Stockholm, Sweden Tele2, the Official Mobile Operator of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest has launched an initiative, The Sound of Europe, which is the world's first crowdsourced singing voice, calling for openness and love for all.
Music knows no boundaries and this is true of the Eurovision Song Contest, founded in 1956 with the ambition to strengthen the bonds across borders. It is with this in mind that Tele2 has launched the campaign, The Sound of Europe, which is entirely in-keeping with the theme for 2016, Come Together.

Tele2 has commissioned a song, One, specially produced by Sweden's Pontus Winnberg, who has worked with artists such as Madonna and Britney Spears. By downloading the The Sound of Europe app, anyone can sing their contribution, up to and including 14th May when the Grand Final of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest will take place.

Contributions will be collected on the website of The Sound of Europe allowing users to follow in realtime as more and more people gather with their singing voices. At the Eurovision Song Contest, all voices will be gathered in one crowdsourced singing voice, singing the song, One. All revenues of the common version will go to all those in need through the organisation Radiohjälpen. Download the app on iTunes and Google Play.

Tele2 and Pontus Winnberg Crowdsources Song to promote openness in Europe
Tele2 launches the initiative The Sound of Europe to promote openness and tolerance. Tele2 is the official telecom operator for Eurovision Song Contest which celebrates 60 years in 2016. As a part of the anniversary, Tele2 will let Europe become part of the world’s largest crowdsourced singing voice, where all proceeds go to charity Radiohjälpen.
Eurovision Song Contest was first broadcasted in 1956 by EBU (European Broadcasting Union) as a cross border initiative meant to strengthen the bonds between countries in an increasingly scattered Europe.
Tele2’s initiative The Sound of Europe wants to shed light on current societal influences by using EBU’s original philosophy, and promote a more open and tolerant society for all. An app named after the campaign will help people from all over the globe to unite through song, creating the world’s first crowdsourced singing voice in the song “One”.
– The initiative shows that mobile connectivity enables inclusion and promotes new types of interactions that go beyond national, personal, and cultural borders. We are proud to pioneer the creation of the world’s first crowdsourced singing voice. It will be very exciting to see how our initiative evolves and engages people throughout Europe, says Karl Skoog, Brand Concept & Engagement Manager at Tele2.
Pontus Winnberg (Miike Snow/Amason) Creates the Song “One”
The song “One” has been exclusively produced by Pontus Winnberg, (Miike Snow/Amason) as well as producer for artists like Madonna and Britney Spears.
By downloading the app The Sound of Europe, anyone can join in and sing their contribution until May 15, when the grande finale of Eurovision Song Contest takes place.
The crowdsourced singing voice can be heard at www.thesoundofeurope.com, where people will be able to follow its growth in real time. After the Eurovision finale, the song contributions will come together in the song “One”. All proceeds from that version of the song will go to charity Radiohjälpen, helping people in need.
– I am very proud to be part of the The Sound of Europe initiative. I produced the song “One” exclusively for Tele2 in order to show how music has the power to unite people to create openness across borders. The song’s message speaks for itself and I am convinced that many will appreciate the initiative and contribute with their voice to create a more open and inclusive society, says Pontus Winnberg.
Join in and sing your contribution by downloading the app The Sound of Europe on App Store or Google Play. See the singing voice grow at www.thesoundofeurope.com.
