2003. Martins frequently takes part in various joint projects with other musicians in
Latvia. He brings his own song, “Hallo From Mars” to the 2003 Eurovision Song Contest
preliminaries. In terms of the trio who will perform the song, it was after the national
preliminaries of the 2002 Eurovision Song Contest that Martins Freimanis thought of the
possibility that several performers might work together in the following year’s
nationals. In the autumn of 2002, at a golf tournament that was organised by Latvian
Independent Television, the three artists raised a glass of champagne and agreed to
perform “Hallo From Mars”. Lauris Reiniks has studied at the Dobele Children’s Music School, the Jelgava College of Music and a high school in Los Angeles, California. He is a second year student in communications studies at the University of Latvia and hosts the musical programmes “Troksnis” (Noise) and “Nosu speles” (Note Games) on Latvian Television. In the past, Lauris has hosted the international television children’s pop festival “Saules zakis” (Sun Bunny). He has also appeared as the host of television broadcasts featuring the 8th Student Song and Dance Festival and the 800th anniversary celebrations of the city of Riga. In 2000, Lauris hosted a programme of information about the 45th Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm, and it was he who announced the results of the Latvian vote to the world. In the national preliminaries in 2001, he and Linda Leen took second place with their “I Wish I Knew”. In the 2002 national finals, Lauris’ “My Memory Tape” was one of the top five songs. Lauris released his solo album Planet 42 in June 2002, and a month later he took part in the “Voice of Asia” young performers’ competition in Alma Ata, Kazakhstan, where he was declared winner of alternative unofficial rank. In the latter half of 2002, Lauris Reiniks’ song “Sirds sadeg neparasti” (The Heart Burns Unusually) took the top spot in the Latvian Airplay Top 40 and in the Latvian Music “Summit” list for five weeks running. For four weeks, the song was the most requested composition on Radio SWH. Yana Kay studied piano and choreography and is a graduate of the Latvian Cultural Workers Technical School, where she specialised in the direction of major cultural events. In 1997, she released her first maxi single on CD - an English cover of Renars Kaupers’ song “Tava sirds mana azote” - “My Heart is Your Sweet Home”. Yana’s songs have been included in various song collections and have been issued in Canada, Venezuela, the Czech Republic, Indonesia, Romania, Russia, Mexico, China, Malaysia and other countries. Her “Baby Girl” Was a major hit on the Moscow radio station “Hit FM”. Yana received an award from the radio station for her success, and the video for the song was shown on MTV Russia. In 1998 Yana Kay recorded a duet with DJ Bobo and performed with him at the opening concert of his Magic concert tour in Europe. She was the warm-up act for the legendary group Boney-M when it performed in Latvia. Yana submitted three original songs to the national finals of the 2000 Eurovision Song Contest and won top marks from the section of the jury that was made up of international specialists. Also in 2000, Yana released her album Loveland, which was also released in Indonesia. In 2001, the song “Falling Into You” brought Yana to the finals of the Eurovision Song Contest national preliminaries. In April 2001, Yana surprised her listeners with a song in Russian - “Prikosnis”. Soon after, the composition “Vspominai Menja” hit the airwaves. |

здесь Hallo From Mars F.L.Y. Time would pass me by if I Had never asked you why Your eyes were open wide That day you saw me cry I’m not that kind of girl Who only dreams of pearls Just give me wings of love And make it real ‘Cause I’m not afraid Of a blade That we need to cross today But I’m scared to be shared By someone else ‘Cause this is gonna be The day that we will meet When heaven comes so down to earth To say hello from Mars My emotions take me high They seem to reach the sky I still believe we try To hit the ground or fly Life is a mystery Like a perfect harmony No one knows that day when love Will come and set you free |

Way 'Finally Switched On' There are things, yet we don’t know Dominating us. Should we break apart, Or swear to never say goodbye. Day before, we were high. But not in mellow way. When accidentally loosing Half our pride to stay away. And I take your hands to pray One more day. We will share our love away. And I need your trust to stay Fade away Try to live another way. When every moveless gesture Showing signs of life. Then your eyes will tell us Where to cast the dust away. And every single portion Summoning your soul. While my hands will help you Tell your secrets right away. So calm, flying aside Your life is still craving, craving for a love. Over hills, climbing up high, My eyes still searching, searching for a love. |
