| Vlad
Mirita was born in 1981 in Targoviste, Romania, where he began his singing education at
the Art School when he was 16 years old. During his education he attended to the
“Armonia Valaha Choir” and sang at national and international festivals and events.
2001 he took private lessons in singing with Maestro Corneliu Fanateanu in Bucharest and
became a member of the famous East-European Chamber Choir “Madrigal”. Vlad Mirita won
several prices at national and international singing contests and music festivals, such as
the 1st prize at the National Pop Festival “Mamaia” in 2002, the 2nd prize at the
international festival “Songs of the World 2005” or the 2nd prize at the
international tenor voices festival “Traian Grozavescu” in Lugoj. Since 2006 he is
soloist at the National Opera Bucharest and he sang in operas of Puccini, Verdi and Bizet.
He sang the roles of Ismael in “Nabucco”, Edmondo in “Manon Lescaut” and the title
roles in “Aida” and “Il Trovatore”. In 2007 Vlad Mirita visited the Master classes
of Leontina Vaduva and Ionel Pantea and he participated in several concerts in Romania. Nico (Nicoleta Matei) was born on 1st of February 1970 in Ploesti, Romania. She graduated from the High school for professional singers in 1990. Now she is working as a singer at the "Toma Garagiu" Musical Theatre in Ploesti. Her career has been extremely successful since 1998. In 2001 she signed a contract with a very famous music show in Japan. Through the years she has worked with all the leading radio and TV stations in Romania. Nico has won many awards at the most outstanding music contests all over the country. She won first prize award for best female singer in the "Theatre Festival Contest" in Constanta in 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999. In 1996 she was second in the most significant pop contest in Romania "Mamaia". She is taking part in Romanian preselections for Eurovision in Romania since 2003. In Brashov, Romania Nico won second prize at the "Golden Stag International Song Festival in 2003. In 2004 she wins "The Trophy" at Discovery festival in Bulgaria. Same year she wins Grand-Prix at prestigeous festival "Voice of Asia" in Almaty, Kazakhstan and again finishes 2nd in "Mamaia". | Nico
and Vlad, the Romanian participants for Eurovision 2008, came back from United Kingdom and
Belgium, the last two tour locations in order to promote their song "Pe-o margine de
lume". On April 25 the two Romanian singer have been invited at an eurovision fan
event called "Uk Eurovision Preview Party" in Scala club from London, together
with other Eurovision artists. Nico and Vlad Mirita tryed to sing their song together with
the fans but the Romanian lyrics put them in difficulty. It was not the same reaction when
Nico and Vlad sang the song "Prayer", when the whole public sang together with
the two singers. Nico and Vlad Mirita also met the British media, gave lots of interviews
and also sustained a press conference. Between April 26 and the second day of Easter, Nico and Vlad visited Belgium. They spent their first day in Antwerp, where they sustained a press conference, participated at a reception at Antwerp municipal council, where they were welcome by the mayor, who told them a lot of things about the city history. Easter "caught" them in a extraordinary concert in Bruxelles, held outdoor in St. Catherine Square together with Dima Bilan (Russia), Ani Lorak (Ukraine), Rebeca (Slovenia), Jelena (Serbia), Sirusho (Armenia) and Laka (Bosnia and Hertzegovina). Although they were far away from theirs family for Easter, Nico and Vlad stated that the fans appreciation helped them to spend an Easter that they would never forget. |

вернулись из Великобритании и Бельгии, двух
последних остановок в промо-туре. 25го апреля
румынские исполнители были приглашены на
вечеринку Евровидения, которая прошла в клубе
Скала в Лондоне, где присутствовали и множество
других конкурсантов этого года. Нико и Влад
попытались исполнить конкурсную песню "Pe-o margine
de lume" вместе с фанатами, но румынский текст
оказался довольно сложен для последних. Более
легко они справились с задачей исполнения песни
"Prayer", которой подпевал весь зал. Нико и Влад
встретились с британской прессой, дали ряд
интервью и участвовали в пресс-конференции. Между 26 апреля и 2м днем пасхи Влад и Нико посетили Бельгию. Первый день они провели в Антверпене, где состоялась пресс-конференция, прием в городской мэрии. В пасху состоялся концерт в Брюсселе, на площади св.Катерины, в котором приняли участие также конкурсанты из России, Украины, Словении, Сербии, Армении и Боснии. Хотя Влад и Нико не смогли провести пасху с семьями, они говорят, что эта пасха стала для них незабываемой. |

the 13 th and the 17 th of April, Nico and Vlad, Romania’s representatives at Eurovision
2008, continued the promotion tour for their song “Pe-o margine de lume” with two new
locations. There were some very busy days for the two interpreters. Both Nico and Vlad,
but also their staff, had to deal with a very busy schedule, with many rehearsals,
interviews and meetings with the media in Moldova and Ukraine. On their first day, after 500 kilometers taken to Chisinau, Nico and Vlad were welcomed by the officials of EuroTV, where they recorded the show called “Epicentru”. For an hour, Nico and Vlad presented their clip and talked about the promotion of their song. Through EuroTV, the clip of the song “Pe-o margine de lume” was broadcasted on all the TV stations in Moldova. And because the Moldavian public liked Nico and Vlad, they were asked to come back for concerts in Chisinau. On the 14th of April, at dawn, the two interpreters, along with the Romanian Television staff headed to Kiev, were the hosts had prepared for them a series of meetings with the TV, radio and written media. The hotel where the Romanians were accommodated was nearby the Olimpiysky National Sports Complex – The Olympic Stadium in Kiev, as well as the historical centre of the city, which the artists took the chance to visit. The delegation was also warmly greeted at the Romanian Embassy in Kiev. Nico and Vlad’s marathon in Ukraine included TV appearances at 1+1TV, where our two artists interpreted their song in the morning show “Breakfast”, MTV Ukraine, M1TV, 24TV, where Vlad and Nico had an interview for the show “Morning with Inter” or 1TV, where they sang for the show “muz.ua”. Furthermore, Nico and Vlad visited a few radios and newspapers for interviews and photo sessions. “Life as It Is”, “TV Guide” and “24” were the publications in which the Ukrainian public would be able to read about Nico and Vlad. Also, the Romanian representatives at Eurovision had interviews for Nashe Radio and Radio Europe Plus. One of the original moments of the trip was the online conversation that the Romanian artists had, during two hours, with the visitors of the “e-motion” website, dedicated to the Eurovision fans. Thus, the youngsters in Ukraine were able to chat directly and find out different things about Nico and Vlad. Finally, Nico and Vlad came back home with beautiful memories. “We were very warmly welcomed both in Moldova and Ukraine. Unfortunately, we didn’t have much time to stay in Chisinau, but we promised to go back and talk about us and our projects. In Ukraine, besides the TVR staff, we were accompanied all the time by Maria, a representative of Ruslana’s staff. We hope that her presence would bring us good luck”, Vlad said. From Maria Dashenko (Ruslana’s PR Manager) Nico and Vlad got a nappy toy, to bring them the same luck and success that Ruslana had had at Eurovision. Nico and Vlad decided to name the toy (a hippopotamus) “Masha” and promised to take it along at Belgrade as a mascot. |

Евровидении 2008 Нико и Влад продолжили свой
промо-тур в двух новых странах. Для исполнителей
это были очень напряженные дни. Нико и Владу и их
команде пришлось бороться с очень напряженным
расписанием, включавшим как репетиции, так и
интервью и встречи с представителями СМИ Молдовы
и Украины. В первый день тура, проехав 500 километров до Кишинева Нико и Влад посетили EuroTV, где приняли участие в шоу "Эпицентр". За час эфира Нико и Влад презентовали свой клип и рассказали о своей песне. Клип был также показан и на других телестанциях Молдовы. Молдавской публике полюбились румынские исполнители и их постоянно приглашали вернуться в Кишинев с концертами. 14 апреля, рано утром, два исполнителя, вместе с работниками румынского телевидения, направились в Киев, где для них была запланированна серия интервью с местными телекомпаниями, радио и печатной прессой. Румыны расположились в отеле, неподалеку от Олимпийского Национального спортивного комплекса, а также исторического центра города, который им удалось посетить. Делегацию также ждал теплый прием в румынском посольстве в Киеве. Марафон Нико и Влада включал выступления на телеканалах 1+1, артисты исполнили свою песню в утреннем шоу канала, MTV Украина, M1, 24TV, интервью для утреннего шоу канала Интер и Первый Национальный, для которого они спели свою песню в программе "muz.ua". Нико и Влад посетили ряд радиостанций и газет, где дали интервью и приняли участие в фотосессиях. Среди газет с публикациями о Нико и Владе - "Жизнь", "Телегид" и "24". В Украине, помимо команды ТВР нас сопровождала и Мария, представительница команды Русланы. Мы надеемся, что ее присутствие принесет нам удачу", рассказал Влад. В подарок от PR менеджера Русланы Марии Дашенко Нико и Влад получили мягкую игрушку, чтобы она принесла им такую же удачу, как Руслане. Нико и Влад решили назвать игрушечного бегемотика "Маша" и обещали взять его в Белград в качестве талисмана. |

| Romanian
national broadcaster TVR has announced 24 entries to take part in two semifinals of
national selection. Preselection comittee, headed by Mr. Ioan Duma have received 282
entries. TVR also named 4 reserve entries for a cases of disqualifications or withdrawals.
Semifinals are scheduled for 9th and 16th of February. 6 songs from each will proceed to
the final to take place on 23rd of February. 24-25 st of January - shooting and montage of video clips, 3-8th of February - broadcast of clips of first semi (9.50, 18.35), 10-15th of February - broadcast of clips of the second semi. You can listen to the participating songs here It is confirmed that Your Love has been disqualified for breaking October 1 rule and Vorbe care dor has been withdrawn. Time To Rise was withdrawn as it also was selected to take part in Irish national final. Song Fight For Life is also breaking October 1 rule, but TVR has ruled to keep it in running There was a mistake in originally published list, as it included wrong song Follow Me. The one by Ada got 77 pts from jury, while the one from VH2 got 131.5 pts. Full results of preselection jury voting is available here. участие. Помимо 24х основных песен, были названы и
4 запасные, которые также могут принять участие в
отборе в случае дисквалификаций или снятий
основных участников. Полуфиналы отбора пройдути
9го и 16го февраля, по 6 песен из каждого выйдут в
финал, который состоится 23го февраля. 24-25го января пройдут съемки и монтаж клипов участников, 3-8 февраля - показ клипов первого полуфинала (11.50, 20.35), 10-15 февраля - показ клипов второго полуфинала. Прослушать участвующие песни вы можете здесь Объявлено, что песня Your Love была дисквалифицирована за нарушение правила 1го октября, а песня Vorbe care dor снята с участия представителем группы. Композиция Time To Rise была снята автором с конкурса, поскольку она вышла в национальный финал в Ирландии. Композиция Fight For Life также нарушает правило 1го октября, но решение о ее дисквалификации не было принято. В первоначально опубликованный список вкралась ошибка, он включал вместо композиции Follow Me группы VH2 набравшей 131.5 баллов в отборе, композицию с тем же названием певицы Ada, которая набрала только 77 баллов.
