Roger CICERO, born on 6th July 1970, is genetically predestined. Eugen CICERO, Roger's father, was a famous jazz pianist in the 1970s in Europe. His mother was a dancer at the opera, but was unable to continue her career because of a broken toe. Artists were constant guests at home, the legendary Josephine BAKER cuddled him on her lap. At the age of 4 he was lifted onto a piano stool - but his protests were successful. Roger CICERO did not want to be a wunderkind. At 10 he discovered the guitar, which was much more to his liking. On long car trips father and son sang songs together by Gilbert O'SULLIVAN, Errol GARNER, Stevie WONDER and MANHATTAN TRANSFER, and Roger's early musical taste developed in this way. At just 12 he made his first stage appearance (with Helen VITA), at 16 he had his first TV shows with Horst JANKOWSKI and the RIAS dance orchestra. After leaving school he underwent solid musical training: first of all song, piano and guitar at the Hohner conservatoire in Trossingen. In 1991 he studied music at the School of the Arts in Hilversum, majoring in jazz singing. With his club appearances he not only financed his life in the Netherlands but also developed into a charismatic entertainer. Back in Germany he worked first with the Soullounge formation, later on issuing his first CD under his own name and that of the After Hours formation. Other jazz CDs followed (among others with Julia HULSMANN) and CICERO was praised by all the critics, both for the CDs and for his live performances. Finally, the meeting with songwriters and producers Frank RAMOND and Mathias HASS led to his jazz-oriented path curving sharply upwards. With this team he was able to realise a long-held dream: to record a CD with swing music and contemporary German lyrics. The album was called Mannersachen and entered the charts in the lee of the fantastic single Zieh Die Schuh Aus just two weeks after it was issued at the end of May. And it's still there. The current status is platinum. Roger CICERO was ready for the big stage. With his brilliant 11-piece band, under the direction of the pianist Lutz KRAJENSKI, his music partner, he is now taking part in a major tour of Germany. Many of the 33 concerts planned up to now have already been sold out. CICERO is being celebrated by enthusiastic audiences and is enjoying the success to the full. С его уникальной группой из 11 человек, под руководством пианиста Лутца Краенски, его музыкального партнера, он принимает в настоящее время участие в туре по Германии. Множество из 33х запланированных концертов уже распроданы.

published 23.01 Third participant of the German selection has been revealed today. It is Heinz-Rudolf Kunze. 50 year old star of 80th joins recent Popstar winners Monrose and swing singer Roger Cicero. Heinz-Rudolf Kunze is one of the most versatile German-speaking artists. At the age of 15 Kunze started writing first poems and prose. Prosatexte. He has studied Germanistiks and Philosophy in the university. His music career started in 1980 with participation in Pop-Nachwuchs-festival. Kunze is well know for performing songs in German with sarcastic lyrics. His style was changing throughout his career from guitar rock to ballads. He is also known for translating world musicals in German language. Title of Roger Cicero song is confirmed to be "Frauen regieren die welt" (Women govern the world). Maxi single with the song will be released on 2nd of March. Girl band "Monrose" and swing singer Roger Cicero have been confirmed as two of three participants of the German national final 2007. The date for the national preselection has been set for 8th of March. Third participant will be announced shortly. As in previous year show will be presented by Thomas Hermanns live from Hamburg. Special guests will be: Gitte Haenning, Wencke Myhre and Siw Malmkvist, Johnny Logan, Bucks Fizz, Alice and Ellen Kessler. Monrose is an all-female pop–R&B trio, formed in 2006 on the fifth installment of the German version of the international television talent show Popstars. The band consists of the Popstars winners Mandy Capristo, Senna Guemmour, and Bahar Kizil, at the moment their album and single are No.1 in German charts, in the first week of the release of the single, they sold more copies than the other 99 acts in the German top 100 together. Senna: "The Grand Prix, wow! We accepted this invitation gladly. We step on, in order to win, that is completely clear. And then we will represent with dignity our country in Helsinki." Bahar: "That is a great chance for us. I am unbelievably proud that we are included to the final. The chance to be seen international is simple overwhelming. I did not miss ever a Grand Prix. German national final will take place in early March 2007 in Hamburg, reports NDR. Selection comittee will name 3 finalists. Most importan factors are quality of entries and experience of candidates, however promising newcomers are welcomed as well. It is expected that finalists will be selected by the end of this year.
