| With
it's balanced base of Romanian and Cuban members Mandinga represents excellency in
cultural confluences in a show without frontiers. In 7 years, Mandinga maintained its
unchallengeable position as best latino band from Romania. Called La Orquesta de Salsa, currently Mandinga brings together 10
multivalent artists, with an excellent live prestation. Music Mandinga already surpassed
the country's borders - Mandinga has its own international festival Salsafest, have
performed in Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Cuba, sharing the stage with the most
important names in latino music: Buena Vista Social Club, Manolito Simonet y Su Trabucco,
Arturo Sandoval, Bamboleo, Rafaga, Havana Lounge, Billy Cobham, Luis Conte. Group has 4 albums releazed: De corazon - 2003, My sun -
2005, Gozalo! - 2006, Donde - 2008. Latest single of the band was Europarty, which was
followed by a tour across Europe. Zaleilah was released in early September, 2011 as the lead single off the upcoming studio album. The band premiered the song live at the 2011 Romanian Music Awards on September 16. It was performed at a New Year's Eve event at Romexpo and live during the X Factor finale, the day after. The band shot a music video for the song in Dubai, United Arab Emirates in early 2012, which premierred in February. Zaleilah single includes Radio Edit, Short Radio version (ESC) and Quentin mix. |

 Elena (Helen) She is the lead singer of Mandinga. Helen’s career began when she was only six years of age. After succeeding in a vast number of singing contests and festivals she heard that Mandinga was looking for a new singer. Six years ago she showed up for the auditions. Out of 518 girls who were there she was the only one that managed to convince the band that she has what it takes. On stage, Helen is mesmerising, off stage she can always find a way to make you smile. In her spare time you will most probably find her singing around the house, watching movies or enjoying live concerts on DVD.  Alex Alex is one of the original members of the band. He plays the trumpet and the flute. Besides music, one other great passion of his is making movies. That is why he is now a student of the film school in Bucharest. His passions have a way of working together and that is because Alex is the proud owner of his own recording studio. One of his dreams is making a movie soundtrack. On holidays and when time allows, Alex loves to go kite surfing or on trips to new exotic places. Sometimes he might take his newly bought motorcycle for a ride.  Chupi Another of the founding members of Mandinga is Chupi. He plays drums and other percussion instruments and he is great at every one of them. His passion for rhythm started at a young age, and his skills made him a very important member of each and every project that he was part of so far. His favourite genres of music are anything played in South America and Jazz. Chupi loves sports and sportswear. It is probably one of the reasons why he is always joyful and always telling jokes. He also likes to talk to Mandinga’s fans on Facebook. |
 Zach Zach’s passion for making music began when he was a child and his parents gave him his first saxophone. He has never let it go since. The sax is his favourite instrument and therefore he makes time everyday to enhance his playing techniques. Zach loves to play live and improvise. He always has good advice for young musicians who are just starting to play. Zach says that if he wouldn’t have become a musician, he would have loved to be a pilot. His dreams include meeting Robert de Niro and going on a cruise on the Atlantic Ocean.  El Nino El Nino plays the timbales and congas for Mandinga. His father is also a musician and that is where he inherits his talent from. Coming from Havana, Cuba, he left the band called Los Angeles de la Havana to join Mandinga. Omar was part of this process as well. It was four years ago when El Nino moved to Romania. He loves this country because of the people. He says it will always be a pleasure for him to play for the Romanian people. El Nino’s hair is a gift from Mother Nature. Somehow, it manages to keep its shape even when wet. When he isn’t producing or listening to Latino music, Nino loves to turn up the speakers for some R&B music.  Omar Omar is also born in Havana, Cuba. He and Niсo are friends from back home. Omar plays piano and keyboards for Mandinga. His passion for “el piano” knows no limits. He loves to play it, and he is extremely good at it. Before joining Mandinga in 2008, Omar would take part in all sorts of jazz contests in Cuba from which he would most often come out as the winner. Omar loves the food in Romania and he would like to have Mariah Carey over for dinner. Although on stage he just bursts with energy, when he is among his best friends Omar is calm and laidback. |

| ESCKAZ has briefly chatted with Mandinga during Eurovision in
Concert event in Amsterdam. "Eurovision is the most important event yet for Mandinga. To represent Romania at Eurovision is an honor for us and hope to make all Romanians proud of us", says Elena, lead singer of the group. "We wanted to do a song, very positive song, that everybody can dance", say Mandinga members, adding that "Even before the preselection it became a big hit in Romania, so we have booked a lot of concerts there and currently are touring in the country". "Our strengths are experience on stage, singing live experience, a very well done show and we have a very positive song. I hope the voting public feel these things". As per duing "Zaleilah" in other languages Elena responds: "Zaleilah" was very useful in the form in which we launched it. I see no reason to change something. However we will be doing songs in Romanian the future. Band will have to make some changes for Eurovison, and Chupi, drummer of the band, will play bagpipe, while trumpet player Alex will take his place on drums. Band will also have to leave one member, trombonist Tony, out of the stage performance: "But he will go with us to Baku and will watch the contest in greenroom". "There are big changes in choreography. We're now working with Anze Skrube, who worked with Jennifer Lopez, Justin Timberlake and Chris Brown. We also have some graphic elements and probably fireworks" "The promotional tour has started last week. So far we
have confirmed concerts in The Netherland and Belgium and a few that are in discussion.
Meanwhile, we use all possible promotion resourses. Besides our music video, which was
filmed in Romania and Dubai we shot a multilingual call to the public mind to vote for
Romania and just finished filming a flashmob" |

With three days before departure to Baku, band Mandinga and TVR had arranged meeting with
press and fans which was hosted by Constantin Trofin. "We are proud to represent
Romania at Eurovision, we focus on the show and will do everything we can to make you
happy," said Elena, singer of Mandinga, during the meeting. Designer Maria Lucia Hohan has worked on dress of Elena for the show, while Florin Dobre is responsible for outfits of male members of the band. Alexandru Ghildus and Costel Chitea, professors of design at University of Arts in Bucharest, have redesigned instruments of Mandinga. As earlier revealed Slovenian Anze Skrube is behind choreography of the band. Cat Music record label representative Dan Popi and Sergiu Stoiadin, manager of Mandinga has indicated that the band's entry has entered radio rotation around the world, and requests for interviews come in dozens every day. Costi Ionita, hit songwriter, said that "Zaleilah" was created following a specific recipe of successful songs, he wasn't having Eurovision in mind working on it, but now due to positive reactions from around the world he believes that Mandinga will make Romanians proud. Thursday's event was recorded and will be broadcasted on TVR1 on Monday, May 21st at 23.00. Like every year, Romanian Television will broadcast all shows live on TVR 1, TVR HD and TVR International. |

| 20/04 Mandinga dance goes on streets of old center of Bucharest. Yesterday, Romanian band Mandinga have run dancing flash mob on their Eurovision tune Zaleilah. More than hundred dancers have joined them in the dance on Stavropoleos Street, as well as fans and TV crew. Dance has been choreographed by Anze Skrube, famous dancer, winner of many international dance competitions and choreographer working with many international stars (including J Lo, Christ Brown or Justin Timberlake). "We run a casting and we had chosen different types of dancers. Yesterday we've held the rehearsal, and today we're here on the set", said Skrube to Kiss FM. Skrube now is preparing Mandinga for the international final and the band has 3-hours long rehearsals each day. | Танец Мандинги вышел на улицы старого центра Бухареста. | Last Saturday, Slovenian dancer and choreographer Anze Skrube, founder of Maestro Crew, has arrived to Romania. Skrube came for a week to set up the stage choreography of Mandinga for Eurovision 2012. This is not the only surprise that the band and TVR prepare. Alexandru Ghildus and Costel Badea, professors at the University of Arts of Bucharest are working to redesign the music instruments that will appear in the show. Accordion, drum and bagpipes are stylized and have special lights. "It will be a very interesting show, with special costumes and interesting choreography. Also on stage will be styled instruments," told EVZ Dan Manoliu, head of the Romanian delegation. Band had to miss Easter celebrations as they have entered preparations camp. World. Ilie Nastase, the famous international tennis player, is one of the first VIPs trying to learn the "Zaleilah" steps, after watching the video tutorial on YouTube. He had a lot of fun meeting Mandinga, talking and dancing with them. He was a fan of Zaleilah from the very beginning, so that after meeting the group, he openly expressed his full support for the group in Baku in May. |

| Lead singer of the band Mandinga, who will represent Romania at
Eurovision this year, Elena Ionescu, has appeared to have a vocal cords problem, as
reported by Click.ro. Since the band was elected at the national selection Mandinga had
almost daily concerts, and other performance events. Moreover, artists are busy preparing
their choreography. Elena Ionescu, however, got tired and felt she needed a break. Some
days ago, the singer has consulted with the doctor to make analyzes and to ensure that a
health problem with vocal cords she had been experiencing will not create difficulties for
her participation in the important competition. "For five years I had no problems,
but now they have reappeared. We are exhausted, tired, but we have even more concerts
scheduled. We had to start refusing to invitations because we have no time left to deal
with Eurovision. We're searching for costumes, we have a lot to prepare. So I did a vocal
break, I was doing my tests and they came pretty good. But I will still keep fixing my
voice with natural products", said Elena. Earlier, Croatian entrant Nina Badric had to go through a vocal cords surgery, with recovery period about two monthes, but she is expected to be ready for Eurovision. |

пять лет у меня не было проблем, но вот они
появились снова. Мы измождены, устали, но у нас
впереди по расписанию запланированы еще много
концертов. Нам пришлось начать отказываться от
предложений, потому что так мы вообще не успеем
подготовиться к Евровидению. Мы ищем костюмы, нам
еще много что нужно подготовить. Поэтому я взяла
небольшую паузу, прошла тестирование, и его
результаты были весьма положительными. Но я
продолжу лечить свой голос с помощью натуральных
препаратов", говорит Елена. Ранее, представительница Хорватии Нина Бадрич прошла через операцию на связках с периодом восстановления около двух месяцев, но ожидается, что она будет в полной готовности к Евровидению. |

| Romanian representatives, band Mandinga, have recorded message to
Eurovision fans in English, Russian, Azeri, Turkish, French, German and Spanish. The entry, Zaleilah, has been doing well in charts, for example topping chart of Radio 21. Before Eurovision band plans to perform at Amsterdam and Brussels preview parties, as well as have series of 10 scheduled concerts in Romania, which are leading to the huge 10 years anniversary contest on May 31. |

Two more songs have been named reserve candidates for the cases of withdrawals. entries have been received by Romanian broadcaster TVR. On 27th of February, with live
online-broadcast, all envelopes were opened and checked for compliance with Eurovision
Regulations. Of the 109
pieces submitted, 63 entries were valid and 46 did not comply with all provisions of
Regulation (lacking some signatures or documents required, etc..). In this circumstances
it was decided to make an exception to the Regulation and to provide time until 28th of
February 9.30 all missing documents. The copies can be sent to TVR by e-mail, while
original papers should reach broadcaster by March 2nd. On Tuesday, February 28, professional jury set by TVR will be listening to the registered entries and choose number (minimum 12 and maximum 17) of songs that will take part in live show on 10 March in a TVR. 27го февраля, в прямом онлайн-эфире, все конверты с
заявками были вскрыты и проверены на
соответствие с правилами Евровидения. Из 109
полученных заявок, 63 были признаны
соответствующими, а 46 не соответствующими всем
положениям правил (недостающие подписи или
документы и тп.). В сложившихся обстоятельствах
было разрешено сделать исключени из правил и
выделить время до 9.30 утра 28го февраля дослать
недостающие документы. Копии могли быть
отправлены в TVR по e-mail, а оригиналы бумаг должны
достичь телекомпании до 2го марта. 28го февраля, во вторник, профессиональное жюри, созванное TVR, прослушает песни и выберет несколько из них (от 12 до 17) на участие в финале национального отбора 10го марта. Среди тех, чьи заявки были

initially trying to negotiate with singer Inna, who appeared to be too busy with her tour,
TVR has again announced an open preselection to choose it's entry. Entries are accepted
from 6th till 23rd of February and on 28th of February 12-17 of them will be chosen for
the final. As usual, if the jury considers the artist as not appropriate for the song,
they will recommend another artist from the shortlist published by TVR. The national final
will took place in Bucharest on March 10. --------------------------- |

Заявки принимаются с 6го по 23е февраля, и 28го февраля 12-17 из них выйдут в финал. Как обычно, если жюри сочтет исполнителя не подходящим для песни, оно порекомендует другого артиста из списка, опубликованного TVR.
