At the press-conference held by Dutch broadcaster NOS today it was confirmed that female singer Hind, former participant of local Idol competition will represent The Netherlands at Eurovision Song Contest 2008. It has been confirmed that her song will be in English. Interested songwriters and composers can submit songs for the internal selection in mp3 format to songfestival@agentsafterall.nl. "I will select the best song, but I really need to make it my own in order to be able to transfer my feelings and emotions through it. So I will definitely be involved in creation of the final lyrics. I chose English language, because I can best formulate myself in it. I don't know what style the song will be yet. Everything is still possible. But it will be in line with other songs for my new album on which I work at present and which will come out in spring of 2008. My first goal in competition will be to reach the final, but I don't set too high expectations. In that case i won't be too disappointed when it doesn't happen. I just hope that I will come up with a good song, give a steady performance and do the best I can", told singer. Hind Laroussi Tahiri was born on December 3, 1984 in Gouda in the Netherlands from Moroccan father and Dutch mother. Popularity to the singer came after participation in the first edition of Dutch Idols in 2002-2003 season, when she managed to reach finals. Hind's debut album "Around The World" was released in 2003 and contains pop and R&B songs, but is also influenced by Portugese and Arabic music. The album sold over 40,000 copies. In 2004, she received an Edison award for Best New Dutch Artist. In 2005, Hind released her second album "Halfway Home", which she herself called "Arabpop" due to the Arabic influences in several of the songs. Singer is also known for her impressive live performances in both halls and tv-shows. She is also active as ambassador of peace, recently travelling to occupied areas in Israel, refugee camps and performing with Arab Orchestra.
