что подтверждает постепенное снижение интереса
к участию в нем. В этом году впервые изменено правило языка исполнения, теперь исполнители могут петь на отборе на любом языке, а не только на датском, как в прошлые годы. Финал намечен на 12 февраля. 263 entries were received for the 2005 Melodi Grand Prix, which again confirmed decline in interest towards it. This year also brought change into performance language rule, which now allowes entry to be performed in any language, not only in Danish. Final will be held on February, 12th |

| Jacob Sveistrup is not a
professional singer. He is a school teacher and works in a special school for children
with autistic spectrum disorder. But the children will have to wait before they are taught
by their favourite teacher again – after winning the Danish National Song Contest, Jacob
has had to take a leave of absence from school to satisfy all the Danes that would like to
see him perform. Jacob Sveistrup lives and works in Odense. He became known by the Danes when he participated in ‘Star for a Night’ on DR TV in 2003. He nearly went all the way but was beaten in the final. At the Danish National Song Contest, however, nobody beat Jacob who performed ‘Talking to You’ with enthusiasm and great energy. ‘Talking to You’ is composed by Jacob Launbjerg and Andreas Morck, two experienced songwriters, who earn a living by writing for various artists including the Danish group Zee U and the former Norwegian Song Contest singer Haldor Laegreid. Jacob Launbjerg has some previous experience from the Danish National Song Contest – he has written songs and sung at several Danish National Song Contests. For several years he was a regular member of the Danish National Song Contest backing vocal group. Jacob Launbjerg and Andreas Morck didn’t know Jacob Sveistrup when they composed the song – he was recommended to them. But when they heard him sing, there was no doubt in their minds that Jacob was the one. The Danish viewers had no doubts either when they heard Jacob perform. They voted for him to represent Denmark in Kiev, where he will perform in front of the whole of Europe.  images - official press-service |

| - Hello, dear Jacob, and our
congratulations for you winning Danish national final. How do you feel now, being selected
a Eurovision singer? - I feel GREAT!! It is a privilege to be able the participate on behalf of my country. - How did you get the idea to participate in the Danish preselection this year? - I actually didn't. The composers contacted me, as they where in need of a male vocalist. I told them that I'd like to hear the song first before deciding. Having done so, it was not difficult for me to accept. Looking back now, I'm very glad I did. - Were you making attempts in previous years to submit entry to Danish preselection or it is your first Eurovision attempt? - Yes, I actually tried last year, but without success. - Was it difficult to win this time? Were you expecting that your song will be chosen by voters? - Of course it was difficult. I weren't expecting anything. I was in it for the ride, so when in the end I was the one winning, it was an incredible, unbelievable experience to me. - How can you judge other songs at the national preselection? Did you like any of them? - I liked a lot of them, and it was also therefore impossible for me to imagine that I could beat any of them. - Are you usually following the Eurovision contest? What do you think about previous Danish representatives? Why do you think all Danish attempts after 2002 were unsuccessful? - The Danish contest has changed a lot over the years. To begin with (when I was a teenager), I wasn't actually fond of it. But in the last decade, the music has gained much towards the kind of music, that you hear on the radio every day, and since the Olsen Bthrs. made it al the way, it has become an accepted institution in the Danish music-industry. When it comes to my opinion of the earlier representatives, I still don't understand why we haven't excelled. So I can't answer your question as to why we were unsuccessful, only say that I am confident that this year will prove to be a better one. - What will be your aim in the contest, are you looking for win? - My first and for now, only aim is to get through the first qualifying round. When that's done we'll set us some new goals. - What as do you think can make your song different from the other competitors? - I don't know. It is very difficult to say, simply because I haven't heard them yet. But I do believe, that our song has got a few possible aces up our sleeves, that will appeal to al lot of the European audience. - What are your preparations plans? - Secret! - Are you planning to perform song in Danish or in English? Don't you think that Danish songs are loosing a bit of charm being converted into English? - Yes, to be honest, I do. But I also find that it is an unavoidable fact, that if we are to get through to as many people as possible, it has to be in a language that they can understand. - If you have more information on English version, title, release date, can you please tell us? - Nope!! That's also a secret! - Will you be adding some changes into the arrangement? - No, not any decisive ones. If anything, it will not change the overall impression of the song. - Are you planning some promotional tour? - Yes I'm touring Denmark in the coming months. I'm pretty new in this business, so I have got to get my name engraved into every countryman's forehead, so they don't forget me to soon. I'd like to be in it for good! - Have you already been thinking about the idea of preview video, if there will be any? - Sorry. Secret! - Will you be bringing changes to the stage presentation of the song or will it be similar to the one in natioonal final? - That is definitely a big part of our preparations. - Who will be your backing singers/dancers in Kiev? - Secret! - Let's speak on your career. Have you already participated in international singing competitions or only at local level? - Yes and no. I have been competed in the Danish version of "Star for a night". - Do you have any releases? - Not solo. But that will come very soon. - You are performing in different styles, what are your favourite ones? - I honestly don't know. - Can you name us your favourite world singers? - The one above them all: Stevie Wonder - Do you follow music industry of Denmark? Ожидали ли вы, что вышу песню выберут телезрители? - Конечно это было нелегко. Я и не ожидал ничего другого. Я участвовал прежде всего ради самого участия. Когда оказалось, что я победил, для меня это было абсолютно сногсшибающе, нереально. - Как вы можете оценить другие песни с национального отбора? - Мне многие понравились, и поэтому я даже представить не мог, что мне удастся победить их всех. - Вы следите обычно за конкурсом Евровидение? Что вы думаете о последних датских выступлениях? Почему на ваш взгляд все участия с 2002 года были неудачны? - Датский конкурс очень сильно изменился за последние годы. Когда я был подростком, он меня не особо увлекал, но за последние годы появилась тенденция приближения к радио-стилю, то что обычно крутится, и с победой братьев Олсен, он стал общеизвестным институтом в датской музыкальной индустрии. Что же касается бывших участников, то я и сам не понимаю, почему они не преуспели. Не думаете ли вы, что датские песни теряют чуточку шарма будучи переведенными на английский? - Если честно, то да.
