Francesca Michielin (Italy) and her team reveal more about the staging concept.....

Francesca Michielin – No Degree of Separation

Italian entrant at the 61st Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm, Sweden

“The Seed of the Tree of Life”

Interview with Italy

Francesca Michielin will perform her track on Saturday 14 May 2016 at the Grand Final of the 61st Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm, Sweden. The staging delivers a symbolic message of the song, ending with Francesca passing the seed of the tree of life to the viewing audience.

The message is a continuous theme, throughout all her videos from her recent album ‘di20are’ as well as her artwork.

The message is simply – we are all different but we are all the same….’there is no degree of separation’ between us, as humans, just that we are individuals with different backgrounds, but yet still ‘fruit from the same tree’. Francesca reminds us that there should be no walls between us, and continues with the theme from the Eurovision Song Contest in 2015, with ‘Building Bridges’ and really believes in the true spirit of the contest, in sharing music, experiences and ‘coming together’.

Interview with Italy

Francesca wishes to emphasise this message throughout her performance with different symbols ie, diamonds, balloons, 3D glasses, butterflies - ending with her passing the ‘growing’ seed from the tree of life to the audience demonstrating hope and a new beginning, and reminding us all – ‘there is no degree of separation between us’.

Ira Losco (Malta) Celebrates diversity and equality with you all....

Ira Losco will be celebrating Malta being named number one in Europe for LGBTI equality[1] this evening and is inviting Eurovision fans to join her. Ira will be armed with a selfie stick to see how many people she can get in the picture, in the true spirit of this year's theme, #ComeTogether.

Malta zoomed up to the number one spot after bringing in civil unions, outlawing discrimination based on sexual orientation and introducing one of the most progressive transgender laws in the world, where identity doesn't depend on a doctor’s certification. The country is bringing in a law to ban gay conversion therapy and both the Prime Minister and Opposition Leader have committed themselves to marriage equality.

Press conference from Malta

Ira Losco, whose song “Walk on Water” ranks highly with the bookmakers for Saturday’s final has long been an advocate of LGBTI rights.

Ira said, “If I win I will be thrilled, of course, but Eurovision fans will be winners too, because they would be able to look forward to a brilliant contest next year in a country that is genuine about LGBTI equality. Malta would be turned into a Eurovision sunshine island.”

Malta is already making preparations to host Junior Eurovision for a second time in November 2016.

The event is at 19:30 tonight in the Eurovision Press Centre in Stockholm. Ira will share the photo on her Facebook page and is asking everyone to tag themselves.

Views of Globen and crowd shots and COME TOGETHER. Seem like quite a crowd in the area too which is nice.

Now we have lots of Swedish humour and comedy form the hosts, but this washes over me and leaves me very cold I am afraid. All a bit too much MF for my liking.

Both hosts resplendent in silver jacket for Mans and a dress for Petra....all very sparkly. And now we have a duet from the two of them....very smorgasbord like in Malmo
