From day one the hunt for powerful and catchy melodies was the main focus of the band. Through the past years the band has been touring Denmark with more than 100 shows refining the expression of their work. The music combines the simplicity of boyband pop with the complexity of british influenced indie rock backed by powerful choir arrangements.

In 2008 A FRIEND IN LONDON won the european final of the Bodog Million Dollar Battle of the Bands, with more than 40.000 bands from around the world participating. This event ignited a spark for the band in Canada and since 2009 there has been 3 successful tours in the state of Ontario, including shows at NXNE (North by NorthEast) and Canadian Music Week as well as a performance at Breakfast TV, no.1 morning show in Toronto.

2011 will be a defining year for A FRIEND IN LONDON. The band has confirmed a slot at the forthcoming Canadian Music Week launching another Canadian spring tour in conjunction with this performance. Alongside the expansive Canadian activity the preparations for the anticipated debut album have also been kicked off with album relase set in 2011.

The band consists of four male members: Tim Schou (vocal/guitar), Sebastian Vinther (guitar/vocal), Aske Damm Bramming (bass/vocal) and Esben Svane (drums/vocal).

Song "New Tomorrow" is written by Lise Cabble and Jakob Glaesner, who have approached the band with idea to enter the selection. New Tomorrow is about changing the world in the big picture, and the message can be escalated down to all kinds of things in life.

Answering rumours band has stated: "It does sound a lot like the chorus in ‘Sing for me’ by Andreas Johnson, but it also sounds a lot like ‘Shine’ by Take That, and five other songs people have been pointing out. The melody basically consists of a pentatone scale and has a quite simple pop melody. That is the same thing with the other tunes, and why they sound alike. If you hear all the songs the differences are very clear between them, and ‘New Tomorrow’ is a completely different song in its format and message".

They have no promotour plans besides appearance in promo-concert in Amsterdam. So, their preparations will include playing shows in Denmark during April, rehearsing with the choreographer, and meeting up with our performance coach.

The band has passed their special greetings for Russian Eurovision fans which they hope to meet at Eurovision. "Maybe we can have a vodka and a pickle together!! Na zdarovje!!"

Отвечая на слухи, группа заметила: "Да, песня звучит похоже на припев в "Sing for me" Андреаса Йонсона, но она звучит похоже и на "Shine" Take That и еще песен пять, на которые нам указывают. Мелодия композиции очень проста, она основана на пентатонике. Тоже самое можно услышать и в других песнях, и поэтому они звучат похоже. Но если вы внимательно прислушаетесь, есть четкие различия между ними и "New Tomorrow", которая является полностью другой песню по формату и смыслу".

У группы пока нет каких либо планов промо-туров, помимо выступления на промо-концерте в Амстердаме. Таким образом, подготовка группы к конкурсу будет включать в себя выступления на концертах в Дании в апреле, работу с хореографом и сценическим педагогом.

Группа передала свои приветы русским поклонникам конкурса, с которыми она надеется встретиться на Евровидении. "Может выпьем вместе водочки с рассольчиком!! На здоровье!!"

The band has signed contract with URartist Network for management and record label Fontana North, that has already released single "New Tomorrow" and will release debut album of the band in Canada in September. It will be produced by Canadian producers Greig Nori and Kevin Doyle (Van Morrisson, Kiss, Sinaed O'Connor, Andrea Bocelli). A Danish debut release meanwhile has been delayed as the band is still looking for a proper contract with the label, so the album may not appear right after the ESC as originally expected.
