“LT United” has announced that they are on vacations during the period of 11th- 21st of May. Thing is, everybody needs some rest every once in a while, right? This year, “LT United” chose to spend their holidays in style, checking out the historic city of Athens. “We hear it's warm over there”, Saulius Urbonavicius said. We expect some wild nights out, at least one lost passport and plenty of Greek “Ouzo” to be brought back home. And some Greek dance lessons, of course. Oh, by the way, they're going to perform, too. Coincidentally, there's a festival called Eurovision held in Athens next week. We've heard a rumour that the band is actually somehow involved in that. We promise to check it out. По чистой случайности во время пребывания группы в Афинах, в этом же городе пройдет какой-то конкурс Евровидения. Ходят слухи, что группа будет каким-то образом вовлечена в него. “To whom it may concern. We kindly ask any radio or TV station which is currently broadcasting our song “We Are The Winners” to withdraw it from the playlist completely until 22nd of May. The band feels that airplay of the track before the Eurovision song contest causes damage to the efficiency of our forthcoming performance in Athens. This has something to do with the concept of the song – the “winners” anthem should not be overplayed because it was conceived as a fresh surprise to the ESC audience, in the first place. 25.04 "We Are the Winners of Eurovision" -- Lithuanian "all star" pop group "LT United" announced in the refrain of their song which will represent this country in Eurovision Song Contest 2006, to be held in Athens next month. The controversy surrounding those lyrics sparked hot debates on various internet discussion boards and was commented on during the TV shows in various European territories. This week "LT United" took this controversy one step further, launching the band's official website under the domain www.winnersofeurovision.com/ Such a decision has already been proclaimed arrogant by some of the commentators, but "LT United" say it was a rather logical move. "We are not going to ESC to compete against anybody. We have simply written a song of Eurovision winners and we're going to perform it", leader of the band Andrius Mamontovas said. Visitors of the website will be able to check out the news of "LT United" members' preparation for the contest, the official video of the "winners" song and the band's photogallery. Some call it a prank, but "LT United" say "winners of Eurovision" website will stay on the internet after the end of the contest -- as a document of their song's idea which got such a wild response. In March, "LT United" won Lithuanian ESC selection with an unprecedented support of televoters, receiving more than 32 000 votes -- almost twice as much as their closest rivals. The song caused a lot of discussions and even letters to the organizers of ESC, asking if the use of word "Eurovision" is allowed in the lyrics of competing songs. The organizers say there's no reason to disqualify the song so on the 18th of May "LT United" will officially become the "winners" with their performance in the ESC semi-final. "LT United" became U.N. Good Will ambassadors "LT United" are proud to announce that members of the band officially joined United Nations project "Time To Help The Others" last week. Along with several Lithuanian celebrities, "LT United" were appointed Good Will Ambassadors of the project. The idea behind "Time To Help The Others" is for developed countries to give financial and expert aid to poorer and less established societies. Participation of famous people helps to raise the public awareness of the subject -- Nelson Mandela, Bono, Zinedine Zidane are just several of the U.N. Good Will ambassadors who express support for the project. Having joined the project, "LT United" will take part in the promotional campaign of "Time To Help The Others". Members of the group will appear in the advertisements of the project and take part in the special concert to be held in Vilnius in the beginning of June. The show will be broadcasted by Lithuanian National Television. "I'm happy to join this project as it will hopefully change the thinking of many Lithuanian people. It is very important to assume that we've reached the level where we are able to help the others, instead of asking for support. I've spent my childhood in Africa and I know that the level of poverty in some of those countries is certainly beyond imagination of many Lithuanians. Even if you earn just a couple hundred euro a month, you can spare 2 euro for support -- it won't change your life drastically. Every cent counts", -- Victor "Vee" Diawara commented. Идея проекта "Время помочь другим" в том, что более развитые страны должны давать финансовую и другую помощь более бедным и менее развитым странам. Участие известных людей помогает привлечь внимание общественности к данному проекты - Нельсон Мандела, Боно, Зинедин Зидан - лишь немногие из послов доброй воли ООН, участвующих в данном проекте. После присоединения к нему группа примет участие в промо-кампании проекта "Время помочь другим". Участники группы снимутся в рекламных роликах проекта и примут участие в специальном концерте, который пройдет в Вильнюсе в начале июня и будет показан по национальному литовскому телевидению. "Я раз присоединиться к этому проекту и надеюсь, что он сможет изменить мышление многих жителей Литвы. Для нас важно понять, что мы уже достигли того уровня, когда должны не просить поддержки, а сами помогать другим. Я провел свое детство в Африке и я знаю, что многие литовцы даже не представляют каков там уровень бедности. "LT United" are pleased to announce the official release of "We Are The Winners" video to TV stations. The first showing of the video took place on 25th of March during the broadcast of "Lithuanian Top Ten" show on Lithuanian National television. Unprecedented popularity of the song meant that several spoof videos of the song were distributed by the fans on the internet even before the release of official video. The video, shot by acclaimed Lithuanian director Donatas Ulvydas and his "Kino komanda", consists mostly of archive documentary footage, overviewing activities of "LT United" during various phases of their careers. "We wanted this video to be acceptable to any European viewer", Ulvydas, who is a long-time collaborator of "LT United" mastermind Andrius Mamontovas, said. "This video is a document proving the stage experience of every "LT United" member.	"LT United" рады объявить о выходе официального видео на песню "Мы победители Евровидения". Премьера видео состоялась 25го марта во время эфира "Литовской топ-десятки" на национальном телевидение. Breaking news – the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest already has a winner! Simple as that. Sung in English and French, "We Are the Winners" is this year's Lithuanian entry and has already caused controversy in many European countries. "We are the winners of Eurovision" goes the chorus. Surely, they must be joking? Well, it seems they are not. Or maybe they are, but they do it with a charm. LT UNITED, the band responsible for this year's entry, is an ‘all star line-up’ of Lithuanian pop performers. Created and masterminded by Andrius Mamontovas, the famous Lithuanian rock singer, they deliver this catchy song with a message that's hard to resist. The Lithuanian President is a fan - he invited LT UNITED to his office to perform on Lithuania's Independence Day. Two weeks later, the nation made the same choice - LT UNITED witnessed unprecedented support during the national selection, gaining almost twice as many votes from the viewers as the closest runners-up. And their popularity keeps growing – in March, LT UNITED became Lithuanian ambassadors of the United Nations Development Programme ‘Time To Help The Others’. "The idea of this song came to me during a live TV discussion about Eurovision,” sais Andrius. “It just stuck in my head. Is the song ironic? Well, there's certain element of irony involved, of course. But the fact is, this is a song for the winners. A happy, uplifting song." Viewers of the same broadcast witnessed his promise to write a song for Eurovision 2006. Everybody thought he was joking. But he wasn't. Immediately fascinated by his idea, five Lithuanian pop stars jumped aboard, forming the most ambitious line-up in Lithuanian pop history. "This is the musical equivalent of a national basketball team,” he says. “Combined, the members of this line-up have the biggest experience of touring and performing in foreign countries. Our strength is our unity, so I'm 100% sure about this idea.” After winning the Lithuanian Eurovision selection, LT UNITED chose an alternative approach of promotion. Forget the trips to European capitals and performances in nightclubs. "There will be no public performances of this song until the day of the Eurovision Semi Final,” Andrius said. “No radio promo CDs will be issued, either. One might spend a lifetime trying to get into the spotlight, trying again and again to sneak in through the back door of this thing called ‘showbiz’. We chose a different approach - we'll take a limo and arrive right at the main entrance. We're not going to Athens to compete against anybody. The fact is, we have the song of the Eurovision winners. And we are going to perform it." So, ladies and gentlemen, let's meet the winners... Andrius Mamontovas is by far the most famous Lithuanian rock singer. During his two-decade career he has written and recorded more than 20 platinum albums – both as a leader of hugely successful (now defunct) group Foje and as a solo artist. Foje’s stadium performances attracted crowds of 60,000. Such an authoritative position in the Lithuanian music scene allowed Andrius to organize the concert that on April 1990 rescued the House of Press of Vilnius from being invaded by Soviet Army. During the difficult days, when fighting for the independence of Baltic countries reached its peak, an audience of 20,000 at the concert of the most popular rock and pop artists forced the Red Army troops (who were ready to invade the palace) to retreat. Since going solo ten years ago, Andrius has shared the stage with artists like Bryan Adams and Sting. He regularly performs in Germany and the US. Having won every Lithuanian music award imaginable, he's also known for his acting skills. Andrius performs the main role in a critically-acclaimed theatre version of ‘Hamlet’ directed by Eimuntas Nekrosius, which so far has been performed more than 170 times in 40 countries. Marijus Mikutavicius is the Lithuanian definition of a ‘household name’. Enjoying parallel careers as a singer and popular TV host, he's been around for more than 10 years. His first solo album was a smash, breaking many Lithuanian sales records. He is the man responsible for a wildly popular special anthem written for Lithuania's participation in the Olympic games of 2000. Known for his energy, sense of humour and friendliness, Marijus is one of the most popular people of Lithuanian showbusiness. And he's loved by the ladies as well, being a regular winner of ‘Lithuania's most handsome man’ polls. Victor ‘Vee’ Diawara adds his cosmopolitan touch to LT UNITED. Born in Mali, he has lived in Germany and Ireland. Now he's the creative force behind Skamp, one of the most popular Lithuanian bands – the same band, one might remember, that brought Lithuania its highest Eurovision placing of 13th in 2001. As a member of Skamp, Victor has performed gigs in many European countries and shared the stage with international stars such as the Black Eyed Peas, Reamonn, Bomfunk MCs, Macy Gray, Kraftwerk, Robert Plant and many more. He's also a prolific producer, sharing his talent and advice with many young bands. Saulius ‘Samas’ Urbonavicius is another Lithuanian rock legend. His band Bix was a pain in the ass for Soviet authorities during the late 80s. With brave lyrics, innovative music and sometimes scandalous behaviour Bix were the leaders of the Lithuanian alternative scene. Sometimes described as a Lithuanian Talking Heads, Bix once shared the stage with Nirvana and became the first Lithuanian group to appear on MCM music channel. Currently, as well as being a musician, Saulius is a TV personality and works as a producer of reality shows. Arnoldas Lukosius is described by his friends as “Lithuania's first rock accordion player”. A former member of Foje, he's editor of a popular Lithuanian magazine and also plays in Andrius Mamontovas’ band. Freaky costumes and wild behaviour on stage are what the audience expects from him. And he surely delivers. Just wait until you see him performing a ‘special Eurovision dance’ on stage in Athens. "I might be opening a private dance school after this," he said. Last, but not least, Eimantas Belickas is a violin player extraordinaire. Having lent his talent to a number of Lithuanian rock bands, including hugely influential Airija, he's always in demand as a musician. And a model as well – he has appeared in a number of commercials. Nowadays he plays with Andrius Mamontovas and works as an editor in a TV studio. LT United project will perform the song "We are the Winners". "We will be the winners even if we won't win" - says composer of the entry, well-known lithuanian performer Andrius Mamontovas. "LT United" was created in December include 4 more familiar names: Viktoras "Vee" Diawara - singer from Lithuanian band "Skamp", Saulius Urbonavicius "Samas" - leader of legendary Lithuanian band "Bix", Eimantas Belickas and Arnoldas Lukosius - musicians who usually play together with Andrius Mamontovas. "We want Lithuania to be famous not only for basketball, but for music as well", says leader of the band. Viktoras Diawara says: "Eurovision is a huge competition, every year many different songs are created but the one we have made this year is absolutely different. I think people are going to remember it." After listening their song, well-known Lithuanian musician, showman and TV presenter Marijonas Mokitavicius has also joined the band. "I needed only a few minutes to decided to join the band. I love this idea" - says Marijonas. The main creator of "LT United" Andrius Mamontovas says that this idea has appeared a year ago and he strongly believes in it's success. "Such belief in myself has happened only three times in my life. We have the winner of Eurovision and we are bringing it to Greece" - says A. Mamontovas. A. Mamontovas think that Lithuania never won the contest because it was not united. But this time as the band name says, they will be united. "Our country is very small so to achive something, we need to be united. We are winner country, but nobody knows it so our mission is that everybody would learn it.", explains singer. The song lasts only 2,5 minutes and the only lyrics are "We are the winners of Eurovision", written by Mamontovas. Other members of the Skamp band have reacted on the participation of their member in LT United project: Erica Jennings: I think this project has two very important things - ironic song and six singers, who have many years stage experience. There will be 38 countries taking part, so the winner will be the one people will be able to remember. Vilius Alesius: I also like the idea. I like that they don't go there to win, they already are going as winners. In the precontest interview Andrius Mamontovas stated the following: Our participation in Eurovision is an adventure, nothing more. Lithuanians make a fuss about this contest and the worst thing about it is not the fact that our performers don’t win; the worst thing is that they fail to get noticed. Even if we don’t win, with LT United Lithuania will draw attention. I wrote this song straight after Lithuania’s failure in the contest last year. At that time Samas (one of LT United members) and I promised on television to take part in next year’s Eurovision and show Europe what they haven’t seen. I have confidence in European public’s sense of humor and believe they will understand our joke. However, if Eurovision organizers decide that our song isn’t suitable for the contest, we’ll make such a big scandal this song will become famous even without Eurovision. What is most important, we’re not expecting anything from the contest, we don’t want to become popular or make profit. We just want Lithuania to be noticed and show that united we are strong. I don’t take this contest seriously. LT United is a project of talented independent musicians, created for one song and with a single aim. When it is launched, anyone looking for "winners of Eurovision" in the search engine will be taken to the official LT United website. This will cause another interesting Eurovision controversy. Как гласит название группы Единая ЛТ, в этот раз единства будет вполне достаточно. "Наша страна слишком маленькая и чтобы чего-то добиться надо быть едиными. Мы страна победителей - но пока этого никто не знает, и наша цель показать всем, что это на самом деле так", объясняет исполнитель. Песня группы длится в течении 2х минут 30 секунд и все ее слова - это фраза "Мы победители Евровидения" на английском языке, которую написал Мамонтовас. Среди 38 стран участниц победит тот, кто сможет запомниться. Вилиус Алесиус: Мне нравится эта идея. И мне нравится то, что они не идут побеждать на Евровидение, они идут туда уже как победители. В своем предконкурсном интервью Андриус Мамонтовас заявил следующее: Наше участие в конкурсе - это чистой воды авантюра. Литовцы постоянно попусту волнуются из за этого конкурса, и проблема даже не в том, что мы никогда не побеждали, проблема в том, что наши исполнители просто проходили незамеченными. Даже если мы не победим - с нашей помощью Литва явно привлечет к себе внимание. Я написал эту песню сразу после провала Литвы в конкурсе прошлого года. Тогда я и Самас (другой участник группы) пообещали в телеинтервью, что мы примем участие в Евровидении следующего года и покажем Европе то, чего она еще никогда не видела. Я верю в чувство юмора Европейской публики и думаю они оценят нашу шутку. А если организаторы решат, что наша песня не подходит для их конкурса, мы поднимем такой скандал, что она станет суперизвестной и без Евровидения. Что более важно - мы ничего не ждем от этого конкурса, мы не хотим стать известными или заработать на этом. Мы просто хотим, чтобы Литву заметили и показать, что мы сильны в единстве. 22.02 Two artists have withdrawn from National Lithuanian preselection as reports official website of LRT. They are Mantas and Amberlife, who were due to compete in the third semifinal this weekend. Mantas didn't give any reasons for his withdrawal, but Amberlife was more specific: "It’s become evident that the music I play doesn’t suit Eurovision, therefore I see no point in wasting time on this contest. There are other ways to make your music popular." "Eurovision isn’t first and foremost about music, nobody needs live instruments and this goes against my principles. It is not worth forsaking them in order to do well, and I’m not a clown that specialises in show tricks." Amberlife has previously appeared in Latvian preselection 2006. Young singer Robertas Kupstas will perform at Lithuanian preselection disco-dance song "Falling In Love". It is interesting that for the first time we will hear song written by Gannopoulos Stefanos, which was previously submitted to Russian preselection 2005 and also suggested to Angelica Agurbash same year. Now composer has gave his song, specially written for Eurovision song contest to Robertas Kupstas, who came to record the song to Greece, but felt ill there and thus was not able to take part in the first heat as scheduled. In the 2nd heat he replaces singer Helada in the competition. As it is reported - in the recording of Robertas' song have participated arranger, who previously worked with Constantinos Christoforou and backing vocalists who worked with Helena Paparizou. Singer Amberlife has submitted same entry that has already qualified to the semifinals in Latvia. As singer claims, in case of win in both countries he will perform for his homeland Lithuania, despite the fact that Latvia is automatic qualifier in finals of ESC 2006. "We've come to the conclusion that Eurovision for Lithuania is very important event, thus we decided to try to enter it", says leader of "InCulto" band Jurgis Didziulis. Musiciants have written funny song about Lithuania and girls from their country. "We've even change our style a bit", but still it is comedy song, as we don't consider Eurovision as contest of good musiciants", says Didziulis. "Can televoters select really best song? I think that viewer don't think about the future of the song at the contest, and vote only for the performances they've just seen and remembered. We need to find some different selection variant", says vocalist of "InCulto" "Our aim is to show Lithuania to Eurovision viewers. Maybe it's not a rich country, but we can be proud of Lithuanian girls and women beauty", explains Jurgis, lead singer of the band. "InCulto" song is a "mix between country and dance rock" according to band description. Band not only tries to show the beauty of Lithuanian women but to brake stereotiph that Lithuanians are depressing people. "I have heard that Lithuanian people are often depressed. But it's not true. We like to party. I think this song will open eyes of foreigners and they will see real Lithuania and our people in a different way. I guess we can now say that this song is perfect touristic anthem". "For our band Eurovision is main goal since the moment of its creation", reveals member of BAvarija Juozas Liesis. BAvarija has prepared new song in English language "If My Dream Came True" that was never performed anywhere yet. "We're learning from previous mistakes, so we didn't include this song in the our newest album, though it was released only couple of days ago". BAvarians have usually participated with pathetic and inspiring songs at the national preselections, and this year will not be different. J.Liesis repeats that Eurovision is not contest on his opinion but music festival. "At contests we know in advance what will be selection criterias. And it never happen at festivals where viewers decide", says Juozas. "It just depends on what people will more like on that specific day. If people were taking into consideration the song and experience of performers, we would win for sure. But this doesn't usually happen", finishes Juozas. Edmundas Kucinskas clearly states: "I'm entering to win this contest". He has submitted song in Lithuanian language to the preselection. "But now I'm in doubts. Possibly I will mix languages and will perform part in Lithuanian and part in English. And I'm not entering for self-advertising, as many other singers do, I'm entering to win only". "Whether I'm satisfied that decision will belong to televoters only? Well, jury opinion is always different from viewers opinion, but on the main international contest also viewers will decide, that's why I think it is good idea that in Lithuania winner will be determined only by televoting. But we need to organize everything technically on the highest level, I'm also very glad that voting time will be extended. This is also good that more known performers are automatically qualified to the semifinal. They should be separated from "people from streets", reveals Edmundas. "Of course we were disappointed a bit last year. But participation in the contest is good advertising and is part of our job", says drummer of the band "Saules kliosas" Laurynas Sarkinas. "Saules kliosas" have finished 5th last year at the preselection, but were marked as best entry by jury. L.Sarkinas confirmed that the band will keep it's style and will present disco song in English language during preselection. "Are we hoping to win? We are realistic about that, viewers will not overwhelmingly like our song, as we usually do it not in the way most of the audience likes", admitted Laurynas. Singer Giulija is making debut this year in National preselections. "How I decided to enter? Some composers have approached me with the songs and I selected best one of them. It is not completely in my style, but I like it", says singer. "I'm prepared to finish last", openly admits Giulija. She thinks Lithuanians are taking Eurovision too seriously: "This is like sports. We will find sometime our special discipline and will win". Giulija will be assisted in her song "Graffiti" by her daughter Monika on back-vocals. Ruta Lukoseviciute is entering Lithuanian National Preselection for the 4th time. Until now she was singing about love, loneliness, but this time her song is about Lithuanian men, "Lithuanian boy". "This song is different from the others i took part with because of it's lyrics. I wanted to put to it some of Lithuanian style, humor." So what kind of boys is Ruta describing in her song? They are bored to study, love blondes, drinking beer and are sport fanatics. What happens to them next? Suddenly they grow up and remember their young days. But the refrain is different. It's says that no matter how are Lithuanian boys, girls love them and need them. Maybe someone had hurted Ruta in past that she is singing such kind of song, she was asked - "No, this song doesn't have anything in common with my personal life" - says Ruta. Young singer Antanas Nedzinskas is debuting in Lithuanian Eurovision preselection. He become popular in the country after his participation in the reality show "Dangus" (The Sky). Here is what Antanas said about Lihuanians in Eurovision: "People shouldn't sing sad tunes, as we were singing in the past, we don't have to copy German style or Swedish manner or country style or whatever. We should be ourselves. Real Lithuanians. And only then we will win." Antanas has just released his debute album "Fontanas". "I'm a romantic person. Singing for me is like discovering myself. There are no rules for my singing because it all comes directly from my heart." "I do not know what to think about the increase of televoting time. Singers themselves and all their friends and relatives may use this time and determine the result", says winner of last year's Lithuanian National Preselection Laura Cepukaite. Singer considers as the biggest mistake of most of the participants to achive the win disregarding the price. Singer thinks that debutants should be also given the chance as "nobody knows in Europe who are Mamontovas or Kucinskas. There is one good thing, now we understand that there is no typical Eurovision standarts and we should just prepare one good song. Though we finished at the bottom of the scoreboard at the contest, now all participants are not afraid to loose at the contest. We have returned back with smiles and keep on doing our job, writing songs and giving concerts. We proudly accepted our failure. And I do not know what can bring luck at the contest", says Laura. Eurovision commentator on National TV Darius Uzkuraites thinks that Eurovision is very expensive pleasure. "This is the reason we again don't have team of organizers and Jonas Vilmas keeps organizing the contest himself. We try to spend as possible less money on it", critisizes music specialist. One of the main mistakes of our selections is wish to give the chance to all unknown performers. "I can not say who is my favourite. This is first of all song contest. Nor Kucinskas, nor Riaubiskyte is known to foreign listeners. There is no single favourite there. And I consider debutants as high risk. It will be our biggest mistake to select some performer from reality talents shows". Darius thinks that the performer who has experience in singing and music should be sent to the contest who will not get afraid performing for a millions European audience. The success can be also reached if we would have mobilized our best composers, scenographs, designers for one internally selected singer, considers Darius. "We have already seen that their is no Eurovision standards. The only thing required is good song and performance. But our problem is that we are having a lot of good singers, but no really good songwriters. And foreign producers are using this trying to solve this problem for us every year. "Бавария" для отбора на Евровидение предоставила песню на английском "If My Dream Came True", которая ещё нигде не звучала. Необходимо их "отсеять" от пришедших с улицы", – откровенничал Э.Кучинскас. "Конечно мы немного разочаровались принимая участие в Евровидении в прошлом году. Но ведь это хорошая реклама и участие в конкурсе связано с работой", – уверял барабанщик группы "Саулес клёшас" Лауринас Шаркинас. "Саулес клёшас" в прошлом году на конкурсе заняли пятое место, а жюри единогласно утверждала, что они лучшие. Л.Шаркинас утверждает, что группа и на предстоящем отборе Евровидения сохранит свой стиль. Будет звучать песня на английском в стиле диско. "Надеемся ли победить? Мы рассуждаем трезво – зрителей не очаруем, так как делаем не так, как им нравится", – признался Лауринас. Певица Гюлия в Евровидение принимает участие впервые. "Как приняла решение участвовать? Несколько композиторов предложили свои песни, в итоге я выбрала лучшую. Хотя песня и не в моём стиле, но мне нравится", – рассказала певица. "Я готова остаться и последней", – открыто говорила Гюлия. Исполнительница считает, что литовцы слишкои много внимания уделяют Евровидению: "Это как спорт. Наступит момент, когда найдём свою нишу и победим". Исполнить песню "Grafiti" Гюлии поможет её дочь Моника. Она выступит бэк-вокалисткой. Рута Лукошевичуте в четвертый раз примет участие в национальном отборе к конкурсу Евровидение. До этого все ее песни были о любви, об одиночестве, но на этот раз она поет о литовских мужчинах в песне "Литовский парень". "Эта песня отличается от всех моих предыдущих попыток, говорит Рута, Я постаралась вложить в ее текст типичный литовский юмор". Каких же парней Рута описывает в своей песне? Для молодого певца Антанаса Недзинскаса это дебют в национальных отборах к Евровидению. Он приобрел популярность в стране после своего участия в реалити шоу "Dangus" (Небо). Вот что Антанас думает об литовском участии в Евровидении: "Мы не должны петь грустные песни, как мы пели раньше, мы не должны копировать немецкий или шведский стили или петь в манере кантри. Для моих песен нет правил, потому что все они исходят напрямую от сердца.". "Не знаю, как отнестись к продлению телеголосования, ведь за эти дополнительные минуты за себя смогут проголосовать участники или их близкие", говорит победительница прошлого литовского национального тура Евровидения Лаура Чепукайте. Певица уверяет, что одна из основных ошибок участников – желание любой ценой победить на финале отбора. Певица считает, что шанс должен быть дан и дебютантам "Ведь в Европе никто не знает А.Мамонтоваса или Э.Кучинскаса. Хорошо одно – мы поняли, что нет евровизийных стандартов и надо подготовить хорошую песню. Хотя на Евровидении и были лишь предпоследние, мы внедрили одну положительную вещь: большинство желающих участвовать в конкурсе заранее не испытывает страха быть неудачниками. Мы вернулись с улыбками и дальше успешно творим и выступаем с концертами. Неудачу мы приняли гордо. А как приручить удачу, не знаю", – говорила Лаура. Постоянный комментатор конкурсов Евровидения Дариус Ужкурайтис считает, что Евровидение – дорогое удовольствие. "Думаю, из-за этого нет и организационной команды. Как всегда основной организатор – Йонас Вилимас. Отборочный конкурс стараемся огранизовать на минимальные средства", – критиковал музыкальный обозреватель. Одной из самых больших ошибок прошлогоднего отбора – толерантность к неизвестным исполнителям. "Не могу ответить, какие фамилии или группы мне импонируют. Это ведь конкурс песни. Ни Э.Кучинскас, ни Виолета Ряубишките не известны иностранным слушателям. Одного фаворита нет. Наибольшим риском считаю дебютантов. Было бы ошибкой выбрать какого-нибудь исполнителя из реалити-шоу". Согласно Д.Ужкурайтису, надо отправить человека, который имеет опыт в пении и музицировании, чтобы не растерялся увидев европейскую аудиторию. Успех для нас предопределили бы и мобилизированные силы композиторов, сценографов, дизайнеров ради одного какого-либо исполнителя. "Мы уже убедились, что евровизийных стандартов нет. Просто надо хорошей песни и исполнения. Но есть ещё одна забота - репертуар: исполнители есть, нет сочинителей песен. За нас эту проблему уже который год пытаются решить продюсеры из других стран.
Update: Entry submission deadline in Lithuania has passed. 72 entries were received, among them 20 from foreign composers (Including Gerard James Borg - this is 4th country where his song is taking part). Regular participants of preselection and other well known performers B'avarija, Alanas Chosnau, Saules Kliosas, N.E.O., Artas, Edmundas Kucinskas, Aliukai, Ruta Lukoseviciute, Mantas, Egidijus Sipavicius, Giulija, Artas, Road Band, InCulto are again among those who have entered the contest. All participants were separated in 2 groups: singers with more than 1 year of active stage experience or which have twice participated in National preselections have automatically qualified to the semifinal. And new and unknown singers will have to pass through series of rounds "Eurovizijos studija" ("Eurovision Studio of LTV") to qualify to the semifinals, which will take place in February. "Eurovision Studio of LTV" will start on January 7th during the show "Lietuvos dainu desimtukas" (Lithuanian top 10) and will run till February 11th. Special academy will be organized for the young artists divided in 3 preliminary heats, daily reports from the studio where artists will work with proffesionals will be broadcasted along with weekly live concert . 4 winners of each heat will complete in the next preselection round on 4th of February. Organizers also stated the possibility of the extra preselection round where Lithuanian singers will compete for the right to perform songs by foreign composers, which have not found performer for their entries themselves. This plan was later cancelled and it was decided to organize 3 semis instead of 2. Winners of "Eurovision Studio" are selected by joint decision of televoting and jury. 6 best singers will qualify to the semifinals from the qualification of "Eurovision Studio", and they will participate in semifinals on the same basis with other semifinalists. Semifinals of 9 songs each are set on 11th, 18th and 25th of February. 5 best songs of each semi go to final, while LRT has the right to add one extra song to the final from nonqualifiers. Final, which will include 16 entries (5 from each semi and wildcard) is scheduled for March 4th. It will be held in Vilnius at "Siemens" arena. Winner will be selected by televoting only. Участники были разделены на две категории: артисты с более чем годовым опытом активной сценической деятельности или дважды принимавшие участие в национальном отборе автоматически прошли в полуфинал. Отбор среди начинающих и малоизвестных артистов будет проходить в формате кастингов "Студия Евровидения ЛТВ". "Студия Евровидения ЛТВ" стартует 7го января в рамках программы "Lietuvos dainu desimtukas" Литовская десятка и продлится до 11го февраля. Артисты будут разделены на 3 группы, в ежедневном эфире ЛТВ будут показаны занятия молодых артистов с профессоналами, а в конце недели их выступления с конкурсными песнями. По 4 победителя групп продолжат соревноваться в следующем раунде, который пройдет 4го февраля. Как отметили организаторы возможно будет проведен дополнительный раунд среди литовских исполнителей за право исполнить песни тех зарубежных композиторов, которые сами не подобрали исполнителя. В последствии этот план был отвергнут и было решено провести 3 полуфинала вместо двух. Победители "Студии Евровидения" будут определены голосованием телезрителей и жюри. 6 лучших участника "Студии Евровидения" попадают в полуфиналы, где далее участвуют в отборе в общем порядке, вместе с другими полуфиналистами. Полуфиналы из 9 песен запланированы на 11е, 18е и 25е февраля. 5 лучших песен с каждого полуфинала пройдут в финал, LRT также оставляет за собой право добавить одну песню в финал по своему усмотрению. Финал, в котором примут участие 16 песен (5 из каждого полуфинала и вайлдкард), намечен на 4е марта, пройдет он в Вильнюсе на "Siemens" арене. Победителя определит голосование телезрителей. Время голосования для телезрителей будет продлено с 15 минут до получаса.
