Rombley was born in Amsterdam in 1978 from the Carribean parents out of islands Aruba and
Curacao. Her mother originates from the English-speaking town of St.Nicolas which explains
Edsilia's perfect English diction. At 13 the chanteuse enters her first talent contest at
a local soccer-club, winning it of course, and many contests follow. At 15 Edsilia becomes
part of the all-female r&b quartet Dignity. In 1996 she wins the Dutch equivalent of
Stars In Their Eyes, the Soundmix Show. Next year Edsilia wins the European Soundmix Show,
shortly afterwards leaving Dignity to pursue a solo career. In 1998 Edsilia has a momentous breakthrough with the national and European songfests. She wins national one and finishes 4th at the European songfest. She records promotional album of Dutch songs and first official pop-soul album. Edsilia's 2002 album Face To Face was marvelous blend of pop, r&b and soul. She works with vocal coach Keith John, best known as back-up singer and arranger for Stevie Wonder. In the winter of 2003/04 she did a joyous tour with internationally awarded pianist Michiel Borstlap where Edsilia got to perform seven of her favourite songs, original self written material as well as amazing covers known from her longtime idols Anita Baker, Oleta Adams and Canadian songbird Tamia. At the concert in France she ends up meeting Lionel Ritchie who invites her as support act for his Benelux tour. In March 2005 Edsilia has travelled to Congo to visit local towns and hospitals to do a report for Dutch magazine "Margriet" as part of a fundraiser campaign she started earlier with Dutch diva Karin Bloemen, making the single "Als Je Iets Kan Doen" and performing a special concert in Den Haag. The song has later been used, added with several other well-know Dutch artists, as the theme song in a fundraiser for the Tsunami victims in Asia. |

| published 11.02 Tonight during Paul de Leeuw show Mooi! Weer het Nationaal Songfestival Dutch entry for Eurovision 2007 will be premierred. Broadcast is available at Nederland 1 at 20.20, BVN 22.50 CET. As ESCKaz predicted Edsilia will perform "Nooit meer zonder jou" (Never again without you) - starting track of her new album, written by her husband Tjeerd Oosterhuis. English version will be recorded as well, though the choice of language for Helsinki was not yet made. |

broadcaster NOS has confirmed that internally selected Edsilia Rombley will represent The
Netherlands at Eurovision 2007. Edsilia has already represented The Netherlands in 1998
with "Hemel en Aarde" finishing 4th. The song will be presented on February 11th at "Mooi Weer de Leeuw" show, which will be co-production between NOS and VARA. Gerard Dielessen (NOS-director): "I've indicated last year that because of the budget cut the national selection could no longer be produced by NOS. But at that time I also said the Netherlands still must participate, but with another public broadcaster. So we've entered a search. After talks with Paul de Leeuw, VARA and NOS decided to embed the national selection in the already existing show Mooi Weer De Leeuw. Host Paul de Leeuw has succesfully worked on the Dutch song contest earlier. We're happy with this structure, because we don't need to spend a lot of expenses on the separate national song contest" Frans Klein (VARA program-director): "Everyone knows how much Paul de Leeuw is involved in the songfestival, therefore it is great cooperation! We don't know at this moment yet how exactly show will look like on the 11th of February, but it will be a mix between a normal weekly Paul's show and a party around Edsilia which will sparkle and surprise". Edsilia has commented her choice: "Of course I had to think when NOS approached me, but the way they organize the contest this year is very good. The moment they approached me, I was in the middle of recording my first Dutch album Meer dan ooit (More than ever). I think that all participants of Eurovision should perform in their own language. Therefore I could already make a selection of songs which can suit the format. I'm really honoured to represent The Netherlands again"  In January
Edsilia plans to start More than ever tour at 40 locations during 3 months, album itself
will be released on 9th of February. It is expected that Eurovision track is included into

внутренним отбором певица Эдсилия Ромбли
представит Голландию на Евровидении 2007. Эдсилия
уже представляла Голландию в 1998 году с
композицией "Hemel en Aarde", заняв 4е место. Песня Эдсилии будет презентована 11 февраля на шоу "Mooi Weer de Leeuw", которое будет произведено совместно телекомпаниями NOS и VARA. После переговоров с Полом Де Лееувом, телеканалы VARA и NOS решили внедрить национальный отбор в телешоу Пола, который ранее уже много работал с национальным отбором. Мы очень удовлетворены получившейся структурой, поскольку нам не придется тратить средства на проведение отдельного отбора". Франс Кляйн (директор программ VARA): "Все знают, насколько сильно Пол Де Лееув связан с Евровидением, поэтому это отличное сотрудничество! Мы пока еще не знаем точно, как будет выглядеть шоу 11 февраля, но оно будет смесью между нормальным еженедельным шоу Пола и шоу, посвященным Эдсилии, которое вас должно удивить". Сам Эдсилия так прокомментировала свой выбор: "Конечно, я задумалась, когда NOS обратился ко мне, но мне очень понравилась организация этого года. К тому моменту, как я получила предложение, я записывала свой первый альбом на голландском языке Meer dan ooit. Я думаю, что все участники Евровидени должны петь на своих языках. У меня уже был выбор песен, которые я и предложила организаторам. Для меня это честь снова представлять Нидерланды". В январе Эдсилия планирует начать турне, в которое на протяжении 3х месяцев войдут около 40 концертов, альбом будет выпущен 9го февраля, ожидается, что он содержит и песню, которая будет представлена на Евровидении 2007.
