet with Shania Twain. She enjoys learning about music and playing hockey.

Her younger brother Joe (17) was a full-time school student. However, due to the rehearsal schedule for the Eurovision, he has taken a year off. He is a fan of Paddy Casey, Maroon 5 and Liverpool football club.

Both Donna and Joseph live at home with their mother Helen. They come from a family of four boys and two girls: Patrick, Gerard, Kenneth, Donna, Catherine and Joseph.

- Hello, dear Donna and Joe, and our congratulations for winning Irish national final. How do you feel now, being selected a Eurovision singers?
- Absolutely delighted!

- How you got an idea to participate in You're A Star competition? Who was first to suggest it?
- We both saw the ads for You're A Star and decided to give it a go, we had participated in other singing competitions over the years so we thought we would just try the 'big one'

- What was the first time during the show when you've started to believe that you can finish as overall winners?
- On the second last night when we were down to the final two acts left in the competition.

- Whom you considered as your main rival in the competition?
- The Henry Girls even though they did not make it into the final night.

- What do you think was the best performance you've made during the show?
- On that second last night, we sang 'Dance with my father again' and we really enjoyed the response.

- What was your first reaction when you heard "Love?"? Do you think this song fits your original style?
- We really liked the song and with a some tweaking around from the musical director, it was made to fit our style and the key we usually sing in.

- How can you describe your song in one sentence?
- Our song is very upbeat and is just about the rollercoaster emotions that come with love.

- There were news about new arrangement of the song you're preparing - some mix of Irish dance and hip-hop. Is it so, and who was behind this idea to bring some changes?
- Our choreographer Daryn devised a dance for our song - we call it 'hip-ceili' as it is a bit hip hop with some traditional Irish dance steps thrown in.

- Your single release feature first version of the song only, will there be additional versions or remixes?
- Our single features only one version of the song. It also features a song sung by all the finalists of You're A Star

- Is it already decided who will accompany you on stage in Kiev? Will it be same persons that you sang with during YaS final?
- We danced with different dancers during the You're A Star, in Kyiv it will be four female dancers who do backing vocals too.

- Can you reveal some secrets about your stage performance? You are preparing totally different show or there will be similarities with YaS final performance?
- Our lips are sealed but we can say that there will be some similarities.

- Are there any plans to shoot the video for a song?
- No there are no plans to shoot a video, In Ireland we don't have any shows that show pop-videos anymore.

- What is your preparation schedule? Are you making promo tours to other countries?
- We have been rehearsing our stage performance a lot since we finished YAS. Then we also did a short promo tour to Zagreb in Croatia and to Sarajevo in Bosnia Herzegovina. We really enjoyed it and the people were so kind to us over there.

- What will be your aim in the contest, are you looking for win?
- Obviously we would love to win.

- What as do you think can make your song stand different from the other competitors?
- As far as we are aware we are the first ever brother and sister to sing together in the Eurovision, maybe some of your readers will verify this for us.

- Have you already heard other participating songs in ESC 2005 and what is your opinion on them?
- We have heard a good few and the standard is very high, we have some favourites but we would not like to say which.

- With what Eurovision singers from the past you can compare your duet and your song?
- We can't really compare this to any other Irish song that went before us.

- Let's speak on your career. Was You're A Star your first public competition, have you performed publicly before?
- Both of us used to sing in the National community games but never together. And Donna won the Teen Popstars competition in Athlone - Joseph was really jealous!

- How you decided to join into the duet? Is it difficult for you to sing together? Are you planning to work as duet after Eurovision too?
- It was suggested to us to sing together, so we tried it and we were surprised how easy it was. We hope to duet after the Eurovision too.

- You tried to perform in different styles during the show, what are your favourite ones?
- We enjoy both Ballads and Up-tempo songs.

- What are your other plans this year?
- To work on an album.

- Have you already started working on it?
- To be honest we have been so busy that we havent started working on it yet.

- Can you name us your favourite world singers?
- Shania Twain, Bryan Adams and Mario.

- And our usual question usually asked by our visitors - can you name us any singers you know coming from ex-USSR, Russia, Ukraine?
- Well who could forget Tatu ! But we also know of Ruslana and Alsou.

- Наша песня очень быстротемповая и она о тех эмоциях, схожих с американским горками, которые приходят с любовью.

- Мы слышали новости о том, что вы готовите новую аранжировку вашей песне - смесь ирландского танца с хип-хопом, так ли это, и кто решил внести такие изменения?
- Наш хореограф Дарин разработал танец под нашу песню - мы называем его "hip-ceili" потому что это смесь хип-хопа с традиционным ирландским танцем.

- Ваш сингл включает только основную версию песни, не планируете ли вы ремиксов?
- Наш сингл включает только одну версию песни и включает еще в себя песню, исполняемую всеми финалистами шоу "Ты-звезда".

Despite of not the perfect result of Ireland in Eurovision 2004 performer from this country is once again selected via televized project "You're a star", one of the most successful projects of Irish TV during last years.
Concept however was slightly changed, and first of all new Jury was lined up including Dave Fanning - popular radio host, Hazel Kaneswaran - famous singer and Barbara Galavan - music producer.

First stage was as usually made of regional heats, where jury selected up to 10 performers, all of which joined special academy where 10 finalists were selected. Wildcards remained this year, but they were selected by viewers, not by jury.

36 performers entered the academy (Joe Kiernan withdrew because of illness). After a week list of 10 finalists was announced followed by the list of wildcard candidates. Dave's Radio band was originally included into finalists but later withdrew, and after changing their mind took part in wildcards heat.
