Georgia First Rehearsal

I have a real soft spot for Georgia, even though It isn't considered as a favourite, much to my surprise.

The camera work of the first verse is a little bit strange, as part of the screen is being mirrored which leads to some very weird body compositions of the band. It reminds me a bit of the camera work France used back in 2008 with Sebastien Tellier. The second time round, the special mirror effect is dropped and it looks so much better.

So not a big fan of that bit, but what follows next is quirky, alternative bright, colourful and full of lights. Just what you need with an alternative song like this.

Many fans have this down at the bottom of their list, but in my opinion, Georgia has everything in power to qualify with much ease.

I like it very much!

Georgia Second Rehearsal: Nina Sublatti - Warrior

A Very very very very confident closer coming from Georgia.

Still channeling her inner Raven, Nina is performing once again really really strong. I am getting huuge Moldova 2007 vibes from this and I think this will do equally well.

No huge changes from Georgia and we're very very satisfied with it.

Another perfect run for Georgia.

Jam night at Albertina Passage

Samira and I just returned from the Eurovision jam night – tired and satisfied. The party took place in Albertina Passage in the city centre just next to the Opera. We met a lot of people without accreditation badges, and it’s not a surprise – fans are allowed to these parties the first week.

It’s a very nice place, beautifully decorated with lots of dining tables. On a usual night I would have liked this restaurant but at party with 300 guests….I doubt it. Many tables were empty but in other areas it was fully packed and not enough air-conditioned.

Well, it all started with Maimuna (Belarus) “inviting” Uzari with her violin to come on the stage. They performed their remix very good and today you could see there was a great improvement with their eye contact. Now they look like atrue duo.

Second came Nina (Georgia) singing two songs. Her performance was impressive, full of emotions and pain.
Elhaida Dani was given a turn to perform – it was a big change comparing with the previous singer. She was very open to public, singing her favorite Eurovision song – 2012 Spain’s entry and later, her Eurovision song.
Then we got to hear from Czech Republic – two very cheerful singers who managed to make all people dance. They have a special energy coming out and spreading it to everyone.

The last performers were the two backing vocalists from Slovenia. They sang a couple of songs for us and the dj continued to play the music. When we were leaving, at about 12.30, there were still a lot of people in the club, including boys from Anti Social Media, dancing and enjoying themselves.

Georgia First Rehearsal: Nina Sublatti - Warrior

Final artist on the stage, and it's already the last participant in the first semi final.

Nina Sublatti from Georgia is channeling her inner comic superhero, Raven, by the looks of her outfit. Wearing a pair of hot pants, and a leather jacket with feathers on the top, including a raven headgear, Nina is looking absolutely fierce.

She's absolutely owning that stage, with her impressive vocals. First time around she drowned a little in the sound but with the second run, the sound's much better adjusted.

There's not that much happening on the stage itself, but the anticipation really builds up when the smoke fills the stage during the intermezzo.

Great end to finish, this first semi final with. I am getting good vibes from this, there's definitely comparisons to be made with Moldova in 2007 when they unexpectedly made it to the grand final with a similar song.

Great first rehearsal for the Georgian team.
