| Marissa Grasdijk was born on 19/11/1993. She lives with her
parents, brother and sister in Kampen, a small town in the Netherlands. She is sweet and
cheerful and always willing to help other people with anything. Marissa loves to sing and she sings everywhere she goes. But singing isn't the only thing she likes to do. She also plays the guitar and the piano. And if that isn't enough she loves to dance and play korfball and basketball. Marissa is a huge junior song contest fan for as long as she knows. She believed it was amazing to see al these kids sing and dance on stage. That was something she also wanted to do very much. It inspired her to write her own songs herself when she was 11 years old. When she was 11 she started to write own songs while playing the guitar. Last year she was 13 she submitted song "Rust Zacht", however she was asked to replace the lyrics as they were considered to be too sad and in 3 days she did new text "Ik zal wachten op jou" (I Will Wait For You). She passed through two rounds and was eliminated in Workshops round. But she was not sad and immediately wrote a new song "Ga maar lekker slapen", which was sort of lullaby and submitted it as well. And once she was called back and asked whether she has a new song ready and she had "1 dag is te kort" (1 day is too short) and she very quickly finished it and sent. And this time she succeeded! 1 dag is a song that she wrote about herself. The song tells how she wants to do so much in so little time. And actually that's the story of her life. She can't sit still and wants to do everything in the same time and that's why one day is too short for her. Marissa has a big dream and thats's to be a famous singer. "Yes, I am very seriously involved with music and really want to achieve something. Ideally I will be known in the Netherlands and if possible beyond", says Marissa. But as a typical Dutch girl she knows very well that it is a tough business and if it doesn't work out with her singing, she wants to be a police officer. In The Netherlands she is often compared to Beyonce, Marissa's favourite singer, however she always replies "I don't want to imitate anyone, I just want remain myself". | - Hi, Marissa, and first of all our congratulations for
the victory at the Dutch national selection! What were your first thoughts when you
realized you are the winner of the competition? - Hi, thank you! Well I was surprised and I couldn’t believe It first. I had to hear my name a few times and then I started to realize that I was the winner! It was the greatest feeling I ever had in my life. - Please introduce yourself in one sentence? - I am Marissa, I’m 14 years old and I will represent the Netherlands at the Junior Eurovision song contest 2008. - Сan you tell us about the story of the song creation? What your song is about? - My song is about me as a little girl. In that time I realized I wanted to sing, dance, play the piano, play the guitar, play tennis, play basketball, everything! But one day is 24 hours, its way to short for me, I’m busy all the time! And that’s where my song is about. - How will you visually present your entry on stage? Will it be similar performance as during Dutch national final, or is there plan to add any visual effects for the international audience to understand better your song? - I don’t know yet actually. If the choreographs come up with good ideas than it is ok. But I like the way I am performing my song. Simple and straight forwarded, but there is always room for improvement. - What is your plan of preparations for the contest? Is it difficult for you to prepare for the contest and at the same study in school? - Well, school is a little bit hard now but I can handle it.The most important is to learn how to plan my activities. Than I just have to concentrate and stay calm. That works always the best for me, also when I’m on stage! - Can you introduce the team working with you: the vocal coach, choreographer, costume designer, backing vocalists? - My vocal coach is Babette Labeij. She is the best vocal coach in the Netherlands. I went to Lucia Marthas danceacademy to prepare my act. I have two personal stylists from Stylistics who will take care of my clothing. And i also have a team with me from the Avro who will take care of me on Cyprus. Anja, Jasper and Khirstine. They guided me and the other contesters for the whole year so we are very close and its nice to have them around. - Are you going to take advice from previous Dutch JESC entrants? - Yes definitely, they inspired me every year, I looked up to them and wanted to achieve the same, to be as good as them, or try to be even better. That will be very hard but I will do my best. - You’re said to be big fan of Junior Eurovision, what does attract you in this contest? - I always liked it to write and compose my own songs. The Junior Eurovision song contest is a nice way to let people hear and see what I love to do most. - What is your aim for the competition? Are you going to win it, or simply have good time and make new friends? - First I’m very happy and proud to represent the Netherlands. The most important thing for me is just to have fun and enjoy this great contest! The last year we saw that the points where given to neighboring countries. So I know it will be very difficult to win this contest. Also the competition is very good. Good singers and nice songs. But I will try to show the other countries that we can write and perform also nice songs and I really hope they will like my song. - Have you chance to listen to the entries from other countries in Junior Eurovision 2008? - Yes I’ve listened to the songs on the internet! - Can you tell us, how looks your basic day? What activities do you usually have? How do you spend free time? - I usually get up around 7 o’clock for school. After school I take a short time to relax. Most in that time I’m playing the guitar or the piano or watch a bit TV. In the evening I have a busy schedule. My homework, singing classes, guitar classes, piano classes, sport or singing in a band and performing of course are filling my evenings. - What are your plans after the contest? Do you want to become professional singer in future? - Yes that’s my dream. I want to write, compose and sing my own songs. Nothing gives me a better feeling then performing my songs and to hopefully see that people like my songs. - Anything else you want to tell to the readers of this interview? - I feel myself very lucky that I have the opportunity to represent Netherlands in Cyprus. My dream for 2008 has become a reality. Now I can't wait to perform and sing my song for Europe. I hope everybody is enjoying the show as much as I will do. Это всегда помогает мне, особенно, когда я на сцене! - Можешь представить свою команду: педагога по вокалу, хореографа, костюмера, бэк-вокалистов? - Мой педагог по вокалу это Бабетта Лабей. Она - самый лучший преподаватель вокала во всей Голландии. Я занималась в танцевальной академии Люсии Мартас, чтобы подготовить свой номер. Ты хочешь стать профессиональной певицей в будущем? - Да, это моя мечта. Я хочу сочинять и петь свои песни. Ничто не дает мне лучшего ощущения, чем исполнение собственных песен и я надеюсь, что людям они тоже понравятся. - Хочешь ли добавить что-то еще для читателей этого интервью? - Я чувствую себя очень удачливой, что мне выпала такая возможность, представлять Нидерланды на Кипре.  05/11 Marissa Grasdijk, Dutch Junior Eurovision
representative was hurt yesterday in a car accident. As reported by Telegraph, 14-years
old Marissa and her 17-year-old sister Danita have been returning back home from a singing
lessons on a scooter, when it collided with a car. Car driver claimed that he hasn't seen
the scooter, which was heavily damaged. Both girls were moved to ambulance, but could
return home same evening. In hospital, Marissa's left leg was put in plaster, and it was discovered that Danita broke her collarbone. However, Marissa's participation in the Junior Eurovision, on November 22 in Cyprus, is not endangered. On Monday plaster may be already removed. "I was very scared as I thought first I may had broke my leg", told young singer. "But even if it happened I would have gone to Junior Eurovision in a wheel chair", she bravely told. has made public extracts of the 10 songs that will take part in the national selection,
you can listen to them here.The official CD album with 10 songs and the joint song Ojee Ojee will be on sale from mid-September. On 6 and 13 september Netherlands 3 will broadcast a report of the auditions and workshops (watch here) The semi finals will be held on 20 and 27th of September. The Final is scheduled for Saturday, October 4. Tickets are available through www.ticketpoint.nl. Tickets cost € 15 for the semi-finals and € 17.50 for the final. Singers Hind, Gordon will join Curt Fortin in a jury panel. |

broadcaster AVRO has received around 1000 submissions to take part in Junior Eurovision
Song Contest. 73 candidates have been selected to attend live auditions which will take
place on 28th and 29th of April in Rhenen. On 30th of April videos from auditions will be
put online, so viewers till 5th of May will be able to vote to select wildcards, added to
those selected by expert jury. The complete

| The Netherlands is the next country to launch national Junior Eurovision preselection 2008. The deadline for entrance has been set on 9th of April. It is possible to submit songs on CD, DVD and online. Music should not be necessary completed, song can be sang acapella without any instruments - it is the melody and lyrics that matter.
